What a joke.

Coombs obviously cares as much about Motocross as Loungo does.

Glad I got to be part of it when it was Motocross and not what ever you want to call this.

I'm sure it'll be better by race day, but that is disappointing.

We had planed on hitting this National and amateur day.
But after watching that I think it would be a waste of our $ and 12 hour drive (one way)...
I do appreciate them putting out the info and saving us the disappointment.

they haven't put the last layers of dirt on it yet come raceday it should look pretty good!

Honestly, i think it's a very cool track/idea. I don't support losing old school tracks like Southwick, but any addition like this that is progressing the sport and audience it brings is a good thing.

I'm lucky enough to live close to a similar (but much smaller!) track that's located at the Evergreen Raceway up here in WA. It's a fun track and makes great use of the infield of the Nascar track. with so many places getting shut down, I hope more promoters take this idea into consideration. More tracks, man-made or not, are most definitely a GOOD thing in my book.

You're wasting your time trying to sensibly convey a logical reason for the dusty track conditions to the vitards.

The one thing we all can count on is change! Change is only bad when you cannot accept it. Change is here to stay.

That said...In the 70's I raced at Gaildorf, other awesome German natural terrain tracks, tracks in Canada...and the North West....I will always prefer natural terrain tracks as they bring out the riders skill not the size of their testis.

However to keep the sport growing (you need a new and diversified audience) the sponsors want more exposure at a cheaper cost. TV rights demand fewer cameras (read costs structure) and the program has time limits. Easier accces and other modern amenities. Most of the NTT are somewhat remote and without modern facilities do to the costs of such development.

The natural progression (unfortunately) is making natural terrain a thing of the past. So quit the grousing and embrace change as it is all around us every day of our lives.

Welcome to the future as it is here.

To me the track does look fun and I certainly wish I was of an age that I could ride it to its limits.

Funny how non-main stream sports are always talking about "growing" usually at the expense of their core values. MX will never be main stream and I'd rather not see it grow than grow like it is. I sure the people that REALLY want it to grow have a vested interest [$$$$$$$$$$$$$$] in the sport want growth at any expense though.

How depressing.....

However.. what about spectating? Isn't that kind of an important aspect?
I agree spectating will probably suck, just like Pala and Elsinore, I went to those two and even though I thought the tracks were pretty cool, I could only see a small section of the track at a time. For spectating at a National I will never go back to those tracks or any track that is basically built on flat ground, like what this new one is.

I think if MX sports wants to grow MX like SX they need to find more outdoor tracks that are in a natural bowl so that you can see more than one section at a time. Before going to Pala and Elsinore, the last time I had been to a outdoor National was Saddleback from 1980 - 82 and it was awesome for spectating being in that little valley, with the stair stepped mountain, in certain spots you could almost see the whole track.

I'm not bitching I'm just saying, to spend the kind of time and money I spent to drive from Phx. and not be able to really see the race, I left both of those races not really knowing who won, I had to watch them on TV to really see the race and to know who finished were.

At the end of the day, the riders make DC $, and if you think he's doing this to "better the series/exposure/blahblahblah" and not make himself more $, then you're nothing but a fool.

I got news for you guys, this sport ain't growing anytime soon. Bikes cost $10K, gas is 4$ a gallon, folks are broke. The housing bubble popped, so no more home equity loans to keep racing. Hell, even WalMart is hurting.

And who is it that always talks about growing the sport anyway? It's the guys that stand to make a buck from it growing, that's who. The only thing they want to grow is their bank accounts.I personally don't give a shit how many people show up at Millville for example,10K, 20K, who cares. The fact is the ones who do show up are the core of the sport. They are the ones making it possible for Davey and the Ryans to make big paychecks. It ain't the beer drinkers sitting home and watching cable TV. They don't buy moto products. And let's be honest, MX is a small ecosystem and the money for the most part comes from within that ecosystem. If it were me, I would keep the core happy. Easier and cheaper to keep a happy customer vs acquiring a new one.

You youngsters and Polly Anna/Charley Brown types can keep on telling yourself you love this excite bike track, but you're only lying to yourselves. This ain't motocross, and Endurocross ain't an Enduro race, it's a fucking sideshow.

Bullseye !

Introducing tracks like this probably won't attract many newcomers - except maybe for the lowlife trailer trash which I would rather not come. It's still us core fans that will support the sport. Only it looks like instead of paying $50 for a ticket you will be paying $100 to get in plus extra for parking (which used to be free at the traditional venues).

I definitely don't want to see MX turn into a 30 race supercross series. Keep it old school. Natural terrain and 2 motos.

Totally agree. It's all about which track can bring in the highest amount of income. It's sad because motocross is a family sport and now families can barely afford to attend these races. It was a vacation for us to go to Freestone every year.

I get that they haven't put down new dirt yet, but you can't at least moisten the dirt up a little bit for a promo video? That wasn't a good way to introduce your track... pretty disappointed in the layout/obstacles. And I didn't even think Elsinore was that bad... definitely not a great track, but not bad for being made on flat ground. I hope it's drastically different on race day.
