Nice build so far! I'm in the process of rebuilding an 09 kx250f. Do you know what the acid stuff was called that you used to clean your frame? Love the garage/shop too! Any chance you could snap some pictures of your work space? I'm looking for ideas. Already have 4 gladiator cabinets that I got for a steal off CL. Thanks, STeve

Why don't you go big and do a stand-alone engine management? Control that powervalve in 1rpm increments and have a bar mounted map switch.

I am.

if you search around and check the dyno charts and see the holes that these stand alone CDI's patch in the powerband, every 02-07 CR owner would have one. no more 4,000 rpm bog, and it adds another 2,500 rpms to the top end.

Was able to pick the motor up yesterday and did a little work in the garage today...it's slowly starting to look more and more like a motorcycle. Not a ton of progress but thought I'd post up a couple pics:

Just thought this was a good pic, notice all the grooves on the shaft that's NOT suppose to be there....and I was told the top and bottom end was fresh haha!


Got the motor into the frame


Got the shock mounted (waiting on some hardware to mount all the linkage up this week)

Re-plated and cleaned cylinder...mounted with Ti hardware of course haha

Ordered a new seat cover from MotoSeat....unbelievable quality and can do practically any color combination or design you can think of. Give them a shot if you are looking for a new cover....VERY well priced too compared to the "big name" companies

And you actually plan on riding this thing in DIRT when you're done? I'd be mortified at the thought of riding it in the mud and getting it dirty...

We should go ride when you get it done, can't wait to hear how it's going to sound!

Damn, this thing is coming along so good. I have my '04 CR prety torn down right now, what are your secrets for getting some of the grime and age away. I'll admit, none of my internal or hard to reach spots are quite as bad as the pics you've put up, but I'd still be pumped to clean some of the little things up while I have it all apart.

A couple small updates. Started looking into the pile of electrical I had laying on the shelf (I really dreaded this job), turns out it's in about as good a shape as the rest of the bike was haha.

The electrical mess...needless to say, some electrical is getting replaced (imagine that)!







Installed all the Ti linkage bolts/nuts, freshened up linkage (new bearings all around and sand blasted), installed rear shock, and the subframe/airbox. This is as it sits now...







A few things on the short-to-do-list is building the wheels (new spokes, rims, bearings, and rim locks), get the entire electrical system sorted out and installed, and figure out my carburetor situation.

Looking good man. Once I finish up this Triumph Bonneville that I'm building with my dad, I'm going to rebuild the top and bottom end on my YZ125. It won't be as flashy as yours, but maybe I'll start a thread for it!

Who made those carbon fiber clutch covers you got? I'm looking around for some.

With all of the badassness on that bike so far. Are you going to do a nice satin finish with the red scotch brite pads on the frame and swingarm. It is an absolute necessity if you ask me. You would be amazed what it will do to an abused aluminum swingarm or frame after a sandblast. Which I see youve already done... Looking awesome man!

I think someone else asked already, but what did you use to get your cylinder so clean? Sand or bead blast?

Honestly, I'm not too sure what the total would be. I have been piecing together the kit (buying maybe 6-10 bolts at a time) over the probably past year or so....little bit less of a hit haha.

Not too sure about the red scotch brite pad honestly. After cleaning them with acid, sand blasting what needed to be sand blasted, then finishing it all off with sand paper/standard green scotch brite pads...I'm pretty happy with how it looks now. Now as far as keeping it looking good for the long run, the red scotch brite patd is probably my best bet...thanks for the heads up!

Dude. MOTO120. This. Bike. Is. Boss. I don't even know what it looks like yet... But. I. Don't. Care. With all of the T.i/carbon fiber on this bike, i can already tell it should be as durable as a tank. Without the weight of course. Thank you 2T. Man, this beast of a machine is getting me more and more geeked. When it comes time. I'm sure you'll absolutely love this bike. With the time, sweat, and moolah put into her. I imagine you will have it for a while. We will need more updates, pictures, and videos. Thanks for keeping us up to date so far. Keep it going buddy. You're an inspiration for dirt bike builders. Nice work man, great attention to detail and looks like a lot of time and money going into this Bike. Hope its a dream to ride. I was starting through money at my RM250 but had to decide wether to spend my free time ether moding it or riding it. Easy choice.....

Keihin Air Striker carb from 2000 and up YZ or Keihin kit from JD jetting or Crab Parts Warehouse. Too many issues with the Mikuni. People have tried and ended up going Keihin.

A couple updates. Things are a bit slow (like they have been all along haha) but it's starting to look like a motorcycle.

Got a couple boxes in the mail. Parts from BTO Sports and a full exhaust system from Scalvini



I had installed the RC valve assembly but unfortunately there was a small "glitch/hickup" in it, for some reason it wasn't operating smoothly. Anyways, I took off the cylinder in order to gain access to it and solved my issue.



Before, notice the line...the change from machined to cast....


After...removed that line and smoothed it all out....now has a butter-like feel Smile !
