Same here. Picked one and it asked for the provider. If I clicked on the other the commercial played then the stream started. I bought the iPad to HDMi adapter but it would not show on the big screen for some reason. Works on other sites but not the NBC Sports Live feed.

Anyway I know people are all upset and didn't get the feed as expected but in the grand scheme of things it is a small hiccup and not worth getting that worked up about it. Next week will be better.

Thanks to DC for coming into the lions den to explain things and looking for answers to make next week and beyond better.

I've got the adapter but when I hook it upto to the TV I get sound but no picture on the TV. It worked for videos from here on Vital and other sitse but as soon as I connect to the NBC Sports site or Alli Sports the picture goes away and I get only sound. Picture streams fine on the iPad so I don't know what is going on.
That is weird...maybe uninstall the app then re install it? At least you get it to work though!

I can't explain how furious, and then defeated I was as I scambled to remember, call tech support, reset passwords, talk to androids, Indian tech support, live chat,..only to not be able to log into the NBC cable check system to watch moto2.

My friend had an Ipad and he was able to get in without a hitch. Even though I have full spectrum on DISH, could not resolve the password problem....sucks.

Anybody know if there is going to be a rebroadcast on NBC Sports at all?

Thanks for what you have and do do just the same, Davey!

Yeah I'm going to have to fool around with it. Every other site I have tried works and displays on the big screen but NBC Sports Live I still get sound but no video. I'll have to try the iPhone 4 and see if it is the same.

Is there anything can be done for International viewers who don't have the few TV channels that broadcast is internationally? I would gladly pay to see a livestream of the second motos, but at this point it's impossible. I just find it very frustrating that there are a lot of international viewers around the world, but on a select few TV channels make it available for us to watch it. Here in Canada, there is one channel, on a TV network I've never heard of and I cannot even get it in my area.

The reason I say "Fired" is that I listened to the Steve Mathis podcast, and Jason W said they knew of the problem at around 11 (I assume AM) and nobody wanted to tell DC. Said he had a lot of stuff and didn't want to make him mad. So I guess the MX Sports crew knew it was going to be a problem. That is what Jason W said on the podcast.

Maybe I heard it wrong. That is a possibility too. If so, ignore me. If I didn't hear it wrong, it seems DC is covering up for his crew getting it wrong and not knowing this going in. That isn't professional, and I would have even less respect for the MX Sports crew.

You want MX to be bigtime, You need to know this stuff before hand, not winging it as things unfold.

The phone thing? C'mon, It would have sounded better just saying you had technical difficulties. You made things sound so amateurish for you and your crew saying that your phone died and you didn't know.

Again, not professional

I didn't listen,or watch, as I was out at PVR practicing. It didn't impact me in any way.

I am going to go listen to the podcast again on my way to work.

Somebody else care to chime in on this if they heard it also??

Honda907 (Lykens),

I never saw Jason Weigandt on the day of the race, at least not after the morning. He is usually in the TV truck doing the broadcast with Jeff Emig. I am on the infield, helping manage the race and working with our event-production crew. I am not "covering for my crew" for something that I was unaware, and could have done nothing about at that moment anyway.

I know you have little respect for MX Sports, that you think we're "again, not professional," and someone should be fired. I am not firing anyone because I don't control the network or their ability to distribute content online and still have it count as audience (which is the big issue, considering the costs in broadcasting the races in the first place).

All four motos will air live on Fuel and NBC Sports this weekend, and next weekend, and we are trying to expand the online streaming more than what was available this time for approved networks and iPhones and iPads. I now realize it's going to be more difficult than I understood going in to both have a live TV broadcast and live (and free) webcast, but I won't stop trying.

