It's a done deal with Kenny (RCH/RedBull/Yoshimura/Suzuki), I know from very reliable source. Also Barcia signed at Detroit SX with JGR.
It's not RCH Red Bull Yosh Suz. Yosh is the factory team and they are looking to sign another rider for 15 to go along with James.
RCH which is on factory equipment is who Kenny has signed an LOI with...Red Bull is his personal sponsor and not a sponsor with the team.

If you are going to make such claims you should be able to back it up with something. Your word means nothing on the internets.

Why should he? In case you haven't figured it out yet......some guys are either in the industry or have friends and family in the industry. " Sometimes " you get told things in advance before the public knows ( which is cool ).......but to spill the beans and tell everyone on a friggin' message board of who you heard it from....and where.......is stupid. You can cost people their jobs , cost riders their sponsors , and basically just cause a bunch of shit nobody needs.

MM has his source , his opinion , ect......who gives a shit what you think about it? Believe it.....or don't. I don't think he cares.

Oh god I hope not. I like can't like stand listening like to interviews like with this guy. He said like every other word practically and he is a total head case. Has Anderson been around 3 years where he will point out if he wins the title? If that is even still the rule since they change it every year.

I may be far enough out of the industry insiders group to know, but where did the Roczen signing stuff come from. Who started the rumor that he has already signed? I have no clue that is why I am asking. I would like a better understanding of all of this. Thanks. I also agree with Jeffro503 why would MM ruin the source he has by calling people out. Thanks for the info michiganmafia.

If this is the case why would he open his mouth in the first place? I mean if people can lose their careers why wouldn't he be more tight lipped.

I was not aware that he needed someone to explain his actions. The man has a keyboard, let him speak. You are just trying to be an argumentative douche and have very little, if any, useful information.

So RCH is going to have both Monster & Redbull under the same tent? I cant see that happening. RC is Monster for life. I guess Monster can use some of there money to buy Kenny & Redbull away from KTM.. lol

Matthes, GuyB, Weege, and JT have all pretty much confirmed this. Obviously we can't go grab the contract and bring it to you, but you will see your proof soon enough.

Roczen is going to develope the Husky for KTM.

Roczen himself told me that. I'd say my sources are very reliable.

Yoshimura Suzuki is the factory effort, and RCH has factory bikes because of RC's pull with yellow. But most of their money comes from outside sponsors...like two different casinos. No? RC's Monster sponsor is personal. Tickle and Hill don't have the M claw on their bikes. JS's Red Bull deal is a personal sponsorship too...no?

I can't see the two teams mergingBlink

Like someone said, he has two top five finishes. That's hardly "solid top 5 guy" material. WP isn't even in the Top 10 in points for the season.

A1 - 16th
Phoneix - 21st
A2 - 7th
Oakland - 22nd
A3 - 5th
San Diego - 5th
Arlington - 20th
Atlanta - 8th
Indy - 22nd
Daytona - DNS
Detroit - 7th
Toronto - 7th

This gives him an average finish of 11th-12th.

Seems of these guys need to lay off the WP40 Kool-Aid. There seems to be a lot of it around here. The guys fast on a bike...no doubt. Faster than most (if not all) of us here on the forum. But the guy isn't the next top contender for the win at a Supercross. His name comes up any time there's talk of an open ride anywhere. Looking at the results though, while being a contender possibly...he isn't a sure thing for anyone.

This is partly correct. Most of his bad finishes were due to mechanical failures and not poor riding performance. If you look at his results in his contested events with no bike issues he's been a consistent top 10, usually in the 6-8 range. This is much better than a lot of guys getting paid a lot more money. Just look at the last two races. He's out performed Dean Wilson hands down but everyone is talking about what big team Dean should get a ride with.

I'm not saying the guy is on par with RV, JS, JB, KR, RD but he deserves a ride on a good team. Especially with guys like Hill, Grant, Weimer etc out there sucking it up with good teams and good rides.

Bingo.
KTM don't have the budget for 2 top riders. maybe if they didn't have the 250 program they might.

