I had that same 1991 CR125. I HATED That bike. I am sure my lack of skills attributed to some of it, but you could be in first gear and sneeze and that bike would get death headshake.
Now...
btw: take a close look at his bike in the background, notice the pipe and the trick alumi swingarm (i think R&D or CRF) That thing was a rocket! He was hurt one weekend and i got to race it at Huron, holy hell!!
Glad you got a kick out of it. Every time I look at it, I just smile and shake my head. The funniest thing is that at the time, I thought I was the shit.
I ran those goofy bubble visors cuz Ricky Ryan always ran them on his open face Electro helmets. Could the strap on Carrera goggles be any thinner?
Oh and how about the leather gloves w/ those big rubber deals running down the finger, im sure everyone had at pair at one time or another.
that first photo is epic
btw: Slippy, "you've got mail"
Pit Row
....its been a looong Monday
Another track in that area that was fun to go to was "Little Oakie" and their Saturday night races. There were nights that George Holland and Magoo would show up and do some real stylin.
(Edit). Damn it! Meant to quote last post only.
i remember in i think '81 or '82 it was freeezing cold! the puddles in places were frozen over and we couldnt get the forks to work on my bro's KX in the 1st practice sessions for shit! Scott Browns dad stood at a pretty big double w/ his arms crossed, and was really upset if he didnt hit it. Scott wore an all white one piece "rainsuit" that day. He use to show up around here and post once in awhile. His pop had a pretty bad case of "mini-dad'itis". Such a cool kid too.
Its so crazy how we can remember even the little things from this sport that we havent thought of in so many years.
btw: if i can get a hold of my older bro's photo albums there is some pure gold in them. Pretty sure my mom made an album for each goldern state series. He could of been really good, just didnt have the "head" for it, if ya know what i mean.
My mom used to sit up high in the stands right by the announcer (Tom Prichard, good friend of ours, and his son Timmy) and i could hear her yell as i came down the front straight through the speakers LOL
