Sweet deal either way around. At least MXA and everyone has a good thing to gloat about.

That didn't seem like gloating, and while MXA has a long and strong presence at Glen Helen, they had nothing to do with this. Give Tom White and Jeff Surwall and Troy Lee credit for keeping the idea alive and helping bridge the gap, fans and enthusiasts for wanting to see a national back at Glen Helen, and Bud and Lori for working with MX Sports and the series in general to get back in the mix. Bygones have gone by, and I hope everyone comes out next May and enjoys the race, supports the track and the series, and sees a bitchin' track designed by Jody Weisel.

I echo your sentiment RE: didn't seem like gloating and thanks for the background on why this happened and who was involved. Life's too short to hold on to the past and I commend all involved for putting the past behind them. BTW it wasn't easy keeping this news quiet after you "tipped your hand" to me after the MXoN weekend.

Looking forward to being at GH on May 24th!

Glen Helen and their buddies can gloat all they want but at the end of the day during the last couple of years Glen Helen missed out on a ton of money and probably loss their ass on that GP meanwhile MX Sports has continued to grow... Who looks stupid now Jody?
That's one way of looking at it, another is this made everyone realize how epic GH really is. As far as missing out on a ton of money with the GP, I guess, but it also proved they can host an event of that caliber flawlessly, and oh, what do you know? They got the Des Nations for 2015. Who looks stupid now?

Well Jody's days consist of racing for free at REM track, on any (free) bike he feels like, designing a pretty bitchen national track, and flying his airplane over the track he designed, and probably got paid to do so.

Doesn't exactly suck!

This thread reminds me to renew MXA.

Had to call it in. Their security code box won't hold three numbers and wouldn't let the online purchase go through. $27.99 for two years and a free $25.00 coupon to Rocky Mountain.....sweet. Need a couple new kill switches and few other tires, tubes, chains, sprockets, air filters

I'm glad GH is back!! It belongs on the schedule. Good work DC.

But as far as MXA goes, I've been a subscriber forever.
I still enjoy the mag but never read Jody's box.
I get tired of his preaching and hearing how good he is. Seems like an arrogant ass.

When Jody told the MXA staff about the GH national I bet it went something like this
10/22/2013 7:05pm Edited Date/Time 10/22/2013 9:47pm
We are all stoked that GH is back and that "cooler heads prevailed"

Which of these two parties seems like the peace maker?

"Glen Helen gets its date back, Elsinore goes in the dumpster and the AMA Nationals look like they know what they are doing for a change" MXA and posted on Glen Helen's Facebook

Or

"Bygones have gone by, and I hope everyone comes out next May and enjoys the race, supports the track and the series, and sees a bitchin' track designed by Jody Weisel." DC: in this thread

My point is that DC and MXsports deserve a shit load of credit for trying to make this work. (lets hope it does and Jody and Feldkamp don't blow it)

With that said: I hope MXA exposes the drug ring that is obviously running inside MXsports. Cheerful

I'm just an outsider so I have no reason to think that the Glen Helen folks don't deserve an equal shit load of credit. I am happy they came together and plan on making my way down there for the season opener. Cool

Great news Davey.

So when is the rest of the schedule going to be announced so us Foreigneers can start making travel plans?

This is awesome news! Two wins for American SX/MX in one week... Stewart wins the MEC which IMHO was a great thing for the sport and now we have what is probably the baddest, fastest, knarliest track back in the outdoor mix. SWEET!

as for the OP's MXA gloating theory... huh and who cares?!

Better than Glen Helen then Budd's Creek....Shocked

Having the first two races in Ca. is an obvious advantage to the race teams to be able to get things dialed before heading out on the road.

The same Jody that says racers should pay for their bikes, and shouldn't ask for anything? Just be happy you get to race...
The same Jody that won't ride ANYTHING that is not free?

Yeah, he's a jackass and expect more dumb ass comments in MXA because they cater to the dumb ass part of the MX community.

Glad Glen Helen is back, but also glad I don't have to deal with the people that run that track anymore.

I think Jody is a bit of cocksucker personally... he's cut in front of me a few times during sign up at REM. But he's got it made and you can't fault him for that,

I don't fault him for that. I'm very happy he's been able to be successful in life and wish him the best moving forward in that regard.
I do fault him for being an ass to other people, and for acting like he's better than everyone.

It's great he thinks he's a living legend, but don't be a Dick to people.

This is my personal experience with Jody. I had to attend a conference out west and decided to drive, carry my bike, and race a REM race. I showed up at Glen Helen alone and walked up to this guy leaned against his truck not knowing it was Jody until we began talking. I told him I was 2000 miles from home alone and gave him my contact info just in case. He helped me every step of the way, showing me sign up, introducing me to people in the industry, and even had Tom White interview me at riders meeting. All because I was a principal attending a conference and wanted to race REM bad enough I drove there instead of flying. I hung out with the MXA guys all day and had the time of my life thanks to him.

I miss the old Crazy Dave/Chicken Licks Raceway Jody's Boxes from back in the day.

Back in the 80s MXA was where it was at. They've always had the best reviews and tech reports, but they lost me when they started taking themselves so serious. That they took so long to come around to the internet didn't help them either.

Still, it's nice to have a different viewpoint available. Love em or hate em, they do provide that.
oh he still writes them, he cuts and pastes them into today with a little twist of update, he writes nothing new just the same old crap.

Of course some of the Vital jokers get it wrong on here.

No "gloating" going on..............."it's just business."
