so RV is the next RC?

2/5/2013 1:42am
Yes RV was on fire that day,a definate beatdown and ironically made moreso by Cairoli's bike troubles which put him down to 37th and 11th place finishes,AC actually had the 2nd fastest laptimes that day, even faster than RC

Mind you Lommel was the biggest beatdown ever, the caliber of rider going a minute down and even a lap down, pretty mind blowing Blink

I don't think RC, MC, or Everts had the depth of the field that RV is beating right now. I would equate it to the early to mid 80's win there was deep talent on both sides of the pond.

WELL! The one and only time I ever saw Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Villopoto line up at the SAME!! gate was at Budds Creek in 2007 and Villopoto on a 250F SMOKED!!!! Ricky Carmichael on a 450F Smile
Don't really think Carmichael was in his prime anymore. Also some outdoor tracks the 250s go as fast or faster than the 450s. Saw it happen...

RV was awesome that day, but just a year earlier Cairoli smoked Villy in a moto at the MXoN. Just saying.........
As I recall RC got such a bad start that he was like 115th at the first corner. Villo got a perfect start.. So that's the end of that chapter as Max Power would say!

I thought in 2007 RC was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. He never came out and used it as an excuse, but I remember something about an interview the following winter or something that he was riding with CFS during his final races that year. Someone more "in the know" might have better details on that.

Everts, DV or anyone in the industry if the field was deep....

I don't think that he really wants to be the next RC. That's just MHO.

I think RV is only worried about being himself. He has said many times he literally does not care about records. He will retire a millionaire and will almost certainly win several more championships. In the end, there was only one RC.

Yeah, you can already hear him saying racing is not everything..and there is other stuff out there like his hunting etc...I don't remember ever hearing about RC's outside interests as much (maybe he did just don't recall it being like RV)..only remember his drive for getting more championships.
Didn't he say two years and he stops AMA, does a year GPs then retires.
I think most people would overwhelmingly bet against him doing the GPs one day, but I personally believe he will. Possibly within two or three years time (can't remember how long his contract is). It'd be cool to see anyway.

I wouldn't mind riding a bike as good as a 'second-rate' rider like Villopoto. But, I guess since you guys would've beat his ass, you can trash-talk. I can't. Maybe when I get older and drunker....

Why is that wishful thinking? I believe he has all the physical tools to do so. Time will tell if he has the smarts and work ethic to do so.

Again, he could be the next "RC", but that does not mean I believe he will break RC's records. Those records will stand for a long time, if not forever.

Yo man I am a RC fan and not attacking so chill, RC even said the depth of the fields were deeper then when he was there. I am just saying when has there ever been 10 guys in RC's career on the starting line at the same time that has won a national or a sx? That is all I am saying is that there are alot of dudes including ones who have beaten RC that RV is beating as well. Either way it is great racing.

I was both over the weekend, still couldn't qualify. I'd go with MXR's rationalizing.

I don't think there will be another RC or MC as long as the whole field is racing 4 strokes. Its made everyone a great rider. Trying to dominate everyone on a 250 2t for 20 laps indoors or 30 minutes outdoors takes more talent to hit every lap mistake free. Just my .02

x2 , the field was deep back then , just RC was far ahead of them , outdoors anyway , REED , JS7 , raced RC , and in reality they could not touch RC over a season outdoors ,

A bit premature to toss him under the bus, I feel he will deliver much more for many years, but also like some already stated, we really need another RC? Was booring to see him dominate (I felt warm and fuzzy when he smoked them with the smoker though).
