because you won't get a chance to see RV and JS going at it good until then or motocross season.

His mind is on winning his 4th straight title, no need to push it until the thing is wrapped up.

Can't wait for outdoors RV is gonna destroy them all again IMO.

Why push it when you don't need to? Take the wins when they give you an opportunity. If it's a dog fight that needs to happen.....why chance that? Race wins are great.......but not as important as the title. Besides.....James was riding really good last night and RV had no reason what so ever to challenge him for it. Honestly I don't know if he could of even challenged for it and James was hauling ass.

I was starting to doubt RV earlier when points were tightening up but dang man, not only can he dominate when he needs too but he looks to be entirely cool and calculated in this thing.
I'm ready for the official awarding of the #1 plate and the Glen Helen season opener!

6 races to go and were looking forward to the MX season? I'm glad RV is playing it smart and winning the championship but I think Feld needs to figure out a way to curb mediocrity in the future. Can't do much for building interest in the sport when you hear the announcers basically trying to explain why the 2nd place racer is gonna stay where he is, because winning this race is not that important to him at this point.

Why push it when you have a points lead?..because if something drastic happens he'd probably wish he did those nights...

Or even 2000 reasons RV should push for every win. .Pinch

He's three time Champ, the most consistent rider this season, has a 30 point lead over Dungey and 49 points over James! I think he knows what he's doing, don't you!

No, maybe he doesn't, if the points were closer you'd all be singing a different tune, if James didn't have any foulups he'd be leading the points right now...

I'm not singing any tune, James beat RV last night sure as shit. We're not talking "if's", we're talking about what's actually happening. And so far RV doesn't look to need advice from Big Lenny. No matter how much you think your opinion has merit Wink

Why does anything need to be changed, even the average sports fan, especially motorsports fan realizes that a rider / driver who is in the hunt for a championship will sooner lay up and take second to a rider/driver who is 50 points back in the championship rather than take unnecessary risks to win a single race.

Though not sure if Villopoto could have even caught James this weekend. 2nds and 3rds are all Ryan needs from here on out

It's championship money and he definitely knows what he's doing. There's no need to go after JS at this time, especially with the Dunge right there behind him waiting for a mistake. I'm not saying he could of beat him, I'm just saying he didn't have to and it just kind of makes for a lost opportunity when you could be watching two badass riders throwing it down like in the MEC. The system makes it that way.

There's another element that doesn't get brought up... sometimes racing with James, or James racing with you, is a lot more detrimental than losing three points on a night when he's on point and winning.

I can only recall RV dropping the hammer, totally maxed out, a handful of times this year.

- San Diego chasing Stewart until he backed it down.
- Daytona, in the main, and especially that pass on Alessi in the heat.
- He seemed to be going for it in the heat last night and in the main until he made that mistake.

I'm sure there are plenty of other times I am forgetting, but he seems to be riding a few notches away from the edge of the envelope (for him) most of the time. It's not the way I want to see a championship go down, but you have to give it to him for not letting his emotions control his riding throughout this whole thing.

RV is getting it done with consistency. On most nights he hasn't been the best rider. The RV2 fanboyz will argue but it's true. This SX season he hasn't been walking away from the field at all...except for Daytona last week. Both BB4 and RV2 were in another zip code at the end of the race. He's taken a page from RD with, if its there take it, if not don't push it. It's working out in spades. I will say he looked a little agro in Jim Holleys "on the podium" interview last night for supercrossonline.com

No reason to push when all the other contenders are giving away huge chunks of points left and right....

He is over one race up right now and I have no doubt he'll end up more than 50 points up without even having to push... the comp need to get their shit together if they ever hope to take him down...

More like RC then RD. RC won his last 2 championships without a single win after Daytona. Championship means you won
the season, a win means you won the night. Right now RV1 is in championship mode, and JS7 is in win mode, he said so
last night. 4 championships in a row is legendary, a win is really cool, but has been done by many riders. And anyone who
thinks RV1 doesn't have more in the tank then he showed last night in only fooling themselves. Forget the ifs, when he needs
a win he will go for it and if he doesn't he probably will settle for a top 3 just like RC use to do. Go RV1Woohoo

I think RV is gonna win the title yeah, but ANYTHING can happen up until then. Everyone remembers 2012 when RV tore his ACL in Seattle. Let me reiterate, I do not wish for this to happen by any means but that was a freak accident that could realistically happen to anyone. RV is fast and smart no doubt but lets run the races and see where they end up. RV hasnt had his bad race yet, things could still get interesting.

So, I guess he had more in the tank the 8 races that he has not won this year? He probably just wanted to give everyone else a chance? Whistling Is that what you're saying? Okie Dokie, If you say soWink If you think RV wasn't trying to win in Detroit, well you're naive then, otherwise why go out and set the fastest lap in practice? isn't that risky? The only reason he backed it down a notch in the main is because he about ate shit going up the uphill in the stands. You do know, he hates losing to James even if it's just for a win, right?Tongue

Yes, RV has had a great season, but only due to everyone else's DNF's! It's not like he's dominated the season like RC and MC used to do.Tongue

You talking like the last to 4th race or the races where he had the points lead and had no chance of winning without
hanging it out and endangering losing the lead. Fastest lap time in practice and winning heat races is the way you get
a good starting position, of course he is going to go for it. Yes, he hates losing, but he has learned from past champions
how to win championships instead of trying to win every race and crashing out. RC only won 6 or 7 races in most of
his championship seasons, RV1 has done that every one, but this year where he has got the points lead much earlier
than past years, and there are still 6 races left. Go RV1Woohoo Tongue
