1. Make the current promoters walk if they still wanted to run it.
2. Be too much $$$ for a new well qualified, able bodied local promoter to take it over.
Any local permitted track in Florida leases for over 50K per year without a National that "net's" several hundred thousands. Yes nets! I'm not saying it's easy to run the National or that the promoters are not deserving of as much money as possible. I'm just saying that there is way more to this then the raising of the lease amount. Even at 100k it would be a money maker to the right promoter. Pretty much if MX Sports wants it to stay, it would stay! The current promoter's staying or not should have nothing to do with it. What is it, rent control? The land owners are not allowed to raise their rent no matter what?
I know plenty of New Englander's who are more then capable of running the event that would take the 100k deal in a Boston second! So let's at least keep the discussion realistic. Eventually all the real facts will come out. Like Grandma used to say.... "It all comes out in the wash" Unfortunately it will not keep the round at the Wick. Hopefully I'm wrong and this is all just a big misunderstanding by all parties...
I took my six year old son to the race last Saturday. While it was not my first National, it was my first trip to Southwick, and a first, all around, for him. He was incredibly excited to see "the guys we see on TV?!?!", when we surprised him the night before with the tickets. The mere 40 minute ride from our home wasn't even long enough for him to ask for a bathroom or if we were there yet. The sounds of the first 250 A practice coming through the woods brought about instant excitement in both of us as we got out of the car, and I about had my arm pulled off by the boy that was dying to see what was on the other side of those trees. A chance to go into the pits, and right timing, got us right in the Monster Energy Kawasaki autograph line. There Kyle would meet Jake Weimer, and R.V. He understood how great it was to meet, arguably, the best rider in our sport, right now. The impression left on him, however, was with Jake, who took the time to really speak with him, sign his card, and shake his hand. A short time later, he declared his allegiance to Jake Weimer, because "he was really nice, so he's going to be my favorite". The whole day was filled with new experiences for him, that he's still talking about. After our fill of sun, lunch, lemonade, two t-shirts, a toy bike (a Kawi, that he wants #12 on the plates), and a program, we headed back to the car for our short drive back home. He was asleep before Springfield, but not before he asked if we could go every year. I could only answer I hope so, and I really do.
Thank you for a great day, that will be etched in both of our minds forever. My little story may not provide much sway to the decisions made, but we really hope resolutions are possible to continue the great tradition you have, and the one we'd like to get started.

Problem is, there's always 25 guys that know everything, but do nothing.
Everyone has an opinion, but nobody takes responsibility.
And half way thru any project half of them could have gotten a better deal.
It can get very frustrating dealing with them.
Might help if they elected 1 guy to deal with this,
a contact person to scurry back and forth between the real world, and the one they live in.
I'm a member at couple different groups that are similar and this exactly hits the nail on the head.

The people who run or own the property, and the people who rent the property aren't speaking to each other well. So then other parties who are involved decide it's a good idea to discuss it on vital? in the 70's they had CB radios.

Dead on. If I looked hard enough, might even find an old CB radio in the basement...
We do have the right as fans and patrons to voice our opinion and call people out when things don't seem to jive. So I wil ask this question... Why the big rush by the powers that be to get rid of Southwick so quick? It was all over the telivision broadcast that this was the last National at Southwick. All the history played out and the farewell swan song al day long. Is the replacement track already set? Is the 2014 schedule already set? Are the contracts for next year already signed? I checked the MX Sports website and the 2014 LL's qualifying schedule isn't even out yet.
I don't know any of the parties involved personally but clearly by the statements made here the land owners don't want the National to go away. They seem willing to talk and like they stated are still going to run Southwick with or without the National.
Once again if DC doesn't want it fine, that's his decision. If it's better business and better for the bottom line fine. If there are newer better facilities to hold that round and that is the future plan to phase out all the old tracks, fine. Let's just stop the okeedoke and tell it like it is. We're all adults here. At least most. ok some. alright a few. You get the point!

It's not Davey's fault, MX Sports was under contract to hold the national here for I think at least three more years. The only stipulation being that Ralph and Diane had to provide him with a track and facility worthy of a National, which they always have done.
The problem is between the Legion and Ralph and Diane who hold the contract to promote the National. For whatever reason they have not been able to come to an agreement and talks apparently have ended. Thus, the promoter doesn't have a track, and the track doesn't have the contracted promoter.
Davey, while he could possibly find someone else to promote the Southwick National, is choosing to show his good moral character and not stab Ralph and Diane in the back after they have provided him with years of good service.
This situation is dire, and unless the two parties involved can swallow some of their pride there will not be another Southwick National.
