Marc should be flattered by all the attention he is getting. Smile

The entire sport will not stop talking about him.

I'am sure he has gained many new fans also.

Great stuff.

So far the rest of the world has already sent over:

Reed
Langston
Metcalfe
Cooper
Bayle
Roncada
Albertyn
De Coster
Townley
Nicoll
Pourcel
Fonseca
Vuillemin

To name a few. I'm sure I missed a good couple of riders.
They seemed to be on your pace weren't they?
Or are these all American riders too?

Hey, all great riders.

But with the exception of DeCoster, which was another time, they all needed
time to adapt. I'm not dissing you guys.
Just face the facts, it's a little more intense over here.

Hats off to DeReuver, a class guy that I hope shows here again.

Tell me how Reed had to adapt? His first race (he was a lites rider btw) was A1 which he was riding to "adapt" he finished what 5th? That year in the lites class I think he won all but one of the sx races also, he also had a great outdoor year as a rookie.
When Reed came over he was fresh from the GPs, he was 125, a Yamaha I think. I watched Stewart pass him at Unidilla, slow down and let Reed catch up, only to toy with him. Hey, there was a time when we couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Hallman, Robert and DeCoster. They took no prisoners and showed no mercy. We accepted it, took our lumps and did what we had to do. Maybe it's time you guys tried to do the same. Now it's the "American air". Funniest thing I've heard all day hahaha.......Grinning

I think he meant Langston.
Except that the current outdoor champ is James Stewart -- the plate was handed over to him when he won the title.

I think he really showed how similar the speed is between AMA and FIM and that is always our argument.

Don't start screaming that the AMA guys are now much quicker and stronger, it isn't so guys.

Other than calling you guys euro trash, I don't really see what was deluded about my post. Are you saying that because I called you guys euro trash? Or because I stated we were faster?

You can't expect us not to trash talk when you euros come on here and do just that. You started the trash talking and when we mention something about the Des Nations, or how all your fast guys come over here and get beat, you get upset when we verbally fight back?

How was my post not rational? And how was it neanderthal?

And yes, you are the guys shooting your mouths off... and yes, we will win the des nations going away.

Everyone made such a big deal about Marc coming over and he COULD NOT HANG WITH OUR RIDERS! HE COULDN'T EVEN RUN THE SECOND MOTO.

Yeah, he did. But we already knew that. You don't have to convince every board member 'cause you can't.
You said it yourself mate:

American riders are faster in the US, Euro riders are faster in Europe. (and Stewarts beats everybody)
DeReuver and Hamblin recently proved that.
No, the numbers prove that most riders perform the same regardless of the series in which they compete. Examples:
- De Reuver: 10th OA in the GPs, 10 OA at Southwick
- Brown: 7th OA in 2007 World Championship, 7th OA at Glen Helen in 2007. Off the radar in the 2008 GPs, off the radar in the 2008 Nationals
- Hamblin: doing so-so in 2006 in the Lites class on Suzukis, did so so in the MX2 class on Suzukis
- Mills: raised white flag in Europe, fell off the radar in the US, too.

Let's see how Tommy Searle will do...

Why are almost all these type post started by Euros, then they complain when Americans defend the AMA series.

And will people quit saying he came from 25th. Good lord. I watched the race, he was at least in the top 15 going into the second turn, and the anouncer said top ten by a couple turns and I know for a fact because of the timing he wasn't less than 10th at the end of lap one. Almost right behing Ferry!!!

The guy is fast, we all get it. Not sure he really proved anything people didn't arleady know. And the Americans prove themselves every year in other countries at the MXDN. Which rarely comes to ours.

"I dont know why US riders dont have to come to the real world championship - why do foreign riders have to race in the US series and give the US riders home court adavantage all the time to prove their speed - that doesn't even make logical sense!? "

Why come here and worry yourself about that? Maybe facts are facts. They don't go because it's not worth it. Maybe you should ask why some of the best international talent has to come to the US maximize their income for the short career most guys have, especially if the US nationals are such a pissant series compared to the GPs.

The AMA guys are faster -- everytime we mention the MXoN you guys hoot and holler about how that is one only race and doesn't compare to the complete GP circuit. Then one of your guys comes over and gets third in ONE moto (in a race where the locals usually score well), completely fluffs the second, and you act like it is a fair comparison to the AMA guys on a whole.

You guys then make excuses about the heat, the air, the track, the bike, the flight, the food, the toothpaste, etc. etc. all the while America consistently produces the fastest riders. It's not only Stewart and Villo that are fast -- there are and have been many others and some (like Alessi) are out with injuries. These riders are groomed on U.S. tracks and our series (both indoor and out) is what makes our riders the fastest in the world. We prove it year after year and yet some guy comes over and gets third in ONE moto and you guys start antagonizing us with your BS. It's obvious that it's a bitter pill for you guys to swallow -- that bitter pill being the facts that our guys are faster -- but open up and say, "ahhhh" because you have some more coming pretty soon.

Oh hi!

Maybe you forgot... your current outdoor champ isn't American. Neither is your current indoor champ.

There are two sides to every story, and I almost made the mistake of getting caught up in this.

I have been watching this board the whole day looking for some inspiring information, or just to read something that will fire me up for my riding this weekend. I only get to ride on the weekends because I work, and I love this sport to bits so I trawl the web looking for inspiration.

It's Monday, I rode yesterday and have only 5 more sleeps till I ride again.

