I think it's great. I find it hysterical when people get all butt hurt about it, calling him a "tease" and all. Unless you saw that instagram video yesterday of him riding a white Kawi at one of the Kawi test tracks....pretty sure thats where he'll end up, I said this back in 2010 and ill say it again he doesnt look good on the kawi personally I dont think the bike fits his style at all. I was right back then and hope im not this time because Id really like to see him back up front I just think he was out of options

I doubt he'll ride one for the 2014 season, but I honestly don't think the 2012 Honda would be a bad decision. He looked great on it AND he already has all his set-up info on it. He wouldn't have to start from scratch and that would put him way ahead from trying to dial in a completely different bike, IMO.

I know a lot of comments go back to 2012... And not to say Reed didnt look good then, but does one or two races early in the season really mean that things would have continued and that the Reed of Dallas 2012 is rellivant to now?

Dodger Stadium was round 3 correct? RV took A1, Dungey PHX... then Dodger.....During the first start Reed was pretty far back in the pack while RV and Dungey I think were up front...Then we saw the horrific crash with TC and Morais which sent the boys back to the gate.....Start #2, Reed was up front and the other guys were in the back....Reed thought he was chasing RV the whole race, which gave him some extra boost - then learned it was Weimer....He road a good race and got the victory.....the next week was Oakland where Stew took the victory while Reed and RV followed....then Dallas came....Reed looked good- but ate shit chasing RV and the season was over after 6 laps ... so I guess my question is.... Why is Dallas 2012 the focal point....sure it was a great ride - things were looking good...but certainly RV and co have stepped it up since then.....I think the RV of 2013 was stronger and faster than 2012.....

Not accurate.

2012 LA, Reed passed RD and JS early, and passed Weimer on lap 5.

I ABSOLUTELY love Chads tweets! I look forward to it all day. I check my Tweeter every time I go to the bathroom at work!

And it is official, that bike with the rear tire missing is in fact a 2012 Honda. Will he run it? Or is he using it to compare a Kawi side by side but we are only seeing the Honda?

Nothing wrong with running an older model bike. The King did it for years until the rigid era started.

I love seeing all the kids get their choanies wadded over CR's tweets.

WRONG. You need to try again, and definitely need your eyes checked. No shit the b/w pic is a Honda, but that's NOT what he's riding in the video . Look at the LACK of Honda 450 style header and look at the shrouds, front fender and plastic and you can see it's a KAWI in the vid. He probably posted both WHITE bikes just to screw with people, but they're not the same bike!

i looked it many times and stopped and zoomed and i dont see the honda style exhaust. And the front fender....yes, its a Kawi. I would hope that it was 2012 Honda, but im 98% sure that bike in the video is Kawasaki.

I'm right there with you. I'm sure that he has contractual obligations that he has to meet or he would let us in on the loop. Even if that is not the case it gives us something to talk about. If we knew what he was racing, what else would we be talking about?

Your response is logical but I HIGHLY doubt Honda is going to provide support if he isn't racing their current bike model. It's counter marketing and the general public will think Reed is essentially saying that Honda's current bike isn't the fastest.

And some of you saying Reed's riding style won't fit the Kawi confuse me. Just because RV rides it one way, doesn't mean Reed's riding style won't work on it.

I like the idea of Mitch and Reed teaming up.

Yep. I read somewhere that Honda came out and confiscated every last bike and part from the TwoTwo semi and warehouse. From that, and his very public distaste for the 2013 CRF450 I doubt that Honda is ready to give him anything...especially 2012 CRF's and parts to race a season. They are obviously done.

And I like the idea of Mitch and CR teaming up too. Two very astute businessmen, both could benefit greatly from the connection. TwoTwo could run the 450 team, leaving Mitch and Co. to concentrate on getting back on top of the 250's again, after having their asses handed to them by Geico Honda in 2013.

I'm excited to see what he's riding but the first thing I think of when I see his tweets is how bad Vital is going to melt down over them :-)

HMM lets see. 2 bikes with white plastics, one honda, one kawi.

I would say that CR is on the 2012 CRF and Deano is on the 2014 Kawi. Both with white plastics......

If his 2012 CR is the set-up he's trying to beat with his new ride, then it would make perfect sense for him to have both bikes available for side by side testing.

It's not like he's bound by any contracts that prevent him from riding another bike until he makes a decision.

I keep thinking the same. Maybe even the 09' Reed which was almost a half decade ago.
All that aside I hope he does come back and do well. I like seeing the old guys do well as I'm up there myself.

I thought at least SOME of you were supposed to know a thing or two about moto, and I wanted to assume ALL of you had common sense, but I am wrong

Somebody is riding a Kawasaki dirt bike in the video. The photo, is of somebody's Honda dirt bike. Chad Reed has knowingly been testing every bike to see what he likes best.

With this information, my guess would be that the Honda in the photo (assuming it's Reed's) is being used for a benchmark. He clearly liked the 2012 Honda's right? RIGHT? So he rides that, loves it, hops on another brand, try's to make adjustments to get a similar feeling to the Honda he likes.

It's that simple. Chad Reed is not currently contracted to ride any certain brand. Just like you and me, he can ride whatever he feels like at the moment.

Is it that hard to understand?

I love his posts and his "teasing." But I cannot comprehend the lack of common sense of some comments(both here and elsewhere).

Honestly, why would it be such a bad thing for him to ride a '12 model bike? The engine won't be a problem and they can still bolt factory suspension to the bike, so the only difference is the frame and plastics. This wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have the stupid production rule.

here is my take, the black and white photo is DEFINITELY a Honda 450, but who knows when that pic was actually taken.

The photo of the ass end of the bike is DEFINITELY a Kawasaki 450

The video of him riding on the track looks to me like a Honda but the Cycle news pics its definitely a Kawasaki...perhaps they had both there so in sumamry I have no doubt he is comparing the 2012 CRF to the 2014 KXF...there also seems to me to be no doubt, he will be on a Kawasaki 450 ...no way will he be on a Honda (not sure why anyone would think that he would be) ...why? Because Kawasaki's dont have hinges in their chassis like the post-2012 Hondas have (or so Chad says)

KTM/Husky fans, sorry but as much as you want it he is not going to be riding one in 2014
