A true 360

I understand how they're pulling back the near backwards whips but a few more degrees and they could be pulling back the opposite direction doing a true 360. How long until someone figures it out?

Always kinda wondered the same thing. Must be the gyro of the bike not wanting to go all the way. With foam pits n stuff they'd have done it by now I'd think. They do a lot more scary shit than that lol

There is a video on YouTube of Mcniel trying to rotate a whip all the way around into a foam pit. I will try to put a link up tomorrow if no one else finds it.

I remember metzger was trying to do a full 360 in a small pit bike. I will try to look for the video and post it here

Bilko already has, some of the ones in this video are definitely 360's (at 2.54 in this video)

I think its impossible to do a straight 360.

Have you ever tried on a mountainbike to block the read wheel and do a 180 "slide" (kinda hard to explain...) However, it is impossible to turn more than 180°. I dont know why, but thats physics and i think its the same at FMX Wink

That's because the rear tire is in contact with the ground.

Out of all the videos posted Faisst's was the closest IMO. I don't think we'll see a true 360 because they have to whip the shit out of the bike to get it to start spinning. If you don't whip it like they do I don't think there is enough force to spin it very well at all using just your torso. At least not on 200+ lb bikes.

I couldn't get the Bilko one to work but the first 180 of the Faisst one is essentially the backwards whip they were doing at the MEC brought back in a full circle instead of 180 clockwise followed by 180 counter. And not one of the sloppy backflips they were calling 360s a few years ago. Question answered.

Extremely heavy motorcycle wheels make this extremely difficult with the gyro effect. Once the bike gets 270 it almost always loses its rotation and falls over. I've seen a lot attempted and they all generally have the same effect. Can't say its impossible because there are already enough ridiculous things happening. I think this is why some people are able to front flip by getting the bike leaned sideways, and using that gyro to get the opposite effect.

That was amazing. That's the first time I've seen that landed. Of course you have to whip to start out, but everyone pulls it back before they land. That's why Faist's is so awesome IMO.

what's ironic is that in the bmx world, the dipped in inverted 360s are considered the best. and everyone wants to see a flat 360 on a dirt bike for some reason. I've done 360s over box jumps and spines on my bmx and the feeling is very similar to the helmet cam clip in the bilko vid.
