M800 has stuck by his Dad through thick and thin, he put family first. Some riders used their parent to get to the top then booted them out first chance. You can question whether it was a good or bad choice but you can't question someone who sticks by their family. I totally respect that. Flame away.

People are questioning his family, his upbringing, dogging out his Dad and whole family, his character for a tbone. It has everything to do with it. I mean why aren't you questioning all the hate in this thread, all the hateful talk? it's a dang tbone not a school shooting. What part are you having trouble with I will be glad to help. Smile

Bonseff, Hut, you aren't seeing it here because Guy B. has erased a ton of comments that crossed those lines… I posted here because I believe a lot of the tone is said by this roaming conversation and civil forum that Guy B. gives everyone here. When I saw all of the ugly stuff on our pages and Mike's social media, I just thought it was making the whole sport look worse.

I have been on the receiving end of enough criticism and insults myself to have a little empathy here for what Mike's doing. You can't just shut it off when you're phone and social media presence are a big part of your life.

Coincidentally, I remember him doing likewise when Broc himself and RV got horribly slandered and insulted on by the Hippy & Hick guy, and also when James Stewart and his mom got some hateful words from some fans at Southwick one year, then one of the guys called me and started in on me...

A lot of people said and posted things they regret over the weekend because there is such passion for the sport, and suck polarization over Mike Alessi and the whole Alessi brand. It can't get any worse,

Industry folks and true fans and have moved on to discuss how great the racing is, how big the crowds were, how impressive Roczen is, how solid Villopoto continues to be, what's wrong with fill-in-the-blank….There's going to be 60,000 people at Lucas Oil Stadium and I hope they all focus on the battle for the championship again. That's not me supporting Mike Alessi; that's just hoping it all goes away soon.

And I hope Broc Tickle wins the race!

DC....Did you guys do a similar write up with pictures if the Instagram and analysis at racerx? I might have missed it but I didn't see it anywhere. Or possibly, you're working on a feature about fans behaving badly....such as, "when fans cross the line" talking about how the role of the fan and their interaction with riders has changed in our sport and how it has evolved, and the impact of social media....coming soon :-)

Well, like I said...it's laughable that MA800 is being portrayed as the victim here.

Him and his family will cause more problems....just wait and watch.

(the messages about wishing him harm are completely out of line and I can't believe that anybody with any sense would say that)

GD, seriously. A hand full of keyboard hero's turned this thread into an episode of the Kardashians.

I love mx because its always seemed to attract down to earth, level headed people with their ego's in check, for the most part. Theres a few self righteous guys posting here that type as if Alessi just threatened their family and they need to convince everyone else their opinion is correct. Its been made very clear that it was a stupid move. No one thinks it was cool or ok to do. Go find something else to do with your time and energy.

Hate? In this thread? He made a dipshit move, and is catching crap for it. Big deal. Every person in this thread agrees that the idiot that wants to see him in a chair is just that, an idiot. There is a happy and healthy medium between wanting to see him hurt, and saying he is beyond reproach because he loves his Dad.

Sully22, we don't have a message forum, so I had nowhere to post it there and have this discourse. And I posted it here because I always post here. Is that now a problem because I took the not-always-popular position of using a little more civility?

Huh? I wasn't trying to be a jerk about this at all. I was asking a serious question about the role of fans and how it could be a good time for an article about the evolution of fans in our sport and how technology has changed that interaction, and how it's a hot button issue right now.. There was absolutely NO disrespect at all in my post...sorry if it came off that way.

Sorry Sully22, I didn't understand what you meant. Yes, I have written a couple of columns about this very same thing, especially from James Stewart's point of view after some of the nastiness he's had to go through. I also have written about the Alessis and their ongoing dramas -- remember, I was involved in "laser gate" -- and can't believe that people are confusing my post asking for some civility in tone with any kind of defense of the takeout.

The thing that Alessi did here used to be called "a pick-up pass" and I've seen everyone from Jeff Emig ('95 MXdN) to RC ('97 Vegas 125 SX) to Windham (PHX '04) do the same thing -- I did it dozens of times at Motordrome racing with "Mad" Mike Jones, my brother, Jeff Glass, Mark Garrison, Tommy Carson, Fred Andrews… But since it's Mike Alessi, it's gone from a stupid takeout to "deadly assault" and he should be banned, and it's open season on death threats, catastrophic-injury wishes, etc.

