I didn’t say you would become gay, I said we would be gay. I may be a noob, but at least I have an elementary grasp of the English language..... And I’m the Moron? I am very secure; you my friend are the one that seems to have issues. No matter how you may wish, I wasn’t the guy you kissed and gave you a rash in camp…… let it go

Now you STFU

Hey bvm, this has been fun and all and you proved your elementary grasp of the English language when you capitalized the "e" in English. I'm not sure why you capitalized "Moron" though.

I'm glad to see the military has done nothing to hurt your resolve to fight for barely legal girls' right to have themselves exploited by a magazine editor to further issue sales (or page views in this case).

I see you took the time to read my profile, yes I am an Officer in the US Army what is your point? I said elementary grasp so what did you expect perfection? You hit the nail on the head, it is HER right to pose in any manner she chooses since as you stated she is legal. I didn't see anyone forcing her to pose in those photos, did you? She CHOOSE to pose that way not anyone else, that falls under her freedom of expression. Its people like you trying to force your holier than thou attitudes on others that I feel have weakened this great country. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who I would rather just say "thank you," for your freedom of expression no matter how closed minded it is or was it your wife forcing you to start this thread...... so once again let it go

Dude, if I have you this worked up, wait till one of the other guys gets hold of you.

And really, you missed the point of where I went with my reply, but that's ok.

Again..Katie thought it was comedy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she did. Except not getting a spray tan prior !

Let's all thank Adam for the great shot. I think it expresses the proper sentiment. I just hope to one day be as cool as the "Hoff".

All in good fun man.

With the exception of not getting the spray tan, Katie did nothing wrong. And most of the shots were relatively modest. But one, I felt (in my, I know, relatively conservative view), was really too much and maybe Meada needs to be called out on it. It's not like bikini pics are new on TWMX (or anywhere else for that matter). Let the models pose how they want and get the shots you need to post and print, but let the women racers be known for their racing. I don't want to see the biggest star in the WMA to be some uber hot chick that constantly rides around outside the top 10 (and I am not referring to Katie or any other particular racer with that comment).

For someone who appears to detest the very thought of a photo shoot like this you sure studied the details quite well. Just saying.

Well - This thread is useless without pics and the title is "Woman Riders". This should drop the gay meter a little:[url=http://www.motocross.com/videos/v/20080530/girls_of_motocross_com__behind_the_scenes_with_erin_and_macy-12851.html]That's what I am talking...

I, for one, would love to see a "Women of the WMA" calendar.

Where is the Sarah Whitmore pic with her "star" tattoos? I love the pic, and the tatts. And it made me a fan of her racing efforts. So "exposure" (pun intended)can be a good thing.

Respect? How about racing against the men.

Thats going to piss someone off.

Why is it when some women find the pro men to be attractive it is permissable, but when the aesthetic beauty of women's motocross is pursued further it is frowned upon. Please when I go to the beach I do not come way from there with lowered respect for all women, just the trampy ones.

I wasn't aware the men pose in bathing suits for magazines all that often. If there's a MX magazine where the backside of the poster every month is a hot guy in a Speedo with a bike, please tell me their website so I can get a subscription. Tongue

(The rest of this post isn't really a direct response to the post I quoted, just my thoughts on the rest of the thread.)

Anyone who wants to take their clothes off for a camera is welcome to do so. But given the fact that professional female athletes don't get taken very seriously to begin with, it doesn't seem like posing in swimsuits would improve that situation, and that's the part that bothers me. And given many of the disparaging remarks I've heard about Jessica Patterson's appearance, it's obvious to me that a lot of people give more of a shit about how these girls look than how they ride, and that bothers me a lot too.

However, I would purchase a "Women of the WMA" calendar as long as just as many of the pics were of actual racing, and not JUST bikini poses.

Well you know, I don't race or ride mx. My husband does. I love this sport. I like to read the mx mags. So sex sells magazines. Where are the pics of Andrew Short, Dungey, Stroupe, Villopoto, etc in thier speedo's? I never see pics of the riders in thier skivvies draped over a dirtbike. That would be an interesting take on mx if you saw those pics now wouldn't it? I think you guys would be complaining right about now. LOL!!! LaughingLaughingLaughingWink

