You tried to decide between a Super Rat or Combat Wombat.

you remember thinking that the new 2 stroke bikes were going to ruin Motocross, and then 40 years later, your thinking the same thing about the new 4 stroke bikes. Blink

You bought a Preston Petty no-dive front brake kit . . hey at least his fender were the best (how about his grandson . . )

You used a diff-brake in cause they paid contingency money.

You raced with a bluey pipe (spelling?) and can still hear (that ones before my time).

You raced rough scrambles.

You remember the story about the electric orange grove! and you know what the GYDBT is.

You had your fun then got out of the sport for "practical" reasons--only to rediscover your passion for it years later...

... and you've done this at least 4 times.

If you ever signed up for the 125 beginner class at 15 years of age with only a signed permission slip from your parents.

God, I think I still have one of those kicking around.

I painted the helmet Yellow so it would match the Iron Jaw. The paint softened the plastic helmet...which was awesome since the stickers stuck so well. It makes me cringe now, but worked well then....

You secretly used your mum's best carving knifeSmile to cut a fresh edge on the knobbies of your Metzeler rear tyre!

You used to boil your chain every week in one of those Lintek solid grease tins on your mum's cooker, until you one week forgot about it and it exploded hot black grease all over the kitchen Woohoo !Sad

1981 YZ80- $739 brand new (Bell Rd. Yamaha). Great bike, rode the shit out of it.

Bell Moto 3 helmets, Lancer leathers, IRC tires, HRP chest protector, and don't forget those iconic Hannah lightning bolt stickers...

I remember with Lancer leathers, they were Phoenix based and you could go there and they would custom make any color combination you wanted. No Chinese sweatshop.

True story- the building that used to be Lancer leathers became a popular "topless" club, pretty sure it is still there but it has been about a decade since I stopped in to check on the ladies...

Let's see, Torsten Hallman leathers, lineman boots, flip up visor as described on open faced Bell Magnum with football guard, kidney belt, rubber band starting area in background. Yep think I got it covered.

Advanced Torque Amplification Chamber.

No googling needed. I know how to take one apart and clean it too.
I always thought it stood for "Automatic" Torque Amplification Chamber.

I pulled it off my 1986 CR 125 and ran a PC pipe without the chamber.

Leathers, Electro helmet, Iron Jaw, Carrera 98's, Hi-Points with killer sox over the tops, MXL gloves.

Rode this 79 YZ250 nearly every day, and raced it most weekends. If it ran, I was riding it.

When I raced for the first time in the 125 amature class at Austin, Texas and there were 80 bikes stacked 2 deep on the line with a rubber band start in 1976.

If you remember the gator in the pit at Slim's Yamaha in Marysville, Ca.

Yeah my first "full faced" helmet did include the obligatory Iron Jaw.
4/5/2014 5:27pm
When you used spray paint and tape to try and make your helmet look like the DG riders of the day. Been there and done that.

And...

When you watched Johnny O. at Sprockets Park wear out the 250 expert and the open expert on his RM125. Johnny was 16.

Doing a top-end didn't involve draining the coolant & you could bore the cylinder.

you have used a pair of Channellock's to zip and unzip your leathers and buckle (strap) your boots.

You bought pump gas for your race motor. And $3 would fill your gas can.