I do agree entirely with everyone on this: the past transgressions of the whole family have left #800 with no room for error, and this was a huge error and he's paying for it.

For what it's worth, I was the one accused of assault at Washougal and of running a "drug ring" on PulpMX but Tony Alessi…

I come at this from a simple ask for civility, nothing else.

I'll speak with candor..... I do not understand the "pack" attitude (have courage a take a stand), the bullying (Yes, what happened on MA800’s social media and VitalMX is bullying), and hatred for people. Mike Alessi made a bone headed move - he apologized. He didn't owe one person on VitalMX or social media an apology. Only Tickle and Tickle's team...... and I hope he forgave himself and has grown from this incident.

Throughout the years, (among RC, Bubba, Alessi, Barcia, DC, RV, Ryno, Alessi etc) I have heard the most insane, hurtful and hateful rhetoric. These athletes are humans and have emotions. The next time, I hope some more of the fans have the courage to call people on bullshit.

I am extremely grateful to be part of this community; I love this sport, and a fan of all the athletes. When does this stop being Alessi’s issue, and person who is dragging him through the mud issue? Certainty speaks volumes of the person’s inner world – as our outer world is a reflection of our inner world.

Stay on the gas DC – thank you for stepping up. Peace and Light

What Mike Alessi did was dumb...then lying about it-saying it was an accident-was even dumber. It was a act of desperation (just like his Tedesco kill switch thing) and ANOTHER example of his lack of control over his emotions.

Having said that...DC is right...there is no need to call for his head on a platter or wish him any kind of harm. That's just crossing the line.

This is off the topic....I try really really hard to root for Alessi...I know he's putting in the work, I know he wants it bad......I've never met him before, but I'm sure he (and his entire family) are incredibly NICE....but its like two steps forward 10 steps back for that guy. His interviews are just so awkward, that if I were him (or even his team) I would absolutely get him some public speaking/public relations classes or something. I can only imagine how awkward I would be if someone put a TV camera in my face on LIVE national television and started asking me questions...so I get it, he's nervous...but he's a professional athlete, and if there is one area that "Team Alessi" has struggled their entire careers, is public relations...so why don't they invest some of their money into public relations, public speaking...Maybe they have, I don't know.

I almost get the feeling that people are just waiting to hang him though. Last week, you should of seen the rhetoric on Barcia. This is insanity.

Not directed to DC: (this does not apply to people who are not a fan of the rider's actions, fan of his family's actions, a fan of a team, or a fan of a team - speak with facts - its the hurtful projections and manifestations I speak of)

Thanks DC! Again, sorry....I should have just asked if racerx has any plans if doing any articles or columns about the role of fans and how the fan / athlete interaction has changed in our ever evolving sport because it was so hot right now. I'm sure there's a million other things on your plate, and that type of article might not be so high up there. I know James has faced some us disgusting things in his career, and now mike with the death threats and injury wishes. It's sad and cliche to say, but is sucks a few idiots with Internet access hiding behind a screen name feel empowered to say such horrific things and make everyone else look bad. I do agree and feel that because it was mike, with his family history, and jeff not helping by jumping in the fray, that people felt like it was open season to say whatever with no repercussions, and either people wouldn't care or they'd join in the bashing.....but it went way too far over the top and got way outta line.

DC, I 'm glad that you post here and I probably give you a lot of shit too and I understand what your are saying, but I think the real problem here is that the $4000 fine is laughable and I think 99% of this is because the punishment does not fit the crime. Had a more severe punishment been imposed, this would have ended Sunday!

You mentioned that you have done those passes also, really. I've been racing a long time and the people that dumped the clutch with the throttle pinned into the side of someone usually didn;t leave the track on their own two feet. I like a good block pass but a torpedo is something different.

This is just my opinion and I am probably wrong, like always, but the lack of punishment seems to me that the love of money (having Mikey around) is overcoming the love of the sport and the traditions of said sport, and as soon as that happens, my bikes are for sale.

MotoX85, I can see the point on the fine, but he has not been fined since 2005, I believe, and I'm not sure he's
ever been fined in SX, so I am not sure where or why that number was what AMA/FIM decided. I will see if anyone knows more in Indy…

And as for how rough folks used to ride, ask Jonesy, or Carson, or Glass or any of those guys, night racing at Motordrome was as brutal as PJ1 Arenacross would get with Dennis Hawthorne, Jimmy Chester, Jim Neese, etc. It was different back then for sure, probably in every area of the country!

