If she was on a 250F, it would be a non story.Just a New Zealander who beat everyone in Ashley's abscence. But on the 125 it headline stuff and the fact that Ashley isn't there doesn't matter because of how bad she wiped everyone on a 125.

Fact is, the womens class should be at 6 rounds of the outdoor nationals at every other event. The other six rounds should be a 125cc AMA Outdoor National Championship. But there are a couple OEM's who think that's a bad idea....

Speaking of OEM's, has the Big Red Machine protested the win of the mighty little 125 yet? Has the AMA buckled at the knees and rewritten the rules this Monday morning?
I still thinks its a story even if she was on a 250F. This gal is 17 years old and flat out smoked the favorite, JP. What makes the story even more crazy.... she gave up 125cc and two strokes to do it.

Heads up: from Mitch Payton himself: years ago (2003ish) he stated, all the 250F rider had to do was end the 125 riders momentum and the 125 rider would be in trouble. All things being equal. See example: TP199 vs Ernie vs Nate Dawg Vegas SX.

Duncan is on another planet.... she is Bubba via 2004.

I am a two stroke junkie. You guys truly believe a Factory 125T can beat a Factory 250F all things being equal?

Really?????

I built the bike for her the week before the race and it is a 125 with a stock head, porting and a v force reed cage. Crank and piston are OEM stock.

it has to be a 125, ama mens and womens class out doors is 125vs250f those r the rules my friend Ryann Stacy raced her first pro race at southwick last year and they wouldnt let her ride her KTM 150 (which is really a 144), apparently someone is afraid of teenage girls on two strokes, that r larger than 125cc , what do you think fatterson and the factory hondas have done to thier 250f motors

Fontenasi world Champ won her AMA debut at hangtown last year over Follick and Paterson, Courtney is only a small girl and has not long been on a 125 but she did win the NZ 125 nats against the boys before heading to the USA and rode to a 3rd on the 85 against the boys at Laretta, remember she is only small and just turned senior and a 250F is only an age and experience step away. When Fontenasi, Duncan and Rutledge meet it will be a race with so much meaning for all 3 talented young ladies.

Congrats to her and I enjoyed her vieos. She seems like a great kid that can ride the wheels off a bike. I would like to see how far off she was from qualifying times in the mans 250 class. I like the 125 but she will be faster on a good 250F so that makes me wonder how close she would be to the boys.Smile
It would be cool to see her mixing it up with them.

I have to say though,,, Im glad Im not a young hot shot going to Lorettas in schoolboy 1 this year. Its going to be embarrassing for alot of you bucks.Laughing

If you equate "chick" with someone that rides like CD151, then I would be honored to be called a "chick". But it would be BS because she would so blow by me like I am standing still.

i am pretty sure Courtney's dreams have always been bigger than the WMX, and she wants to qualify for a National, she will have to do that on a 250F, hopefully a team or group of people can come up with the money to make it happen,

I believe that she will be able to qualify for a National in the next few years,

I remember reading in a magazine a few years, it was an interview with Josh Coppins, when asked who the next big thing out of NZ was he said Courtney Duncan, looks like he might have been right. Smile

Posted this comparison in the other C. Duncan thread.

A look at Qualifying times and Moto times (fastest lap times and avg. lap times).

Qualifying
#151 - C. Duncan
Fastest qualifying time 2:13.595

With that time, it would have put her in 66th place out of 77 riders and into the LCQ. The 4th place guy in that race (#252 K. Weisbruch) had a fast lap of 2:15.518.

Motos
#151 C. Duncan
Moto 1 - 2:21.532 (avg. for 8 laps - 2:22.855)
Moto 2 - 2:19.832 (avg. for 8 laps - 2:23.729)

Slowest 250 rider moto 1 - #252 K. Weisbruch
Fastest time 2:19.697 (avg. for 15 laps - 2:27.240)

Slowest 250 rider moto 2 - #976 J. Greco
Fastest time 2:25.409 (avg. for 15 laps 2:33.420)

Interesting to note that the WMX motos were run after the 250/450 motos when the track was roughest. Seems like she might have the speed (especially if on a 250f) and that it would take the right set of circumstances for her to qualify thru to a National.

I thought 250 smokers were legal in WMX? Did they rescind that?

Un-freakin-real. "I don't need no stinkin' four-stroke".

Like a solar eclipse or sashquash sighting (the pictures are good, he is just blurry).

About two weeks after they first implemented the rule !!

If we're only talking 2 secs a lap, can we agree that James Stewart has more work to do than Duncan since his 2 secs will be a lot harder to find?

You're talking about a young, 17 year old chick trying to qualify in the top 40 of the fastest 250 class racers on the planet. Just as hard in my opinion. I struggle to find 2 secs a lap, and I'm a B grader !!

Where can I see the full moto? I'd especially like to see moto 2 where she came through the pack then gapped the field.

Smokers makes people more prone to dig the sport. How far does it have to go before those in charge get a grip?

do they?, have the crowds at Supercross got smaller since the early 2000's when four strokes came in? what about the MX?

I know the Vital 2 stroke faithfull love them, but outside this board, and a couple of MX sites has the WMX got any publicity, a small vocal minority do not bring in bigger crowds,

here in NZ, Katherine Prumm got just as much publicity for Winning a moto at Hangtown and busting her wrist in the second moto as Courtney did (on a KX250F), the fact that shes a young girl making her dreams happen, the general public don;t care how many strokes bikes have,

(in saying that I do think a 125 class needs to come back, and wish the Japanese OEM's would put some money into devolpment of new 125 models)

Post a reply to: that chick on the 125 (Courtney Duncan)
