I thought sticking a front wheel in was racing, that's how he made all his passes. Confusing Dizzy I'm sure I'll get drilled by the 5 RV fanatics here in vitard land!Tongue

From Racerx:

Was it tough to work up? It looked like it took awhile.

It was tough. All of the guys were riding good, Ryan [Dungey] and especially Justin [Brayton], he was riding great. So it made it tough. You really had to make your passes stick, or else you would get into those battles like you saw some of the guys get into. The first five laps were pretty crazy, you saw guys just sticking it in everywhere. That’s probably exciting to watch for the fans, but as a racer, it’s like, let’s just calm down and start racing. You’re just waiting to get taken out, it just sucks to race that way.

Sounds like experience talking to me. People would do good to listen to RV and learn from him.

Maybe it's as simple as, if you're fast enough to pass then pass, otherwise don't do shit that will take us both out.

I thought he said that guys were sticking it in everywhere and he wants them to calm down, even though the fans like it.

Checking up looks like that sometimes and if he has no sack, who does?

Stewart is the definition of arrogance in the moto dictionary.

He needs to toughen up. He let RV by no problem, I believe he let Barcia by in a similar fashion, Kenny ran it in aggressive on both of them. He needs to start pushing back. He has everything he needs, he knows he can beat everyone out there. It just seems like he's "scared" when someone is coming up to pass him.

Can't say what Dungey would do but RV would just punt his ass into the cheap seats these days.

Make a pass, and get a gap, not just make a pass and have the guy come back at you in the next turn.

It must really suck to be a Dungey fan on weeks like this, Dungey started 2nd and finished third, RV started 9th and finished 1st, that has to sting a little....
I'm a Dungey fan and it doesn't suck at all. I like Ryan Dungey because he's a great athlete and representative of the sport, just like Ryan Villopoto is, not because he (Dungey) wins all the time. I feel sorry for blokes like you that only like a rider because he wins.

I'm not that guy.

I've been a fan of this sport since the early 90s and never (until RV) was my favorite rider "the guy".

I do agree though that bandwagon fans are lame.

exactly...

He wants to be in control of his destiny, and not have riders like Barcia determine it for him.

Anybody in his situation would be a little uneasy racing in what he described.

I think RV meant more along the lines that people are trying to win the race on the first lap instead of settling down after the holeshot and regroup and then charge instead guys are going wide open in to every corner on the first lap.. Nothing arrogant about that in the slightest way

Now that is some good racing. I love that JS will at least fight back and not give up...even with RV is .5s a lap faster...and I think that RV enjoyed the racing.

He comes across as being super cocky. Doesn't even make eye contact with Jim Holley in the interviews, I am old school and that to me is just a lack of respect or he is super shy. Maybe that is just the way he talks and its my imagination, but compared to the KING McGrath he sure could learn something about being friendly and not look at himself at another level to other people because he can ride a motorcycle fast. Acts like the media are wasting his time. Of course McGrath is very social and that makes it easier to talk to people. Villopoto seems pretty shy as a person, maybe that just comes across as cocky.

You mean like James' interview with Holley this week? No eye contact either...Huh what a dumb statement.

McGrath grew up in a different era and just happens to be a very likeable guy. Most of these guys are home skooled, socially retarded kids, that have been told they are better than everyone else their whole life! I wonder how many interviews they have to do at each race now with the net and TV... the expectations put on these guys is unreal.

Who gives a shit? They're motocross racers, not running for office...

Eye contact is supposed to be with the camera not Jim Holley.....LOL

RV was a very quiet young man when he was just starting to race in the NW and I am sure he is still the same guy. He is far from COCKY.

The talent and commitment RV has is exceptional....................

RV wants to race on his terms, and according to his rules...not anybody elses. He just wishes everybody would leave him alone and let him win races.