I don't have a problem with physical riding myself. If you aim for the front wheel then the other guy might go down, or he has the chance to check up and avoid the collision. Aiming for the mid section, where a riders leg usually is leaves the other rider with no chance to avoid a collision or possibly an injury. That's dirty. But even that would likely not be a blip on the radar if the rider is not Alessi or Friese. Really though, either of these scenarios pales in comparison to cross jumping on purpose or whipping into somebody's front wheel. That's where there really needs to be some enforcement.

I get the feeling that you did not look at the video I mentioned. Thats OK you have your mind made up I suppose so no need to.
But if you do, check out how he locks the front wheel up twice just before he "pins" the throttle. Weird technique for someone to use when planning a take out move.

I agree with DC and the stupid comments people are making. Alessi made a mistake, but I wonder how many times other riders make the similar mistakes? It's Alessi's I get that with all his controversy. But still a person that risks his life for his passion of the sport deserves respect. Its guys like Alessi and Peick that add character to the sport (the underdogs). If all the riders were the top factory guys with all the best equipment, trainers and big salaries, how much fun would the sport be to watch? I feel the sport is losing these types of riders due to the expense of racing and no monetary help from sponsors and low pay scales. Eventually you will have all the factory guys being taken out by the riders who have deep pockets (but lack talent) but can afford to race. Also, I thought Ricky Carmichaels rude comment that he made on national TV regarding "a rider like Aless will never live up to his potential", was very rude and hurtful I am sure to Mike as well. I guess if we give him the nickname of "T-Bone" then he will be ok to do it and not get penalized because isnt that why Bam Bam gets away with it? Riders were warned its on his butt patch!

http://brotocross.com/thoughts/these-alessi-trolls-are-the-worst-people-that-have-ever-existed/

"This is one of those times where I feel like I have a responsibility to open my mouth simply because I know that a lot of the people that read my shit are assholes. I feel like I’m kind of the king Alessi-hater, even though I don’t really hate him; I just hate the way he and his dad represent themselves and this sport. Mike as a person is just fine. I know some of you might be reading this and saying “Well what right do you have to criticize how they go about doing things?” This is America, dipshit. I am literally granted that right by the Constitution. But that is neither here nor there.

Mike has been taking a lot of heat for the Tickle incident on Saturday, and I’ve already made my opinion clear on that and sent my heat, accordingly. I’m talking to the people in the screenshots above and anyone making similar comments: You are the scum of the earth. You are the reason that there are long lines at airport security (or even that airport security exists at all), and the reason that some kids cannot get into school without walking through a metal detector. Everyone who is not saying such horrible garbage is a higher form of humanity than you, and would progress the welfare of the human race far more efficiently without you. Your criticism is as far from constructive as it could possibly be, although I am 100% sure that you don’t possess the brain power and empathetic qualities to understand what constructive criticism is. I say stuff to be funny, all in the name of comedy and satire. It’s all just “talking shit”, if you will. There is no humor in your merciless hatred. Like, are you people actually trying to be funny? Because it wasn’t, at all. You are horrible at being funny, kind of like you’re horrible at most things. This is what happens when people who suck try at things. I still don’t like Alessi, but he is 1000 times better than you people."

sorry, he did it on purpose...ask ivan tedesco at glen helen...a few years ago...or ask jeff alessi about lazergate...always an excuse from the family and their followers...never taking responsibility...a microcosm of our inherently entitled and over-privileged societal momentum...

i just blacked out, what happened...
We should rewatch it.

Ok ok it is Alessi and in the past they may have found excuses, but since the lasergate I think they are more than aware no BS is tolerated anymore.

I do not know what was in Alessi's mind, but there is also a good probability it was the exact incident as with Stewart earlier this season when his hand come off the handlebar...

Now about the clutch argument, it is fully possible it got released when the contact has been made with Tickle.

P.S. Sorry it was not exactly the topic, I fully support the riders too in this kind of situation, it may be interesting to put a "behave & respect" on every tickets, or to make a logo on helmets, or to repeat it once at each event on tv ...

Post a reply to: Mike Alessi doesn't deserve this...
