I tore it 3.5 weeks ago, and it has only marginally gotten better since the first few days, which has me worried about recovery time/etc. Of course I'm going to listen to my ortho, I just want to complement that advice with some real world moto wisdom, like "it felt fine so I rode 2 weeks early, but I regret it now" etc. Not "surgery is a scam, just rub some patchouli on it".

Everyone has had a meniscus tear; I tore mine hop scotching with the grand kid. Some will heal on their own, mine did - I was lucky --- if you need to have the surgery - 4-6 weeks depending on the extent of the tear, if it has overlapped itself, if they clean up arthritis while they are in there, how good your condition was before the tear - lots of things will determine your recovery time and rate.

Honestly makes sense for most of the moto community. Let’s say they ride 1 day per wk and you flirt with zone 4 and 5 on a ride day. Do 2-4 stretching and lifting days 1 zone 4-5 cardio day 2-3 days after your ride day and 2-3 days before the next ride day. The stretching and lifting is what most of us need. I can’t even get in a good standing attack position comfortably anymore my hips and ankles are all so compromised from office job, commuting, injuries, lzyness, etc.

Slow down bro, I didn’t recommend more classes. There’s plenty of speed crossover in let’s say 45A and then 25b or whatever various groups. Some riders from each of those would be grouped by speed and not by age and other bs Think of it like MX1 MX2 3 4 5 6 MxOLd That’s 7 classes 40 riders each 280 riders capacity each class would need just over an hour for both motos That’s 8hrs of sunlight plus an hour for misc and grooming… that’s a normal day… and 280 riders is a solid turnout any way you slice it...

The sport sadly has gone full inbred. Jumps for literally no reason many times have big consequences instead of being tapered and safe Every lane has to have a jump if not multiple jumps Zero effort to group people on speed (think qualifying or a rank system like tennis) so you get what you saw in your sons group kids being lapped in a 4 lap race which is just absolutely retarded. No track etiquette training for riders flaggers or shit even track owners. Where to get on, where ti get off, what to do with blind spots and accidents...

If we expect our kids -- who, after all, haven't been on this planet that long -- to practice safe riding, even when riding and racing motocross bikes, a large part of it has to come from us. This may be a hot take, and certainly is not aimed at this particular situation, but just what I have noticed. In recent years I have noticed a serious influx in riders riding over their heads. Now, I am looking for input on this from other viewpoints, but in my opinion I blame social media. Look at the trends... It started with photographers back in the day, now we have how many "media" guys at every single race? They solicit the riders, 100 bucks for a 60 second edit for your instagram page. Awesome! I don’t get this place. Vince may rub you all the wrong way but the guy is racing at the highest level, making a living doing what we all love and wish we could do. You can not like him, but show some respect. Wishing he is hurt bad enough to be sent to retirement? Bunch of ass hats in this place anymore.

Good question. I don't know if there are reliable data that could answer that question. But we do know that bikes have gotten (much) more powerful and track obstacles have become higher/longer/faster. That has to be part of the answer.

Really love this sport but this stuff seems to be happening far too frequently lately. I won’t pretend to know the answer but if we don’t figure out a solution it will be figured out for us.
