For years I've held the opinion that a well dialed-in older bike could hold its own in all but the pro classes---an idea that hasn't always been well received by my friends

. Thank you Jerry for validating this train of thought and congratu-frigging-lations on your great rides! Now go out and get a good start in moto 2!

He probably used the Vital MX vintage class fund to trick it out! Wink

I honestly didn't think he was going to do this good. Somebody should make a movie out of this story line.

Is this Plessinger kid related to Scott Plessinger the off road racer?
Yes, Scott's his father.

Lets see:

1) 28 yr old engine design
2) two stroke
3) carburetor
4) steel frame
5) drum rear brake
6) conventional forks (with gators even!)
7) virtually zero practice with the bike at the track
8) riding muddy, slippery conditions with a two stroke powerband

and he finishes ninth!

Simply outstanding and sure challenges current thinking on what equipment is necessary for kids to be competitive.

Great ride Jerry!

Did he run leaded fuel?Wink

Sweet! I couldn't wait to check in after work. Hopefully he's improved his start position for round 2. That 9th and a couple of great starts could have him up from this moto's top 20% to who knows? the fastest 10%?!?
Push hard young man! & hang in there old iron!

What a great ride. He came from way back to a top ten. Most of the bikes in that class are the best money can buy and I know that one of them that he was running down is a JGR bike. Maybe a top ten start will put him on the box. Either way great job Jerry.
. that's a impressive ride but the box is a pretty big stretch. plessinger, sayanai, hoeft, worth and smith . your not going to break that top 5 and sayanai had a mechanical with his bike that moto. all 5 of those kids ride about everyday and train at facilities and have serious backing, pretty deadly combination

And here is 250B. Kid is a freaking genius for racing that bike. Wozney gets video of him even when he is outside the top 10 simply because it's what the fans wanna see. Great riding too.

250B class
Aaron Plessinger leads from start to the checkers.

Jerry was 17th on lap one, and moved up to 13th lap two.
Lap three was in 11th, but dropped to 14th on lap four and five.
Up to 13th on lap six half way flags waving.
Got another spot into 12th on lap seven with something happened toJordan Smith.
Zach Commans has problems and Robin goes to 11th on lap eight and nine.
White flag on lap ten Jerry is 11th trailing tenth by 0.616. 9th through 11th less then 2 seconds apart.
Checkers come out Plessinger wins and Jerry gets two rider on that last lap finishing in 9th place.

Awesome race Jerry congrats!
Only a guess, but I think he crashed in lap 4. Back to 9 would be even more impressive.

While it was muddy Jerry's times were right there with everyone but the top 3. It'll be interesting to see if he's still on pace when it's dry.

Thats why I said that. on alot of his laps he was top 5 and in trafic. I still think that getting on the box is possible. It might not happen but it is possible with his speed.

sharkey Thats what makes it all that much better. sayanai has a bunch of new Kawis and like you said,he ride every day at club mx and this kid is running the same lap times. That is very impressive to me. I guess the old saying is true. "money cant buy talent"

I thought the guys here were saying the problem riding the smoker vs. the thumpers was supposed to be in the mud? Wink
