why James Stewart would continue to race being down so many points with an injury that is clearly holding him back. Is it all about the money now? Years ago, he chose not to ride, now all the sudden he wants to ride injured. Im just amazed by some of his decisions.

He could be good enough to race nationals if he had surgery last week or possibly early this week, but if he keeps pushing it back absolutely not. Its going to be a completely wasteful season for him. Im sorry, but if James were just a bit wiser throughout his career he would have passed not only Jeremy but Ricky as well IMO. Im not a Stewart fan particularly, but the guy has skills, if only he had been a little wiser throughout his career.


Been a very interesting career indeed.

Maybe its because he is sick of fans and many other people in the industry claiming he doesnt love racing anymore. If he drops out now then fans will go crazy once again making obnoxious claims on how he is washed up, and could care less about riding. Personally I would like to see him just get the surgery out of the way but at the same time I am glad that he hasn't given up early, even though his chances at a title are very small. Just my opinion though.

I don't think it has anything to do with money. I'm sure he's getting paid no matter what. I'd like to think we are seeing the toughening up of James Stewart. I'm pretty impressed with him gutting it out like he is, even though it's clear he's riding in a lot of pain. The JS of old would have packed it in sooner.

Good on him.

I agree with this. I'm not a Stewy fan but, I'm glad to see him push through in hard times. In the past, he would have just pulled out for the season and gone to race rc cars with Mookie. :-D

He made lot's of bucks, and has big bills. Just like football dudes, when the money stops, you're bankrupt. Maybe his dad covered him with good investments. He needs to retire. Turn his place into a training facility. He could make another fortune. He hasn't been a threat for the championship in a long time,and never will be. Age and injury take their toll. Too hard at that age to come back against the new talent. His day is over at the races, but not at cashing in.

Seriously. What percentage of college grads make the money Stewart does. Maybe 3-5% and that's a stretch. I think he knew young enough to decide on college that he would do ok racing. Making more than most adults as a 10 year old amateur. That was a foolish statement even though I get where you are coming from,

Because all his eggs are in the supercross basket. He's still obviously fast enough to win a race or two.

If he has surgery now, he's not gonna be good enough to start nationals on pace which puts the championship likely out of reach. Winning supercross races > winning nationals. Always will be that way for James.

He seems to have done pretty well for himself up to this point so i agree with JHansen that not going to college was a pretty smart move for him. Also didn't he just set the fastest lap in practice at oakland, I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever ridden on a motocross track knows that kind of feat doesn't happen on accident, you are seriously hauling the mail to get that magical lap number with the talent that is out there trying to do the same thing....JMO

He is the only rider wearing the se7en brand, without Stew, there's very little exposure for the start up company. I hope stewart remains optimistic even though he is out of the title hunt.

Just my 2 cent's.. it has NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY ,,JS has lot's and lot's of money ..He has some # 1 plates and some good years in MX and SX,, It's all about " PRIDE " now .. and he just can't belv he's not the fastest guy in the world anymore,,and wont STOP trying till he get's hurt really bad or something,,I mean if it was me and i was getting sent home night in and night out.. getting slamed to the ground every other race.. Not doing anything good in MX or SX for the last 3 years..I would go do something els and stay safe ... I mean it's ( PRIDE ) or not letting his DAD down IS the ONLY two things it could be now ...

"Im" completely amazed how some of you guys forget this is a professional sport where, if every decision is not based on money, the rider should get his head examined. You want these guys to act like pros, race like pros and make pro-level decisions... then you give them a hard time if they say it's a monetary decision. You want 'em to be saints, glorified amateurs, in it for the fans and the glory.

And then when they DO say they're in it for the fans, you don't believe them. Seriously, what do you want outta these guys? They literally risk their necks each weekend and you want them to say they do it just for your enjoyment? GTFO.

I think it's awesome that he stuck it out and tried to salvage points for awhile. It showed a determination from Stewart we hadn't really seen yet. However, now that he is completely out of the championship hunt, I would rather see him get that knee fixed and get ready for MX. Honestly, no matter what he does, I have a new found respect for the guy. His attitude and outlook on racing have definitely changed since he left Yamaha.
