Do they prep GH for thursday? If not, its not that fun. Pala used to be my favorite, but I rode it last week and they only worked on the vet track. I dont know if thats just the deal during the week or what. Its def got the best rideing, when all three tracks are prepped. I think Zacha station has the best dirt and a very cool layout. Lots of fun. Its a little way out in nowhere though. Im from Portland and only part time so cal. So im a little spoiled with the dirt and prep.

Haha that's funny living in Portland and being spoiled with with dirt and prep. Guess you like chunked up clay that turns to cement and is like ice when watered. Oh and riding with 4 wheelers if you frequent Albany MX.

I moved to Oregon 3 years ago from New England and quite riding my MX bike because I hated the soil. PIR might be the only exception.

I'd ride GH even if it isn't prepped just to say you rode there. Zaca is near me and is far from LA, awesome layout but still not like the loamy tracks on the east coast.

Unless your fast as balls, stay away from glen helen on thursday... (national pro practice day) there lol. If you do go, go in the AM... do not show up late... that track gets effed up, and incredibly hard to ride..(then again, i suck lol)

Competitive edge is a must! fridays are only 15$ too.. Place is badass... just check the weather to make sure it isn't windy especially this time of year.

Hit up lake elsinore, place is pretty cool now. still turns to ice way later in the day but they do really well with prep

you also may want to hit perris raceway, still the best dirt locally around here.

(I haven't been to pala or starwest so i cant speak for those tracks)

Milestone mx is cool... But they dumbed down their vet track.. and the new main is safe but fun though.

I personally want to go to Cahilla creek. but haven't had a chance to make that two hour drive yet... if you go there let me knw how it was.

Guess you dont know where and when to ride. Ever try mt view on tuesday? Any washougals? Of course its alot better than on national weekend. Albany has sucked the last few years. PiR is only fun if you have to ride on a thursday night. I cant coment on the east coast tracks, I grew up in Texas, live in Portland and work in so cal. So as far as moto goes, summer in Oregon in my opinion is awesome. If you wana get back into it let me know. And I agree, ride GH just to say you did. Unless its a race day then its awesome.

Cahuilla has great soil too. Can get a little dusty but when prepped is real good.

Might be a little bit of a drive but Zaca Station mx in Los Olivos is a great track, open Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Cahuillia creek is a must! The dirt is always good and the track flows really well.

The ranch is another great track. It's about 2-3 miles down the road from cahuillia. The ranch has a Carlsbad replica track which is a blast to ride!

Pala has a variety of tracks. The main track has some pretty good size jumps, nothing crazy and the dirt is perfect.. The vet track has a lot of small jumps but its really fun! The amateur track is IMO the most fun because it has some hills and its a faster track but I like going fast.

And milestone is always fun! Plus they have lights so you can ride at night!

Why don't you guys just list every track in SoCal?

If I were you, I'd hit a different track every day if you can.

Stay away from Lake Elsinore. Their track prep has been pretty shitty as of late.

Depending on you skill level, you can't go wrong with the others mentioned.

Zaca, when prepped is AMAZING. the down side is its 2-3 hours from HB (depending on traffic) but totally worth the drive. Better take someone who knows where it is because you'll never find it otherwise.

Cahuilla is super fun but out there a bit.

Pala you can't go wrong with and they have 3 tracks.

Milestone is kind of a parking lot track but fun. Not sure how a safer track is bad but the main track should keep you busy.

Comp Edge is fun if its not windy.

Starwest is fast.

Haven't been to Perris in awhile so can't really steer you towards or away.

Like I said. Pick 3 or 4 tracks and hit a different one each day.

Enjoy your time in SoCal.

Zaca just added truck loads of sand and revamped the entire track. I would definitely make the drive up here if you can. In my two years of riding there, I've never seen the track in such great condition.

That pic was taken when milestone was fucking badass!!

They had the intermediate track on the top left, you could park by the vet track.. place was soo much fun.

I loathe the new set up, where you cant park by the track your riding on... you have to go through some sketchy metal gate.. with a security wrist band checker.

and the tracks were way better designed then too! ... Idk wtf (who) does the layouts now, but teh vet track sucks along with the beginner track... and even the main track layout is kinda retarded.

Milestone and Comp Edge you can never go wrong unless it's Windy up the hill as others mentioned. Even so, you can still have loads of fun there. Another 10 miles or so past Comp Edge on the 395 is Racetown 395. Another historic moto facility with a very nice main track with some big hits. Prepped on a regular basis also. Was at Comp Edge on Saturday and had a chance to see Travis Preston and Pugmire putting in some fast laps.

Side note: Preston looks so damn smooth and fast. Can't wait to see how he does at the Nats.

I agree, especially if you like softer dirt.

Glen helen has the cool factor to say you rode there, but it has been like a jungle the times i have ridden there with the amount of others on the track.

The ranch sounds good too, hitting that next time.

I'll be at milestone on Friday in the afternoon after the midday main track prep. I'm sure it'll be extremely packed though with everyone getting ready for the mammoth qualifier there this Sunday.