As for my phone dying, there aren't a lot of outlets on the infield at Hangtown, and it's a long day when you start at 5 a.m. and are at the track. My phone died and I could not check my texts or emails, and I did not go the TV compound to ask how it was all going. But it was streaming in the media tent and in the mechanics' area and I assumed wrongly that it was working according to plan. (And the second motos having such a shitty time for this one race is simply beyond our control, but I tried to warn everyone about that, and that's only added to the disappointments here, and understandable.)

I have gotten some pretty nasty emails and some far-reaching insults here and elsewhere, but I accept the responsibility of this streaming concept falling short of what we hoped for. But we will keep trying, and we will probably keep having certain restrictions and some unforeseen obstacles ahead.

Hangtown had a record crowd, it was a first-class event and I really thought it was a successful weekend when the checkered flag fell on the last WMX moto.... And then I got to go charge my phone. We immediately went back to work.

Do you have any fingernails left after Hangtown? Grinning

I can't say that i'm not dissapointed after the communication about how we would be seeing everything from practice to 2nd moto's, to be confronted with the same limitations as last year. I (and i guess allot of other fans) where pumped to get full coverage, so the dissapointment was kinda big. I was pissed of as hell and threw my cell against the wall. Tongue
But i no means i would start throwing around insults on this forum or even trough mail, that's not the proper way to express that disapointment. Fingers crossed now that we get what you promised. Hangtown was a great display of racing, certainly in the 250 class. It would be great to see everything that is happening on the US soil, so im eager to see how next saturday wil turn out.

So get your shit togeather DC, bring us full coverage of the outdoors!Grinning Woohoo

I think you misinterpreted what I was saying, Honda907, that was just a joke from 11 AM, it wasn't like anyone had major panic or knew there was a huge unfixable issue, as far as I knew. There are always issues that come and go throughout the morning of a broadcast, probably not unlike what a team is dealing with during practice sessions. They get the stuff ironed out by the time the races begin, and they usually do. But we did joke that if nothing worked, surely no one would complain, right? We were just kidding.

Like DC, I didn't realize we were having serious issues until after the race.

Keep your head up DC and all those at MX sports....you guys do an awesome job! There aren't too many people that know or have an understanding about what goes into putting on events of this magnitude, all they can do is complain and Monday morning quarterback from the couch if everything doesn't go as planned. This sport has grown leaps and bounds from where it was not too long ago (cycle news grandstand anyone??? on a 28.8, or 56k if you're lucky)...and it's done so in large part and thanks to DC, MX sports and countless others. Everything is a work in progress....so there were a few glitches and hiccups for the opener, you fix it and move on. don't let negative, thankless, disrespectful people get you down...you do what you can inside the confines available to you, and if you mess up you say you messed up and try to fix it...just like you're doing.

Thank you for your efforts. Hangtown was a great show. Those requesting that "someone be fired" are way off base. From everything I've seen, your team is excellent and cares about doing a good job. I tried figuring out the login thing with nbcsports, Near as I can tell use of the service requires a special agreement between the TV provider and nbcsports beyond just broadcasting the channel. Unfortunately, Directv does not have this agreement. Reading between the lines on the Internet, it seems highly probable that the Soccer crew got their collective panties in a wad over this at one point, so, look on the bright side. You only have to deal with the MX fanatics and not millions of upset soccer moms.

Anyway, thanks again. I am looking forward to a great season. Keep smiling.

I have NO idea why you are complaining. Did you pay for a service and the service didn't live up to what was expected? NO it was FREE. Complaining for something that was free. Seriously? We should all be lucky we even get to watch the races live. Motocross is a very small sport and I'm thankful we even get the opportunity for free same day coverage.

No one should be fired at mx sports. Why? Because mx sports didn't host/air/stream the races. NBC/Alli sports did. It was NBC/Alli sports' fault for making it difficult if you weren't able to watch all 4 motos like I did.

