no smart carbs, we tested them but since it was so new we didn't want to chance anything

will do a lot with them over the off season

I see. Thanks for clarifying. Did you guys use the smart carb at the other rounds or is my information incorrect?

28th overall. Thats very impressive to me. Hell just the fact he qualifies on a 2 stroke is amazing but to go out and place in front of 12 other riders is even better.

Damn that's awesome! Good job Robbie and TSM. Robbie is the guy to score points on that bike. If he keeps racing it hell only get better. The white bike looks sooooo sikk too.

Are y'all racing MEC or SX? Sorry if I missed that PR. Xgames would've been cool. Also, are you guys gonna jump into the GPs next year in the 2stroke class?

That's lame!!! I thought it was an open class, ride any size bike. Oh well, one step at a time. Will a 250sx be an advantage or disadvantage on a SX track and against 4strokes?

Marshall was in the points for a good portion of the 2nd moto. Really wanted to see him stick there. I can't imagine he's fully up to speed yet after that lengthy shoulder recovery.

Robbie rode well at Dilla. I loved hearing the smoker out there! That thing sounded mean.

This is a stupid comment.

You won't get invited because your not competitive for the talent that will be there, Has nothing to do with how many strokes your bike has.

I know you have comprehension problems.

Marshall is a good rider no doubt, TSM implies they won't get invited because of the 2 stroke they ride and we both know this is not true.

While I hate to agree with 500guy because I'm a Marshall fan, the guy has basically nothing in the way of SX results the last few years. Certainly nothing that would warrant an invite to something like the MEC.

Sure would be fun to see Marshall in MEC -- on that bike but with a 380 engine stuck into it!

Come on dude, read what you wrote...

YOU: "you won't get invited because your (you're) not competitive for the talent that will be there..."

ME: Marshall can ride supercross well

So how am I not comprehending?

That is assuming he'd still be on the TSM program and he has done well in Arenacross. Could he fight for a spot to qualify for MEC? Absolutely imo

2 or 3 years ago he rode the mec I believe. In turn the 2 stroke could play a part in not being invited since the industry will not support the efforts. Huge bummer. great ride by Robby yesterday. He's a very fast and talented rider.

Rule Change Time!!
Lorenz and Laporte can't quite qualify. Lorenz has qualified on a 450. Marshall can qualify but still has better finishes on the 450 efforts. Even Emig says we could never do what these 4t's do on our old 2t's. The rules changed when it wasn't fair for the 4t's it is way past time to level the playing field.
500 guy I think what two smoke should have said was Marshall would have a much better chance to get a invite on a 450 4stroke.
8/11/2013 5:31pm
no bc i dont believe that either, in TSM's current position i dont feel that we would be invited this year, next year perhaps? that's another story.

that's really what i should've said

FI2T- i'll tell you one thing, its not the bikes that are holding the riders back. If the 250f's can do every jump out there and if tomac can throw down the fastest laps of both classes, than the 250 2 stroke is more than competitive.

Little background on what happened this weekend. Lorenz fell in the first turn on the consolation race and got stuck in the fence and had to be cut out. went from 38th to 17th.

Nathan fell in the first turn as well in the consolation race and had to come from behind just like jerry. They both have the speed, the bikes were better than they've ever been this weekend and all the riders were very comfortable on them.

You can't tell me that the bikes aren't good enough to qualify and even score points.

I am a big fan of TSM! I love my 2t's but I can honestly tell you there have been no major 2t efforts for a long time by anyone other then TSM.... Because of the rules.

The 4t regardless of 250 or 450 requires less shifting and a smoother much broader power spread. Just an opinion but even a 2t with more peak power would be a disadvantage for MOST mx/sx riders.

Tomac is on a different level right now and the 250f is closer to a 2502t then they are to a 125. Not a fair deal for a 125? Take it all for an opinion or a compliment your choice. I think the TSM team is doing better then they should be based on the rules.

I do think cc for cc could level the field. I would buy a 4502t tomorrow if we had the choice! I also think top riders and teams might try a 4502t. They are not likely to consider a 250 against the 4504t.

I quoted your post last, not twosmoke30's post. If you don't think I comprehended what you and everyone else wrote then I don't know what to tell you other than you're wrong.

MEC is a one of race that is different in nature anyway, wouldn't it come down to someone like Marshall getting an invite and then at that point they can bring whatever bike/sponsors they choose? Maybe TSM can do some kind of open invite to riders that get invited to MEC and can ride the 250sx Cool

Is there any other video of Robbie racing? I would love to see some footage to see the differences in his lines on the 2 stroke.

As far as not being competitive. Physics don't lie even with a 200cc disadvantage the 2 stroke could easily win on hp, torque and ride-ability. There's really no conspiracy, it looked like the epa was going to kill of 2ts, companies wanted to be green, and the change came too quick to have a clean 2t out. The 2t image came with a lot of baggage and it was easier and more profitable to jump to 4ts. Now 10 years down the road there's proven clean technology, it has always been superior and it will make a comeback. In fact there's a good chance your car could have a 2t in the near future.

Honestly for 99% of riders it doesn't matter anyway. A 1980s Honda just made it to Loretta's and did well. Robbie Marshal just placed 22nd in a moto with a group of the fastest riders in the world on a bike with 200 less CC's and a fraction of the development 4 strokes have gotten in the last 10 years.
