After seeing Eli pile drive one, and Bell's wreck, I seem to think they are worth it.

Super impressed w/ how Bell was able to bounce back from that third floor get off. That kid has some serious heart I might add as well. Definitely picked up some new fans from that race.

Is a shame aesthetically the shape and style looks like a budget Shift lid from 1999 hah.

I'm going to assume that you do not believe that Zach was concussed in that wreck...but he sure was laying still for a guy not knocked out. I seriously doubt you'd let him back out to race had he suffered a concussion, right? So, Doc, what was the story on him, if you can do so without violating any HIPPA crappola?

I'd never heard of them until last night. Definitely impressive technology.

So, has anyone on here picked up one yet (pro's included)? I saw the BTO now has them for $745. I would like to hear some opinions from those who have them and have ridden with them.

They surely seem to be better and a significant safety improvement. Also, what's the criteria for replacement? Is it similar to other helmets like Shoei? One hard crash and it's time to replace it? Did the replacement criteria change with this helmet design?

I'm definitely interested in one. But I'd like to learn and hear a little more about them.
Also hope they come out with more colors/styles.
They are expensive, but if they work as advertised I think they're worth it

Might have more to do with function versus flash.

I'm just as impressed with their marketing dept. How in the heck did they know who would be the first riders to take the worst diggers in 2013, or did they pay extra for them to be crash test studs? Completely eliminated the acceptance curve of a new design.

But what if you just have a ten dollar head?

He did not move much, but was well alert enough to know what he did wrong. I am definitely impressed with what I have seen so far.

I'm looking for some un-biased opinions from folks other than those paid to wear them. Would be nice if the Doc would elaborate more. Wink

When Zac got up and was being carted off last night my 8 year old made the comment... "dad, that helmet looks way too big for him". I was thinking the same thing. Obviously it did it's job.

I am a believer in what the 6D helmet is doing. Is it a perfect helmet? No, such a thing does not exist, but it is a step towards a solution to what is happening in the sport. Now that what they have brought to the table is out there, I cant wait to see what is next!

I'm a believer as well. I have my order already in for one. I'm getting it for a youngster I have been helping out a little. Concussions scare me. Apparently they scare a lot of riders, since the first shipment of helmets hit the shores a couple weeks ago, and were already completely commited for. Mine is coming out of the next shipment.

Nice!! That's a good looking helmet.
I didn't see that color on their website. They only have 3 choices on there.
Where is that pic from?

Go to www.6dhelmets.com for higher resolution photos under the product tab.

The looks have grown on me. I run Shoei's now, but just for the fact Zach Bell was able to talk without sounding like a drugged up bum after taking those hits, 6D is on my radar.

Still not a fully 100% believer (I would like to see some independent tests) but after Dallas I'm a 95% believer ...If money was no subject, I would definitely pick a 6D helmet. I hope this is the future in helmet design.
