For what it's worth, I personally appreciate Jeff's admission and apology for the incident he triggered at Washougal with the laser and I really hope everyone can move forward, especially Mike Alessi, who has had to endure a lot of unfortunate and harsh criticism. I am also glad to hear that Mike Genova and Motoconcepts.com has decided to stay with his athlete and team for the rest of the season, as they are a big part of the sport and have done a great deal for motocross.

Thank you, Jeff. I hope everyone can start moving forward and start focusing on the racing again.

When should we expect Tony's apology to DC and the entire MX community?

Those of you who have said there is no way he wrote this and that the sentiments are not heartfelt are spot on. These folks have been so disingenuous for so many years that it is hard to believe anything they say. The whole bunch was caught red handed, did their normal deny to the death and accuse everyone else of everything under the sun...and then saw that it would not work this time. This is nothing more than a way to try to defuse the whole deal and to try to take the heat off of the rest of them.

Now...where is the hat in hand apology from dear old dad for his behavior and his false accusations ...assault, drug ring, etc.? If not forthcoming quickly it is just evidence that the posse had Jeff fall on his sword to save the rest of them and hope people move on.

This may be a step forward (if genuine), but should not make folks forget what really happened here, what these folks have done for years, and what these people are really like.

Anyone counting down to the next implosion?

We should move on from here and get back to the racing...and give a chapeau to MX Sports, Matthes, and DC for showing some real self control and professionalism in the face of a total lack of it.

Good to hear Jeff. This ends up hurting your brother the most but hey he's your brother. He will always love us. Just try to think before you act from now on. Good luck...

YO JEFF!!!! Your apology reads as very, very sincere......bullshit. No way in hell you wrote that. If that same person writes one up for your dad,I can hardly wait to read it, as it will be funny as all shiit!!! LOVE the way you pin everything on your on again, off again girlfriend, ex girlfriend or whatever she is.....If there actually is one, which I doubt, she should have punted your nuts hard enough to have landed you on the curb, where she should have left you.

Perhaps Tony could use the next PulpMX show to make a sincere and heartfelt apology?

I'm really surprised to see the amount of people who were bashing the Alessi's so hard in the other threads just let it all go from a single "I'm Sorry." Funny how internet message boards work.

Let the Alessi circus continue....

That a' boy Jeff! Good to see you own up for your mistake,,, god knows we all have made some!
7/24/2013 6:08am
god don't know fuckall!!!! JA is only sorry because he got caught

Why are you all congratulating him on owning up to it?

He stretched that lie out for DAYS, and only when he realized it wasn't going away did he finally come clean. There is nothing honorable in that. Tis court of public opinion is inconsequential anyways.

He showed his true colors at Washougal. He is a no talent punk who has zero skills in life. The one thing he does moderately well doesn't even pay the bills. The flatbills must have gone to his brain because he even seems to think that he can fight.

Jeff and his father just need to fade into nothingness and let the one family member with the talent do his own thing without this trainwreck of a family follow him.

Well said. Had to be hard to do. In the future, make the hard decision BEFORE doing the dumb things. Apologies don't really right a wrong, but they do set the stage for moving on. Time to move on.

Its good that Jeff did this. It gives the "public fans" an apology that we somehow felt we deserved. And we did deserve it because it hurt the sport we all love.
It allows a healing process of some sort to those willing to start here.
Notice I said "willing".
It gives Jeff the opportunity to apologyze again in private to the individuals he needs to beg forgiveness from.
It hopefully will give MA800 the opportunity to make tough decisions for himself on who he associates with, ( Tony ),
and he needs to once again try and find a team willing to give him a shot racing and representing their brand.
This apology isn't the end all, be all, but its good you did this Jeff and now the sport, it's fans and the powers at work that run this series can move on.

Thank you for the public apology to your family, team, industry personnel and fans. It is the first step in rebuilding and improving yourself as a man.

I respect you for stepping up and taking responsibility. I forgive you.

His punishment should be to read all 56 pages of the thread dedicated to him.

Ok just to clarify:

--Jeff Alessi deliberately shines a green laser into the eyes of his brother's number one rival going back over a decade. It is Ryan Villopoto who gets the laser in the face and not any one of the other 39 riders on the line. Forget Malcom, that was long before the start of the race.

--He does this at precisely the most critical moment of the race--when the board goes sideways before the gate drops.

--He then blatantly lies about this deliberate act to anyone who will listen, even trying to drag other team members in to support his lies, while throwing his "ex" girlfriend under the bus.

--When Steve Matthes accurately reports the truth about Davey Coombs catching him red-handed, he doubles down on his lies allowing his father and team owner to back him up while he threatens violence to Matthes.

--He then spends several days using social media sites to continue to protest his innocence even after video and photographic proof show his guilt beyond any doubt whatsoever.

--A person whose true identity is unknown writes a perfectly worded press release labeled an "apology" which bears no resemblance to past writings of Jeff Alessi and posts it using Jeff Alessi's user name here on Vital MX. A press release that contains the statement, "I had no intent to harm either rider or affect their results." Right.