You're absolutely right that there were a fair share of mechanical issues. However, having mechanicals doesn't change the results that a sponsor sees and gets to push that his rider did. There is no ad that can be printed for a DNF or a mechanical failure. I'll grant you that he's capable of running Top 10 in super cross. Top 10 is still pretty far removed from being a "solid top 5 guy."

The other aspect of sponsorship that seems to be forgotten on a regular basis is negative images. WP40 has had a couple of negative incidents. Often times it's not really the fastest guys that get a ride. It's the guys that present themselves well to fans and the media. Those are the guys who sell product for sponsors. And sponsorship is a business. Sponsors want return on their investment.

The other aspect of sponsorship is marketing yourself to sponsors. I've never met the guy so I don't know how he presents himself to sponsors. But I know a lot of people who are fast enough to get some support (at least on a local level) but get absolutely no help because they don't know how to approach a sponsor and most importantly to market themselves. Being nice to fans, speaking well in the media and the right approach to a sponsor will get you much further than your results unless you're at the very pointy end of the top where you're contending for the championship.

Does the guy deserve a ride? Sure. But the way people here worship the guy isn't really deserved. The guys a top of the middle or bottom of the top rider. Admittedly very fast on a motorcycle for sure compared to most. But like I said before. He isn't in the hunt to pull off a win any time soon. And he certainly isn't a contender to pull off the kind of consistent high performance that will bring him a championship.

I've never heard of any negative incidents surrounding him but that doesn't mean there aren't any, just that there are none that I'm aware of.

You kind of contradict yoursefl. You say you don't know how he interacts with fans and media etc and that sponsors want someone who will bring people and recognition. You then say that all these people worship him. Sounds like he's doing a pretty good job of it to me then. Right? : )

No he's not a solid top 5 guy. But who is? RV, Stew, Dungey, Rock, Barcia. After that it's a wash. There are more spots than that and there are some great riders finishing 5-10.

WP went full privateer, went out and sought his own sponsors and is doing SX on his own. Without big backing mechanical issues are to be expected. What you have to look at is riding potential. He's shown me that he has the potential and that coupled with a fast and sound bike from a bigger budgeted team he can be a consisten 6-10 guy which there are a lot of big teams out there that would like to have that right now. (Weimer, Canard, Hill, Grant, etc.)

This forum in particular has a lot of WP40 worshippers. This forum also represents a pretty small segment of overall fans. I don't know how his fan interaction is. I do know that he's made some questionable comments that might not be viewed upon as friendly in social media.

There was an incident this year involving him and Matt Lemoine where WP40 felt it needed to say this on Instagram... "There is way too many cry babies in this sport, if you don't like bar bangin' then go play soccer, bud. #47." The incident was brought up here. Along with reference to him "throwing sponsors and engine builders under the bus." I'm not sure about the sponsor comment.

And then there's the interview with RacerX Open Mic where he made this comment: "Yeah, I had to go to the LCQ which I hate doing and riding with spodes." (discussed here)

A couple of seemingly minor incidents for sure. Until you think about it from the point of view of a sponsor. A sponsor is utilizing a rider for marketing. To basically insult a competitor is poor form. And then to say that the guys in an LCQ are a bunch of spodes (when most of the people who a company would market to can't even apply for a pro license) doesn't reflect well.

That's not to say that everything has to be all roses and rainbows all the time. But when you aren't putting in top tier results where you're a possible winner...your attitude carries a lot more weight. The edgy attitude is great. He's a guy speaking his mind and not so robotic. Until you go to market it. Then it's not so great. Sponsorship is a business. It's all about the return on the investment (anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar). You want a friendly, neutral or positive personality representing your company. Not a negative one. It's the equivalent of going to a job interview and not being well spoken or well dressed for the job. Image matters. That image includes all aspects from appearance to communication.

Hopefully he pulls something together. He's got a program that seems to be working for him since when he does finish he gets a decent (not great from a sponsor point of view) result. I'll bet if he approaches sponsors the right way and cleans up his image just a little bit...things improve for next season. I hope he does.
