XR400?!?!

Edited Date/Time 7/23/2013 2:59pm
I recently had a chance to ride a 02 honda xr400. And my thoughts after riding it were.. Why doesnt every trail rider have one? Its the quietest bike i've ever ridden, it has a headlight, great plush suspension and the smoothest power dilivery of any other bike. I much more perfer that bike in a harescramble than my 07 yz250 2 stroke. And on another positive side theres hardly any maitnence. Top ends last forever in the xr's. i wanna know who else thinks the same about these bikes?

I had one for years, best trailbike I ever owned. Raced a few Scrambles with it, if you stall it when its hot its over.. But it was reliable as all hell. A tractor, Just point and twist..I used to climb everything with that SOB!!

Most reliable 4 stroke engine Honda ever made annnnddd they discontinued it...Bastards.

Yep, I've had and loved many XRs. My fav was my 02 XR200. Yeah, it was a kind of a dog, but I could go everywhere on that thing, and just about climb anything. Of course, I dont think I can ever part from my 99 YZ125.

I thought I missed the trail days back when I was a kid. I bought one and hated it after about a year. Went back to a CR250F. But I also bought this to tool around on my 10,000 acres. 1987 XR200.

The XR 400 is an awesome bike, but it is heavy and it is tall. The tall part was not so bad as I am 6'4". But it was a pig in the tight woods of NY. I love all my XR 200's. I think in this area, the XR 200 and 250 are better bikes.

I had a 98 and it was a great bike, very durable and easy to take care of for valve adjustments. It was one of
those bikes though that was tough to get street registered because the Certificate of Origin was more restrictive
to street use than comprable KTM models. It was a nice bike and I kind of miss it but I'm liking the EXC 400
with the RFS motor and the electric start.

Great thing about the XR's is that they are air cooled. What these idiotic manufacturers don't realize is that water cooling may be better for performance, but how do they perform when you drop the bike deep in the woods and crack a radiator.

I wish they made XR's again.

I grew up on XRs. Had 80's 100's 200 and 250. All bulletproof. Best play bikes for cruising the back roads and screwing around down at the river where i grew up. Fun times.

My trail bike as well!!! You can actually make that suspension work pretty damn good.....with an oversize Clarke tank it'll go forever.