And now that 72 hours have passed, mostly filled with continued denials and even more bizarre accusations against the powers that be, we've got 4 pages of everyone falling all over themselves trying to sound more magnanimous then the last guy about how "we've all screwed up" and "it's time to forgive and move on" and "good for you Jeff, now you're a man."

Are you kidding me?
I couldn't have said it better myself!

I wonder how it feels Jeff having a hundred moto guys blowing you all at the same time.

This sport will be better off without you and your crazy father.

What will all of your Instagram buddies think who knew "therez no way that jeff coulda done thiz i no him hes such a kool dude"

This also shows the character that Davey Coombs has. He's a standup guy.

I say hit the bricks.

I agree with most people here saying that, for the Alessi family, this might just be too little too late. Shenanigans have followed the family from day one. And, I agree with most saying this sport would be better off without Tony Alessi. I think that man has done a great disservice to both of his children. The laser was a dumb move that was clearly not thought out, but in my opinion, the way Tony handled himself afterwards and on the PulpMX show was the bigger issue.

With all of that being said - Good on you, Jeff. It takes a big man to own up to and apologize for a mistake. Your father could learn a thing or two from you.

Jeff, I think most people will forgive you but you need to learn from this. Time to grow up and no more F*** ups. Your starting to earn a bad reputation with multiple incidents. If I did something similar I would lose my job and my family would be homeless. Need to learn there are consequences to our actions

your actions are nothing less than assault with intent to harm and/or endanger life

its a court you should be apologising to just before they send your sorry a** to the slammer

hopefully this will be the last we hear or see of both you and your father

good ridance to bad rubbish

After reading through this I am amazed at the amount of total assfucks on Vital. Why don't you unforgiving rednecks get back to kicking your dog and slapping your toothless wife because she spilled moonshine on the lime green shag carpet in your single wide

Hey guys,

I'm here to inform all of you that I am responsible for the incident that happened this weekend at Washougal national. As many of you know a green laser went across Ryan Villopoto and Malcolm Stewart before the start of the first moto. I was the person who did that and I would like to say to those two riders that I am very sorry for causing any distraction to them before the start of the race. I had no intent to harm either rider or affect their results.

I would also like to extend my sincere apologies to Steve Matthes who had to hear the wrath of my father who was defending me with the thought that I was innocent because I told him a story to make him think I wasn't guilty, and also for saying what I said to him during the confrontation.

To my brother, my father, and Mike Genova, words cannot describe the pain and shame I have to live with right now knowing the problems I caused for all of you and the rest of the team. I know how hard you work Mike800, and how you've made your one goal to stay out of drama and just race and try to show the masses that you are a great rider that loves racing.

When I sit here and think about what I did and what it caused I feel like I ruined EVERYTHING you spent the last 5 years building on, and I am so sorry brother because you don't deserve any of this.

To my dad, thanks for standing up for me and showing me you would take that bullet for me. I shouldn't have told you a story when you looked at me and asked what I did. I should've just told you the truth but I couldn't because I was terrified and scared and what came out instead was little and low and you still believed me because that's what you do when your kids say something. I was so dumb.

Mike Genova, what can I say other than you tried getting me back on track here and wanted me to make a difference and I didn't make any difference except cost you a lot of people's respect they had started having for you. You're like my second father, and just like my dad I lied to you too, and you defended me against it all and I'm here to finally give up my story and come clean and tell you I was standing in the grass with a $12 dollar laser acting like a five-year-old, doing childish pranks and it all came down on your team and my brother. I'm really sorry, Mike. I thought I had changed and I made an effort prior to that mistake to do nothing wrong all week and try to help but I stopped thinking and I'm truly sorry.

My last apology I will end with is to the man who did his job and found me when I was doing something wrong, Davey Coombs. I am so sorry I had to put you in that situation that you had to spend important time looking for who was causing the big problem. I know how disappointed you were when you found out I was the one with the device and you had to do what you did, but I also want you to know I never thought you were rough with me, you were just doing your job.

To everyone else, the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, JGR, the Stewart family; MotoConcept team members Vince Freise, James, Dave Dye, Daniel Castloo, Shauna Genova and Sandy Genova; I'm sorry for the outcome of this, it was never my intentions and I will work hard to learn from all of this and return to a professional human that uses his brain before making actions.

To the motorcycle community, I hope this does not reflect who I am because I'm not the person it looks like I am right now and I will try and prove that in the future.

Jeff Alessi
I am really glad to hear this from you Jeff. Your life can change, your only 24. I've seen you grow up at the races. Mosier Valley 2002 I can still see Joey looking for turtles behind our camper and you were right next to him helping. Reach back and think about all the good things in your life. It can be that way again. Good Luck Smile

Blah blah blah
He came, he saw, he shone the laser & then appologised. Big deal. The real action was watching RV's Gopro, how freaking fast is that guy? Sheesh!
