I think were seeing the best speedwise out of Dungey, Stewart, Carnard and it's not enough to consistently beat RV and Barcia is going to have to really work on his Fitness is he wants a Shot. So! that leaves the unanswered question if Tomac, Roczen or Baggett moving up next year to the 450's are going to be able to come out and make an immediate impact and try to wrestle those SX and MX titles away from the Poto. Don't know if Musquin is moving up, but maybe that guy will be the next big thing in the 450 class. Whoever it's gonna be is going to have to take their Fitness to the next level like RV, maybe Eli will surprise us next year, since he's really in good shape and has that Raw speed on the 250f, but I really think Roczen is gonna shine on the 450's

Dungey will continue to be on his heels keeping him honest.
But I really dig Barcia and think out of the current and foreseeable future riders on big bikes he will be next in line.

I think Villopoto will retire by the time Eli reaches the level he's at now, on his tiddler, in the big bike class. So no one.

It appears to me that 3 guys really want to, and have the ability to, go after RV.
Stewart, Canard and Dungy.

With RD it all boils down to the same thing that has plagued him for many years. LUCK!! Dang gas cap, chain, no fire, whatever it is???" It just keeps showing up. Bad luck Bad luck!. Dude is MORE than patient in my book. I would have grenaded several times in a way that made TA look like a 4th of July sparkler. (Hell I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would help -War Games)

Stewie is showing very respectable up hill progress. Looks like he is getting his machine set up in a way that he is comfortable going into that edge of envelope speed we all know he has. Also he looks to be using less and less energy too. He has earned a ton of respect from me since the Bubba's world days. He has had a rough rough year and is still pressing on. If I could just get a sprinkler dance out of him now that would the the capper!

Canard. Well what can we say. One of THE most likable loving guys we have ever met. He has some crazy scrub-fling-whip speed. I was just wondering when we'd see that in him again. And all the sudden Saturday he busts it out.

I think it will eventually be one of these three. They all just need a little more momentum.

No one needs to. RV is starting to unravel on his own just like BobbyM said and Dunge will be there waitingGrinning flame on squids!!!

I hope Tomac does. But I dunno if I'm counting on him just yet in his rookie season. That would be sikk though!

I want a lot of other people to win besides RV, but if he really is going to stick to his plan of retiring after his contract is up then no one will topple him. He will retire on top. Unless they do something crazy to his bike or the others find something awesome on THEIR bikes, he will finish these next two seasons with some more championships, barring injury of course. The other guys are so close and I honestly believe that if Dungey could up his 1/4 race pace he would beat him more often but that's not likely to happen. Or he gets some of Dungey's luck, but that's another story.

I think RV is going to keep whooping up on the Dunge, and then out of nowhere just hang em up at the last round (probably in2015 Im guessing).

One that guys like you and me dream of but never achieved. In fact, a level that even guys like the Alessi camp admittedly know they're nowhere near.

I was wondering the same thing, I mean with the eye injury and all. You know his team is keeping it quite though. Never expose a weakness. A couple more weeks to heal should be good...

I cant even imagine how it would feel to be in Dungey's shoes if/when Poto hangs em up and Dungey never has the satisfaction of beating him. Could you imagine, year after year, putting in the hard work, tweaking the bike and coming up just short and then bang, the guy that's been beating your ass hangs em up and hands you a couple years of #1 plates, and you know damn well in your heart that those #1 plates are only yours because the other guy let you have them? What a mind fuck that would be. Dungey has to be one of the most mentally strong people around to put in all this work year in and year out only to have his destiny in someone elses hands? Someone like Alessi puts in the work but he knows in his heart that a top 3 in the series is about all he has got and prepares accordingly. Dungey on the other hand prepares for war and is hands and fists above everyone else, but knowing he cannot beat RV, he could probably back it way down on the preparation and still come in 2nd just as he is now without the 150% dedication. Its got to be tough mentally to be in a position like that.

For RV, its the opposite, he wakes up every morning knowing that if he keeps doing what he is doing, no one will ever BEAT HIM for a title. When he is sick of winning or starts to feel bad for Dungey, he can simply just walk away with the satisfaction that he was always top dog.

All them guys are flying, amazing speed, maybe all aren't frustrated or freaked out maybe they are proud to be there? Tomac will take him down though, he is still improving.

No need to worry, we have such good racing to watch for the next few years. They are all improving even RV, (he rode that KX right into the ground Hannah style this week and came back swinging) the young guys will be taking over eventually and we will see other rivals go at it. Looks like a win win for us true MX fans. Meanwhile you fishermen and fantards keep us entertained on the off weeks. Thanks

Gotta love how you're only as good as your last race in the minds of MX fans.

I'm sure Dungey feels a whole hell of a lot like Villopoto felt for the first sixteen years of his life against Alessi.

RV is has some specific technical areas where he is pulling a lot of time out of everyone else. You can see it in SX as well as MX,...and I am not talking just the corners. Other riders need to watch film....and pay attention. There is no reason they can not refine their skills the way RV has. Until they break out of their train train train..moto moto moto mindset...and start going back to basics...and figure out the exact techniques RV is using...they will not beat him consistently. It is out there in the open to see...anyone can...if they just look.

But who has the best shot ()not counting RV beating himself by balling it up)?
1. RD if he goes to school..
2. ET in 2 years...
3. JS will beat him in a SX here and there when he is feeling in synch...like Atlanta.

You are an asshat, or have GOT to be dripping in sarcasm..... You make it sound like RV is leagues better then RD. If it wasn't for RD's DNF at Red Bud....how would the points look? Really friggin close! (12 pts) They are incredibly close on skill and speed, RV seems to get the better of the two, but his stats could be a lot different without Dungeys DNF's. RV has never beat RD outdoors for a title where RD hasn't had a mechanical. That is fact. Just like RD hasn't won an outdoors title without an injury from RV. I'd just friggin love these two to complete all 24 motos in a season then there could be fair bragging rights. We have yet to see it.Sad

BTW....RV is King of SX.
