With the recent post about RC missing at Cheesecake Factory in Indy, we need this image sitting at Cheesecake Factory with a 6 egg omelette! (sorry RC).

My buds were so impressed with my rookie mtb ride, they decided to trick out my new Gary Fisher to match my gnarlyness.

Swap the rear fender, side plates & shrouds for some solid yellow plastic and that bike rocks. Or just find a '89 or '90 model.
My Bro, so proud... I guess the the Oakleys were somewhat "embarrassing"? Oh! and the kick stand, HAR!

God I hope this thread heads for the HoF soon. There's too much awesome here for it not to.

I wish I knew where all of my pictures from the late 70s early 80s were, I'd definitely post them.

I had an ex Suzuki Aus "factory" bike from Ashkenazi down here... Thing was a peaky sumofabitch, think that might have been more their motor work or setup tho... I was 14 and fat and remembered the suspension was hard as fuck too!

Fun bike when I learnt to push it a bit tho...

I had the same Fox boots and denim riding paints in 77. Pretty rare boots in Muskogee OK at that time, still have them packed away somewhere in the attic.

Awesome! That's the spectator jump at Mustang Acres in Brighton, MI

I was most likely there that day racing too as I was riding a 91' CR125 in the schoolboy and B class. Loved that track and was my favorite

Here's me (#39) in the D14 paper at mustang's first turn, not sure if its' the same day as yours

OC I see you had to endure trying to moto on a twin shock POS. Wish I still had the pictures of me trying to race my SL70 in Marysville, it was awful. They got ruined in the flood of 87 I think. Crazy we grew up within 50 miles of each other, wish I would have known you back then.

Prbly 1972 Spillway Park Santa Maria, CA Montesa 125 Cappra. Won Hangtown novice class @ Plymouth and alot of local races. John Moore put me on this to battle with Steve Bargiacchi and his Husky 125 out of Moore and Sons MC...good times!!!!

1993 D-38 Sweetheart Kiss mothers day desert race...this chick started out in a bikini, every lap she would take off a piece of clothing. My dad actually stopped at took a picture with her! lol I think I was like 15 at the time...

2007 Elsinore GP

I decided to race with my pimp hat. It was fun, having a group of drunks calling me "El bandito" every lap was fun.

Watching modern day riders "goon ride" is kind of like watching a civil war reenactment.

They may go through the motions, but it wasn't a way of life, and it isn't real.

Like many of you, my early experience was a penny pinching, geeky looking endeavor.

Even if I had known how silly it all looked. I wouldn't have cared. I was riding, and that was ALL that mattered.

I weep for kids now that never get to experience the satisfaction of making a stock YZ silencer "repackable" with a hacksaw, the top of a PJ1 chain lube can and a few pop rivets.

The only thing I regret about my early days in this sport is that I don't have more pictures and video to document the crazy stuff I saw and did.

My advice to any youngsters that happen upon this thread.

Save every picture, and every second of go pro footage.

Right on JustMX, I had a footbal helmet face guard, cardboard number plate, always turned the knobs around and cut them with a razor blade. I remember when I first discovered Duct Tape, man my prep realy stepped up!
...and just like your profile picture, I learned to wheelie the water truck before I had my driver's license. Glad for the experience.

Remember all the funky backdrops on a roll that they let you choose from? and im sitting on a fake rock LMAO!! "Good Times" Laughing How about the "Full Bore" boots, could they add maybe a few more buckles to them? Blink

I gotta find the one where we have our matching custom made jerseys by Tyson and Tallon Vohland's Grandma, they were epic 70's! Our names ironed on in gold "rainbow tape" style lettering, they were so stylin back then, but looking back...holy hell WTF were we thinking? hahaha

OC, only so much photoshop can do, lmao!!, txs for the effort. Great times as we used to have these north vs south races down there at Santa Maria and we whooped ass more than once. John Preston, Bobby Grossi's mechanic used to film him down there and I remember John having us watch films he shot of Bobby as he would use those big berms as a ramp to a straight away and pass people, unreal riding style....great times!!!!