You don't have room to complain. Just because You're cable provider sucks and you couldn't watch all 4 motos doesn't have ANYTHING to do with DC. How about you go complain to NBC or ALII? I watched all 4 motos perfectly fine. Let's use our brains a little here. DC has a real life race to take care of. REAL LIFE. Yes, something you may not have heard of.
Here's the deal: Some people were planning their day, yes their real day, around this national. They, too, have a life, and wanted to plan according...
Here's the deal:

Some people were planning their day, yes their real day, around this national. They, too, have a life, and wanted to plan according to DC's announcement that ALL moto's would be streaming live all day. They invited friends over to watch, hangout, party etc.....

When their cable provider wasn't listed, they were screwed. Their party was screwed, their plans were screwed.

Get it?

Yes, some people have a REAL LIFE, and this was part of it!

*this wasn't me, it's just what I have read, and I put it in a nutshell to make a point

original plans screwed, yes! party screwed, no! my glass is half full....

wtf do you do when the interstate is shutdown b/c of an accident?

A. sit and wait for it to be cleared. (in the broadcasts case substitute the word fixed for "cleared" hour, week, two weeks, who knows it's free)

B. find another route to keep moving (in the broadcasts case try something else, live timing, partying, hanging out, etc.)

some of you act as if you are going to go into convulsions or seizures if you don't get your fix of "hard core" moto.
Ummmmmm. Did you read that it wasn't me?

And also a side note, if this had been opening day of football, don't you think people would have been up in arms?

If you don't complain, nothing gets fixed. If you don't complain, nothing moves forward. If you sit back and say that everything is ok, we love you DC, it's all perfect, then we won't get full coverage.

What does DC owe us? He owes us what he promised!

(an accident on an interstate is quite different than this! totally out of one's control. One the other hand, DC CAN control this!)

This post isn't primarily directed at you, but, you raised a few things to address:

1. You have to agree that complaining and personal attacks are completely different.

2. What makes you think that DC can control NBCsports distribution methods?

Davey,
Keep the faith, you have a great series, fantastic crowd turn out and I'm sure the online streaming will get better and the bugs sorted out!

It's so easy for all these keyboard warrior's to sit back and bash you online without having an inkling of all the pressure and things that you have to attend to trackside on raceday.

Who's this guy Mr Info?, seem's to have a big hard on for trying to slam you at every opportunity. The guy's a train wreck heading nowhere!
Congratulations on a great start to the 2013 outdoor nationals, can't wait to catch up with next week's enstalment for Lakewood!

There is a difference between complaining and an all out assault and threats that many jerkoffs on this board did. This just like Football is a live event and some things happen that you don't have control over and can do nothing about until after the fact. What was irritating was the majority of the bitchers were bitching about it before there were any issues...most of it was because of there own ignorance and nobody's fault but their own but they still blamed DC. They bitched about DVR issues, they bitched the streaming of practice on NBCSports before practice, the first moto's before the first moto's ect...ect... And of course when it didn't meet their expectations it was DC's fault, it all went to plan according to the press release up until the second moto's and of course when that didn't happen it was of course all DC's fault....
And of course another football analogy...do you think the people that set their DVR's to record the Superbowl because they had something else they would rather do went apeshit on Roger Goodall when the lights went out and delayed the game past their set time to record and they didn't get to see the end of the game?? They have to blame somebody no way can they take any responsibility....

Still, in business, you need to hash this out so things like this don't happen . Your paying for it, you should have known where you stood on this. But, stuff can still happen, and does with the best planning.

I do wish the best to you guys. Been an advid racer for 37 years, still race today.
I want it to succeed, just hasn't for MX yet. May not, given the amount of choices on TV and our freetime today. Just don't over sell something if you cant deliver. Still, I feel the "phone" was a poor excuse that only added to your problem in explaining what happened.

Jason, I love your input on Mathis show. Please go on tonight. I listen to all the podcasts and love moto more than you know

Good luck from here on out.

Goes without saying, Davey, but screw the haters and keep on trucking. Any Motohead deserving of the label will figure out a way to muddle through without complaint. The rest don't matter.
