You seem to know a awful lot about about peds.. The same guys who run the fastest lap time in practice win races unlike you

Cool
People who have children beginning to or participating in the sport. Me as a fan, I would be devastated to find out one of my hero was cheating.
If the powers to be, AMA, FIM, Feld want the sport to grow have more followers and bring in new sponsors now is a prime time to show how demanding the sport is and show the sport doesn't allow cheats involved.
I imagine most athletes would welcome to chance to show they are clean competitors.

I "think"......this sport is like no other.....and therefore it should have it's own rules.

This sport is and can be extremely dangerous and not for the faint of heart. It's hairy for the weekend warrior.....and 10X hairer for the guys who go a lot faster and do it for a living.

If PEDS is something the top riders need to even have a career that's worth a damn....and if they are doing things in a safe manner.....I say more power to them!

I know other sports athletes get injures......but this sport is something a little different and a little special. I think we should make our own rules.......not follow some rules from different sports.

My opinion anyways.
With all due respect, what a lot of bollocks.

Its time for PED's testing to step up its game in AMA. With so many capable race winners this is not the same as the previous decade with mainly 2 dominent riders at any one time that could be scruitinised
Now more than ever we need to be pro-active in prevention rather than a future fallout and major disgraces to fix
AMA and FIM please jump on it now and keep our sport clean or clean up if needed

So being able to ride at peak heart rate for 15 minutes instead of 10 is no advantage? Or the ability to recover faster from injuries? Or what about riding a heat then in an hour's time racing a main event?

I am of the opinion that Peds are not a problem in SX/MX and it has nothing to due with where I live, where I ride, or who my favorite perceived rider is. All I have said is proof to me how PEDS benefit the riders. So the term PEDS means what, give me specifics as too what PEDS the riders are taking. And track and trail, conjecture, do you really have a clue?
PEDs like hgh could have helped Carmichael lose all that baby fat that he was carrying around in his first couple seasons.
A factory support rider told me other guys are using HGH and numerous other PEDs. Especially the ones trained by ex cyclists.

FIM do random testing no one knows beforehand if they will be tested. What does the AMA do?

Anyone who thinks PEDs are not in the sport are crazy.......and anyone that believes they will not help a Pro is also plain nuts.

So your argument is that the fastest guys in practice are the same guys winning the races? That's riveting stuff, please tell me more! I'm unclear on how me not winning sx races is relevant but if you want to insult my results, that's your prerogative. You don't have to believe me on this topic, I don't really care, I was just sharing what I know to be true. You can continue to share your expertise on paddock routine as well. Cheerio.

Husquerdo you are making MN look bad. If you don't think PED's are in our sport you are crazy. And just because you race d23, don't try to act like you can relate to the sports elite. Because you can't and neither can I or anyone else on vital.
I agree with the first sentence. The rest is conjecture.

While we're at it, Dungey supporters who act like A-holes embarrass me too.

We have ex pro cyclists from the 90s training top riders in a sport that doesn't test for EPO use and PEDs aren't being used???

i apologise for the spelling errors taking care of a 3 year old while typing
You might want to consider PEDs to help you keep up with the three year old. PEDs are big with the mommy and me crowd.

I was always a little skeptical about PEDs in MX until I read Tyler Hamilton's book about doping, Armstrong, etc...

There's a section in there where he explains how EPO works, the oxygen in your blood and how you can reach a point where you're totally spent, but you are able to continue at that pace. That's when it put some doubt in my mind as to how some of these guys can run nearly the same times lap after a lap, for 35 minutes and longer.

Testing for PEDs is JUST like making a law to try and snuff out illicit drugs.

The more elaborate the testing or the more stringent the law, the greater the payoff for the transgressors. Just as the drug war in the United States incentivised the cartel game in Mexico, the popular testing regime has incentivised the scientific persuit of covert physical enhancement.

WE need to rethink this approach; it's time to end this senseless charade of trying to figure out what athletes can/cannot put into their body because this shit just is not working.

And another thing; when I hear phrases like: "What are we going to tell our kids" or "what about the kids who see athletes as role models?" -- I almost lose my freaking mind. If you're worried about your child detrimentally emulating a sports star than it's probably a good idea to keep the kid away from sports and even the media in general. PED use is probably the LAST behavior you should worry about your kid picking up from some sports star.

If you're worried about the potential influence some guy on TV has on your kid regarding PEDs I immediately assume you're a weak ass parent.

In my opinion this is the issue: Not every pro wants to put "non-natural" substances in their bodies and risk health complications later. Therefore, guys that are willing to take the risk woud be considered "unfair" competetion. In order to keep the competition equal, you would have to make it all natural.

Again, it woud be great l love it someone reading this forum (who knows their stuff about PED's) could quickly list the names of the new and common PED's (the ones they believe might be getting used by pros), what the purpose of the substance is, and how much of a performace increase they typically provide (based of real testing results - if possible).

Anyone out there qualified to write a list?

Let's air this out a bit!

The banned substance list is too extensive anyways. I don't care if anyone is taking them honestly, this sport ( like football) is a meat grinder with very small opportunity to leave a mark, and make any money. If someone chooses to take something or not I don't really care.

You'd be astonished if you knew how many weekend warrior guys , or even more so, older 40+ guys in the gym lifting weights took stuff.

Time to be provocative! heh heh

Could ignorance be the best policy here?

Why shouldn't an adult pro use illegal substances? Don't say "because they are banned / illegal".

What is the ratio of people who want to ban peds to those who feel one should be left to make his or her own decisions?

Is it immoral to use them? If so, why?

What would nudge a minor toward using peds? If they new for "certain" that a pro was using (as evidenced by a positive test result) would they say "So and so did it and so will I! I KNOW he uses because he was tested and failed! They must work!" If there was no test, there would be no proof, and little Johnny would never know what a top pro might be up to.

Why do we make big deal out of what sports stars "use" to improve their results? Perhaps we should condemn them for drinking alcohol, which (as far as I know) will impede their results. Maybe we should ban and test for alcohol.

Not looking for a fight, just some food for thought.

You don't think that has happened yet? Amatuer riders use and have access to the same trainers the pros do.

I know of one big name mini rider who wasn't growing fast enough to move up and be competitive so his parents hired one of the big trainers and he put him on PEDs. 15 and on PEDs, can you see the problem now? i knwo PEDs exist in this sport, I've been told to my face, and I'm ok with it. A rider who is grown and has the ability to go fast but lacks strength does it, no ok, hell I did, but kids, nope.

any educated adult would be stupid to put a list like that on a open forum where young kids and amateurs come to read up on what the pro's are doing to train. thats just asking and basically telling them what to take and what kind of advantages it carries. not a good idea. IMO

if you really wanna educate yourself on the subject, there are ALOT of informative websites and articles you can read threw and find every 'PED' known to modern science and how they can benifit and or hurt someone as an athlete. also, how it can benifit in the intense and high heart rate world of motorcycle racing.