What I am saying is that as human beings people are attracted to others. I have seen at countless nationals, local races, as well as off-road nationals where women really enjoy seeing the men get changed before and after the race because men in underwear are everywhere. The Target audience of motocross is male this is why you do not see men in swimsuits, but you see here and there men with riding shorts on without shirt in the moto magazines usually in the beggining of the mags random pics. Since to make it in a sport one has to be marketable it is logical for a person to exploit any asset of interest to a perspective customer/fan. It is a fact that as much as womans motocross garners attention it is still not at the level of the men and posing for bikini shots increases exposure. It may not be the increase you would like to see, but these women are not stupid nor trashy, they are fairly savvy business women and know what sells because if their riding was enough well they would not have to pose. And as far as I can see it is just a bikini a swimsuit, it was not tight enough to show a nipple outline or produce an outline of their genital region. That being said just maybe, you see those women did it not only for marketing, but also because they enjoy to feel beautiful.

I have seen several pictures, of a other Women Pros in Bikinis...Katie, was just secure enough to have the photos published.

Do you remember the picture of Ricky Johnson, on the crapper ?
That simply came off as comedy...sure O'Ger, probably didn't like it, but is was funny.

What about the videos of Pro men at the river, in swim suits...Open your mind, you'll have a different view.
Katie, has been my friend since we met, a little over a year ago, then we became closer over the Matty Dowell, crash.

Katie, is the Queen, of Women's Motocross...If she had Balls, she would be King !

Yeah, where are the guy pictures? That would make it more fair. Vote # 3 for guy pics to go along with the girl pics. Smile Maybe us ladies need to make a mag tailored for women readers. Hmmmm...

If the gals want to pose like that, more power to them. I just don't want them to lose respect as riders. Then again, if more people are drawn to watch them, maybe more people will also realize that several of them can really haul, and more spectator $ could lead to better things for the WMA.

It's called marketing. the keyword here is "Target Market"

testosterone dripping males are the target market for MX magazines = hot girls almost naked Smile

ha, the women who do not understand the word target market / audience really are not making themselves look to good here. Ladies if you want to go see guys trying to act sexy go somewhere where women are the target audience, perhaps MTV, soap operas, emo band shows etc. etc , oh wait most women targeted audiences would rather see men look stupid than sexy hense almost every single sit-com on during prime time chooses to make fun of men rather than celebrate the male body, there it is ladies choice and well they like men to look dumb instead.

Here's the whole thing with that, as Slow Pro confirmed and Swap wrote in the blurb for the shoot, THEY ASKED HER TO BRING THE BIKINI... She didn't say "Hey guys, I'm a cute girl, let me bring a bikini so you can take some shots"... She asked if she could go ride with them and they said "sure, bring your bikini."

Again, Katie was just going along with what the guys asked her to do. If they hadn't asked her to wear the bikini, prior to going riding as it appears, and she was just running around wearing it and they snapped some shots, that would be different. She wanted coverage in TWMX, exposure for herself, the WMA and her sponsors and may have felt pressured (I don't really know and I am probably getting too speculative but I do know women feel pressured and are pressured constantly). Swap should have done that for her without the need for bikini shots.

Please note, this is nothing against Katie. Swap did it to drive his own business with no regard for hers.

Dude, you are a moron. Seriously. Now we all see your real motivation. Bitter much?

Let the models model. Let the ones out there that want and can make it on their looks alone do whatever they want to do. But if you have someone that pours their heart into what they do, day in and day out, training and practicing for moto, let them be known for that, not for being cute in a bikini.

Don't exploit the sport's young stars (and this goes for all sports, not just moto) just to get some extra page views.

Jab - If it had been a condition of the photoshoot, I think I'd be more outraged. Honestly, I just can't comprehend it, but that doesn't make it an invalid choice on her part, just one I personally would not have made. As mxmedic put it, I just don't want them to lose respect as riders, especially when it already seems like folks would rather talk about their looks than their skills.

As for the issue of target audience - I'm well aware of the concept, I studied advertising in college. But I'd be willing to bet there's at least some female readership lost by the magazines and the advertisers due to their extreme emphasis on hot chicks with big tits.

I was happy to see a photo shoot TWMX did with Katie McGuire and then when reading the caption they said something about being surprised she agreed to bring her bikini out...

Come on, really? Ladies out there (all three or four of you), what do you think of this? Isn't it enough to show her pics on the bike? Why did TWMX have to go to the bikini shots? Especially the "stick your ass out, shot from behind" pose? Granted, it was her decision to do the photos, I would have rather seen them focus on her riding.
I took it in this context...Katie, is Hot and she is also faster than most men at local tracks.

I'll oil up my body, and submit some photos...I guess that's what all of you are getting at.
