Geez has there been one thread about his dominating performance to pull within one point of Roczen? 500 shitty PED threads and nothing about the actual race. I see Tomac leaving Millville with the red plate. Rough track, sandy, the whoops. Conditions seem right up his alley and if he nails his starts, forget it. Who does everyone see leaving the race with the red plate?

"if he nails his starts"

Exactly, if Tomac nails his starts from here on out, Roczen is in trouble!

But, could Tomac choke again is he gets the point lead?

He does seem to have mental lapses if you wanna call them that. Just as recently as Red Bud. Silly crash in the 2nd moto was costly

1 point and I guess 8 motos?

It'll be who makes a mistake because they both will get 2nd even with a shitty start.

The difference right now in speed is obviously on Tomacs side when you look at lap times over the whole moto, but Ken is killing Eli on the starts. Eli needs to at least start near Ken if he wants to win this title because Ken isn't going to just toss this one away. I see this going down to the last moto of the year with both guys having to lay it all on the line in a heads up battle for the ages.

I predict Roczen will come back strong at Millville, track should suit his style and if he gets the holeshot he's gone, or like Mount Morris he goes from around 10th to first in one lap.

Best case scenario would be for the championship to go down to the last round so we get to see that battle for the ages. I'm really hoping for a 1-2 point difference between the two. I like both of these guys and think they have great futures ahead and wouldn't be upset to see either of them win the championship. But I gotta root for Tomac a little more for the pure fact that he's American.

i think they'll both be strong at millville but i'm sure ken is fired up after following eli around at washougal
do you think fatigue (over training) will catch up with tomac again like the end of last year?

I wrote this before Washougal but didn't post it so I've updated it slightly. I would agree that the momentum seems to have swung towards Eli now, but it will come down to consistency

-----------------------

I was interested to see if all this talk about Tomac getting terrible starts was accurate so I actually went and watched all the races back... now obviously these are just my observations from watching the video's so you might refute his position in a few circumstances where it's close, but I've tried to take various aspects into account and be as fair as possible.

Roczen hasn't exactly been holeshotting every race; he started 11th in race 2 at Tennesse, 11th in race 1 at Southwick, 12th in race 1 at Washougal for example. Tomac has actually started four motos in front of Roczen this season but finished behined him.

Tomac has started outside of the top 10 five times in sixteen motos so far - the Lucas Oil website has him down as having started outside of the top 10 four times, but they count positions from the end of the first lap. That doesn't seem like a fair reflection of someones 'start' to me, as 2 minutes of actual racing have elapsed by then.

Hangtown
Moto 1 - 6th into the first turn (finished 2nd)
Moto 2 - 11th into the first turn (finished 3rd)

Thunder Valley
Moto 1 - 5th into the first turn (finished 2nd)
Moto 2 - 4th into the first turn (finished 1st)

Muddy Creek
Moto 1 - buried in the pack (finished 4th)
Moto 2 - holeshot (finished 1st)

High Point
Moto 1 - 6th into 1st turn (finished 3rd)
Moto 2 - about 8/9th into 1st turn (finished 4th)

Budds Creek
Moto 1 - buried in the pack (finished 5th)
Moto 2 - buried in the pack (finished 1st)

Southwick
Moto 1 - 3rd into 1st turn (finished 1st)
Moto 2 - buried in the pack (finished 2nd)

Redbud
Moto 1 - 3rd into 1st turn (finished 1st)
Moto 2 - 7th into 1st turn (finished 2nd)

Washougal
Moto 1 - 6th into 1st turn (finished 1st)
Moto 2 - around 6th/7th into 1st turn (finished 1st)

Roczen's starts have been just as bad as Tomacs. Roczen seems to get through the first lap or two better though.

Tomac is also a bigger guy then Kenny could be why his starts arent as good as some others. Maybe Bell will be back this weekend and got some holeshots again. Surprised AC hasn't gotten any.

Plus Kenny struggled at Millville last year. It isn't going to be warm this year so we will see. He went 4-3 and ET went 2-1 by a long ways.

was just thinking back to elsinore last year and its obvious how hard the guy trains and its a long season

Not much between them on the starts really, fastest laptimes are similar too

Roczen had made more passes early on to get to the front, when Tomac has been in 2nd place behind him, correct me if I'm wrong but its not like he's slashed the lead down from 10-15 seconds to nothing,Southwick is an example

I wonder when team orders will start happening if they do?
i bet Ken was wishing they had kicked in when MM was hunting him at the end of that moto Smile

It's weird, I'm a fan of both guys. But I see ET walking away with the title.

dont think either of them will 'take control' - both have been dominant at times- the momentum is slightly in tomacs favour at the minute but ken still has the points lead! dont forget musquin though, and osborne! Both capable of getting in between tomac/ roczen to shake up the points (both have already) - its gona be a dogfight to the end of the season, hopefully kenny comes out on top!

I'm pulling for Tomac. I've said it a lot and I'll keep saying it. His family is one of the unique families in professional motox and is an awesome example for kids to look up to. I think his "mental lapses" as some may call them are actually due to his speed. He's riding as close to the edge as RV does and it bites a rider from time to time. It bit RV when he was at Eli's level and I think Eli is definitely learning as RV seems to have. Can't wait to see him on the 450!!! I think he'll be a beast. I Just hope RV signs another contract so we can see how ET compares his second year in the 450's.

I like Roczen a lot too though. He seems to be focused the right amount for his situation. If he were to eliminate chipotle, and surfing, I think he'd burn out.

Villopoto should be worried about next year. Wont take long at all for ET to get up to speed on the 450. Monster cup proved that.
If RV is planning on 2014 being his last year, hope he's cool going out on a sour note cause Eli's gonna beat him.

Tomac would have left Washougal with the points lead & red plate if Baggets bike did not die in moto 1.

I think Eli will take control but it will be a close race to the end.

They are so closely matched that I won't be disappointed if either wins the title. Not going to lie though, national pride has me pulling for Tomac.

really dig them both but i've become a really big Roczen fan. i really like that he is able to have fun off the track and still kill it on the track. but like others have said, i would not be bummed to see either guy win it over the other

What do yall think of Eli breaking both of John's arms chasing him down the hill? Pretty impressive that Eli can whoop up on his dad downhill.

Didn't Eli say it was a section that he gets off and walks, but his dad decided to take it on and ended up crashing?

It sounded like Eli was whooping him uphill and John was trying to catch up going downhill . Good thing Eli kept it on two wheels