But right now I ask myself why do I keep coming here? In my opinion riders around the world should stick together, build each other up and encourage each other to go faster. Is Stewart faster than RC? I don't care that much, they're both great riders and watching them ride is a privilege in itself. Are AMA riders faster than GP riders? Yes, some are, no, some are not.

Why are we not standing together to stop the greenies from closing down every track across the world. This is a perfect place for people who love the sport here to unite and push it to the masses, but all you people seem to do here is bitch and fight.

To be honest so many of you guys sound like Maltese poodles yapping at each other from behind your screens, surely there are more important things in life to get so worked up about, if not relevant mx issues like us losing riding spots then surely causes like kids with cancer, abused children etc?

Just my two cents worth as I can't for the life of me work out how such a meaningless debate can cause blood to run so hot.

Shoot me down if you will, I have said what I wanted to say. I wish you all the best. May you all shave 2 seconds off your best times at your local spot this weekend.

As you drive into the parking lot the next time you ride, turn down the stereo just to hear the bikes firing up. Try not to smile as you smell the gas first run into your tank as the cold wind hits your face.

We are motocrossers. I am your brother. That guy you see in the mall, does he know what it's like to clear that double for the first time? No he does not, but we do.

Keep focus. This is motocross. This is life.

On that basic note, if your ultimate goal was to win a GP Championship, would it be logical to spend a year or two in the US racing against the fastest in the world, then taking that speed to the GP's and dominating?

I'm NOT suggesting that the GP riders are slow, you getting 3rd in the first moto would contradict such a foolish thought. But overall the speed, intensity, and conditions are more severe in the US. Given what you've seen of the overall US domination at the MXDN for quite some time now, the speed and endurance needed to run at the top of US MX for 2 motos, would you be a faster, fitter rider after competing in the US MX series?

Only Stewart is faster... and he may not be racing outdoors next year so that would be a pointless exercise. Brown actually used the GPs to get faster in order to win a US title. MArc has the speed to win in GPs and is racing against alot of the fastest riders in the world ... unfortunately there are about 10 guys that same speed in the World Championship. I dont think the speed is faster overall in the states - just bubba.

that intensity and aggression may not work for a GP series either, the tracks and motos and everything are different. Lots of guys from the US have came over and not won a GP title too. What may work in a US national championship may not be the key to a GP title and vice versa although BAyle Albee, GL and Reed have won in the US from GPs.

another point is Martin Barr scored no points in the GPs yet this season yet got 4 brilliant points at southwick ( injuries have hampered him this season so hopefully he can turn his GP season around this weekend in Ireland) and Steven Clarke did better in the US than he did in the British nationals the week before ( 10th and 17th)...... US is definitely not a level above GPs - different? yes - especially in climate which would take time to get used too but superior I dont think so. I mean its no sure thing that ferry could beat Billy Mac in the UK, Pourcel in France or Ramon and Strijbos in Belgium.

All riders are at their best on their own countries tracks.

Which riders do you have in mind as "lots of guys" in the modern era? Say, after 1990.

No one is shooting their mouths off. OK, how isn't my post logical? Maybe you and I are reading different posts... I'm not stupid enough to think our top 20 guys would finish first through 20th. Overall, our guys would place better. Everyone has one or two riders that are really fast. But our kids have the best farm system to bring them up in the sport. Our B level riders who finish top 5 at Loretta Lynns could probably come out and run top 20 in the GPs.

And no, Marc couldn't hang. He spent himself riding over his head in the first moto. He couldn't ride the second moto. I would be disappointed with myself if I had to pull out due to being physically unfit. And he is a pro? Come on. Southwick wasn't even that hot from what everyone says. And you guys race all over Europe? No heat or humidity there?

And no, Marc couldn't hang. He spent himself riding over his head in the first moto. He couldn't ride the second moto. I would be disappointed with myself if I had to pull out due to being physically unfit. And he is a pro? Come on. Southwick wasn't even that hot from what everyone says. And you guys race all over Europe? No heat or humidity there?
You got to be joking with this post???? You don't know shit about the weather in Europa and still making up up a complete BS-story.... Marc rides on rougher tracks like Lommel and Lierop twice 45 minutes full speed in the GP's, so yes he's is a pro.
It's just different, you can't compare these situations. Saying he should be dissapointed is a complete joke. He has nothing to prove in the States. He just had fun, showed GREAT speed and is now heading back for the next GP, where he will be on full speed again for another 2 races of 45 minutes.

He couldn't run two 30 minute moto's at full speed... Could he? Did he? What race were you watching? Seriously...

If I was a pro and ran a race outside of my series to prove I was fast and I couldn't finish the second half of the race, I would be disappointed. All that money and time and effort and he pulls out of the second moto because he was tired? How can you defend this?

Simple: he was not in Southwick to prove anything.

De Reuver comes from 25th in the first corner to finish third and then scores a DNF and you guys start to celebrate. Hahaha. I am not sure Marc could come from 25th on the first corner and finish third in a GP.

I think he really showed how similar the speed is between AMA and FIM and that is always our argument.

Don't start screaming that the AMA guys are now much quicker and stronger, it isn't so guys.

Geoff
He flew over the Atlantic, to run an AMA race (a much bigger stage than the GP's) at the best sand track in the US, he is a sand rider and he wasn't there to prove anything? I just lost any respect I had for you guys.

Post a reply to: I think all this celebration is a little.........
