Gutted for Stew! Oh man I thought he was gonna have a nice come from behind win! He looked solid all night, then Supercross shows it's cruelness! He definitely made an attempt to get back on the bike. Not sure I'd wanna ride a modern supecross track with bars like that.

We do know that Stewart and Tomac will have a tougher road to the championship than the other contenders.

Actually, with a field this deep, points are a lot easier to make up as long as RV, CR, RD aren't winning week in and week out. However, Stew does need to finish on the box from here on out.
This is true.

RV did it last year.

Man, he was riding so stinking great.

I get so frustrated. Not only with his luck but also the people saying that he doesn't try. James was far and away the fastest man on the track as he started about mid pack and was about to catch Kenny (who rode brilliantly, btw).

Last year everyone complained saying he was settling for 5th and 6th etc and not really trying to win, not being Bubba and having that burning desire to win. This year, first race, he is killing it and going for the win and just an unfortunate kick sends the bike flying.

The guy can't win with the media or a lot of the fans. Aggravates me to hell.
I hear you, but remember it's only a bunch of vitards here on this site. The truth is that stadium was full of people who paid to see RV push it so hard he passed the fine edge and washed out, and Stewart ride the ragged edge and go for the win. The vitards don't like it, but the fact is people like Stewart are the reason the seats are full and the sport is popular.
Real fans of motocross and supercross respect Stewart and don't hate on him for trying to win.

Exactly, james has never acted like he cares about getting back on the bike in those situations. At least for sponsors/ team? Oh yea, forgot, in our sport today the popular guy is the one running around making a scene after a dramatic crash. Hope he is not truely hurt but would anyone be surprised if some random mystery injury pops up weeks from now related to the horrific crash? Why would anyone even make the Magoo reference? Jimmy stewarts tearbag aint half as big as danny chandlers heart.

The super slow motion replay Fox has is cool. Stewart stayed on the gas trying to save it until the bike was ripped from his hands. i would have let off as soon as the bike started swapping and went over the bars, head 1st into the next whoop.
Love him or hate him, he's a badass on a bike.

I'll second that.

Oh come on, why can't people take a joke!?!?!

It does suck but RC and a few others have said once you quit it gets easier to quit... Maybe James is injured and couldn't, but either way he's now 18 or so points down

What a joke. Throttle control to clear supercross obstacles is critical. Trying to ride a bike like that on a SX track is suicide. Plus...the throttle tube was likely bound up. Nonsensical comments from armchair riders... No way you could even contemplate riding that bike...

JS rode a great race... I hope he's okay, and the season continues to be a ripper!

Hey, who was the most fun racer to watch tonight? Bar none, this dude never ceases to amaze me with his talent and desire.

Too bad that the "sea blanket" or whatever Fro was calling it was a part of the equation tonight. Once he got sideways the rear wheel had ZERO drive.

lol do you really believe what youre saying?
He walked back to his bike but its just impossible. He's not racing against kids ffs...
The next guy he could have caught and passed was Weston Peick. If you really believe that he can pass him with bars that bent, you have no clue about racing SX. Try and race an SX track with bars just a little bit bent (not all the way down like Stewarts where, you could probably not even make a proper turn)

Awww.. Stewart was defenietly on the gas all night! Was so pumped for him. Came from like 10th, and worked his way to the top. As usual one of the best rides of the night, too bad he crashed out. *sobs*

New zook davidson !

On a more serious note, I am really happy that the season started. Stocked for KR, impressed by Bam Bam, sorry for Tomac & Stwart, surprised by Reed, just happy ! That is gonna be a great season !

Also Stewart was the last one to DNF, and with a bike mangled like that and 5 laps to go (plus the time lost in getting back on the bike) he would have likely got passed by the entire field, probably even partridge and peick who got lapped twice. That would have salvaged him... 0 extra points from the ones he already got.

How did he gamble? Should he have rolled the whoops? You do realize that hitting whoops takes commitment, you can't do it half assed. Too many people (you're a great example) complain about the stupidest shit. Like others mentioned above, he was riding great and wanted to win, why you would fault him for that is beyond me. And the first thing he did was run to his bike. Get a clue.

So bummed for Stew, he looked awesome right up until that point. Bubba's reputation for eating crap aside, I really think that was a freak crash and those whoops had been claiming riders all day/night. He was going for the pass on the lead after making quick work of all his main competitors. All you guys ripping on him, would you rather he just mailed it in for a 7th? Or go out in a blaze of glory while trying to make something happen?
