Barcia should have waited on the haircut, he could have rocked a cool 80s style mullet.

Now there is a race I would like to see.
I wonder how it would go if all the 250f young guns had to race 125 pingers for a race. Woohoo

Anyone want to see yellow Yamahas? I like the Bradshaw bike too but one or a couple yellow YZF's would be sweet. I'm diggin' Barcias Honda as well.

Here is what sucks about the retro themed races... They dress up the bikes and gear to mimic the era I raced in. Now I feel really freaking old.

If the Kawasaki's have blue, I may cry... I loved them with blue.

Exactly, makes zero sense for Feld to put this on then just leave it up to the teams on if and to what extent they want to participate. Design graphics and hand em out, put em on or else lol

I talked to a team manager who's doing up bikes for this weekend. Picture chasing a bunch of different vendors for plastic, sprockets, wheels and more, for a bike that you'll use once.
But like Crush and I were getting at, someone in the promotion department (or whoevers idea it was) needs to at least have a hand in making sure the theme is carried out by all the teams. If that means chasing down plastic, parts, etc then so be it. As stated, it'll be great for the fans. Teams do one off stuff, it can be done. It looks worse to promote an event theme and only have partial participation than it would to just hold a regular event.

Trust me, I'm excited, I just remember the last retro event and feeling disappointed because there could have been more to make it truly special. Yadig?

Agree, and it if it is a regular thing every year at A2, it is not like it is a last minute thing for teams to get everything sorted.

How many of the factory or big teams run the graphics, chains, sprockets on the bike for more than one week anyway. Wheels yeah are a slightly bigger cost, but run them once then throw them on a practice bike for the year, better yet teams could sell the wheel sets after the race, I have no doubt they would sell for more than the teams pay for them!.

That's the difference between the business model for the monster trucks (where they own them all), and Supercross. In SX, Feld takes care of the track, show, and racing end of it. The teams handle their own business on the competitive side.

Understandable, I still think getting every team on board in some form or another is integral.

Here's the photo he's talking about, this was taken at Phoenix with the caption, "Spotted in the Phoenix pits... Is this for next week's "retro" race?!!"

Looks great, can't wait for Saturday!
