Chad Reed 2014 Rumours?

I would assume he would eliminate green because the Kawi's geometry emphasizes rear wheel traction and stability, and Chad has been pretty vocal in the past about not gelling well with the bike. But that was a long time ago and the KX450F has come pretty far.

The Suzuki frame geometry is known to be extremely nimble with a front end that is very responsive and planted. The bike is so good it really has not changed much in the last couple years in comparison to the CRF, YZF and KXF which have all been developed a little further.... The only 'downside' is the RMZ is one of the heavier 450's.

Chad has stated many times if he can get the front end feel he wants, he can be comfortable. Reed is all about the front end traction. Example being Dallas 12' when Reed was so comfortable on the older Honda he was actually slowing down and reeling Villopoto back in with ease just mirroring him and trying to force him into a mistake. Chad was absolutely killing it that night up until the accident. If he can get on that level he is a championship contender.

A fit healthy and motivated Chad Reed on an RMZ could give Villopoto a serious run for his money in SX, I would say even more so than James or Ryan would be able to.

The wildcard in all this is Millsaps, he could come back just as good as he was on the Suzuki or even better on the KTM, which is bad news for the top guys. I definitely can see Millsaps taking it to another level and battling for wins if the KTM is a good fit for him.

I hope Chad rides Suzuki. We'll just have to wait till Friday and find out.

Matthes more or less said he was done at Honda in his last Observations column (very well written by the way. Kudos.) So I think its safe to say you can write off CR22 on a Honda next season. Fingers crossed here he is back on a Zook. He looked great on that bike.

Note: the following post has too much info for Short-attn-span sufferers...

Chad touches on something Very, Very, VERY interesting...

Sometimes the "Latest" version of a bike AIN'T THE BEST...

So, imagine, if he were to have the Balls to go out and buy 8 (yes, he could do it wth 8!) 2012 CRF450Rs...?
Imagine if Honda had the Brains to support such an effort? (There are plenty of '09-'12 450Rs out there & that's a lot of parts across Dealer's parts counter! Also, they could do it via their Lubes & accessories depts-think HRC Bling Parts...)
Also, '12 Kit stuff still avail & he DID HAUL ASS ON THAT THING! (hint, that ain't a "New" motor).

Alas, there are folks who would be Ubber-Butt-Hurt if he went out & shredded on a '12. Especially at a certain building in the Roppongi Hills of Tokyo...yup, the '13 has "issues"...aka, the "Hinge in the Middle".

And that's EXACTLY WHY HE SHOULD DO IT.

Chad, DO THIS!

Prove the point that "it's what you do with the bike"...not necessarily the "New-Cool-Guy-Bike".

Soichiro would do it.

Wonder if he is setting up a moto school ? Like the rcu or something . Might be it if he's decided to close the team and do one more season with another team .

The '13 has issues with the linkage? Certainly no more than the '09-'12 did.....much, much less really.

Reed is tweeting about the previous generation bike to piss some people at Honda off....nothing more.

Soichiro wouldn't do it. I can say that with 100% certainty.

I bet that tweet means he liked the '12 Hondas, but not the '13s or '14s.

yeah he likes to slam the manufactureres after he leaves them, pretty poor taste really. Honda will be spewing given the support he has given him. but good luck to him with the next manufacturer i am sure they all cant wait until he leaves them and bags them as well.

Hope he does the new manufacturer justice in 2014.

that Kawasaki he could not get on with seemed to go alright as well, and he won a race on that bike,

Honda makes the majority of its profit from selling bikes, it makes no sense to pay someone to promote a bike that they no longer make or sell, he may be able to find the bikes from dealers to make this happen, but it would be a bit more expensive than he is used to,

touchee, but when they could not hide it anymore that it was not the current model, and were going to force him to ride the 97 alloy frame bike, he left,

also, did you notice every factory supported honda rider ran twin pipes,

What is this hinge in the middle feeling he's talking about? Didn't they extend the swingarm on the '13? My buddy just picked up his '14 and it seemed that the swingarm was longer then the 09-12's.

God the guy seems to just love fueling all these rumours. Seems to tweet about people always saying they know wheres he going and are wrong but then throws out these dumb tweets to confuse people. Just turns the rumour mill himself. All this could be avoided IMO

You've missed the point...along with a few others.

The Hinge in the Middle ain't about the Linkage...it's about the frame.

The other point you missed is about Simplicity meeting Performance: Be careful what you claim to know about the old man...you might wanna go find some of his epic quotes.

The Equipment DOES matter....for instance.

The '12 was the Best SX bike made (450).

Go bounce that off of Chad and a few others that raced it.

I'm jus' sayin'...

Since when did CR start wearing an older Leatt again...old picture. Good try though.

As I noted before, he's going KTM.

yet the first of that generation was hated by all that rode it, (2009)

not sure why Chad does not think this generation would get better with more testing, I have no doubt that Barcia, Tomac, Canard and Hahn will not have any disadvantage come A1

No need to get upset because I'm an "insider" and you're not playa. I'm looking forward to seeing Reedy kill it next year just as much as you are! One more pic to prove my point.
