The only BS thing from Reeds wife is she was dead set no matter what anyone told her that james caused the wreck. She probably more than likely got that from her husband after the race. I bet he feels like a dipshit now considering he was the one who caused the whole thing. Hell Vurb Moto was even claiming last night that stewart slapped him in the helmet after the crash....
All proof that people just want to beat down stewart. The one time biggest dick this sport has ever seen (reed) is all of a sudden an untouchable god because hes been nice to the media and fans for 2.5 seasons now.

I didn't see it but is it possible that Stewart hit reed from behind in the whoops to make him get squirrelly?
It is possible that was what happened as Stewart was right behind Reed in the whoops and he was close. But you can't really see it from the video shot. One would think though that if James' front wheel tapped Reed hard enough to get Reed out of control, that Stewart's front wheel would have got him all out of shape too (after all this was in the whoops section), yet James was fine. Honestly, I think Reed just got a little out of shape, swapped the rear end a little and got his bars tangled up with Grant, then couldn't save it. To me it was the purest of pure racing incidents. After the pack stretched out you could see other riders swapping a little in that whoops section - but since everyone was stretched out, it wasn't a big deal. But when the pack is 4 wide with top riders going 110%, shit happens.

Should be easy to see what happened. They only left the cameras on the scene of the wreck for the whole first lap.

I didn't see a helmet slap, not did I see Reed 'throw' Stewarts Suzuki.

Pretty sure he just lifted if off his own bike and let it fall to the ground.

Some of you need to look at what you post, and try a little harder..

A few make youth hockey parents seem like educated, reasonable people..

It looked like Reed swapped and josh grant hooked him and pushed him up into the berm and all hell broke loose.

I am nobody's side on this one....purely a racing accident. However, at the end if it, Reed pulled Stewarts bike off of his and did not drop it....he pushed it to the ground as hard as possible. That move got a reaction from James like "what the fuck did I do?"

Looked to me like reed got out of sorts in the whoops but was still able to keep going, cutting to the inside and all of a sudden Grant was there to keep the bike straight up and then all he could do was go straight further. You can see he was trying get around Grant's front end to turn as you can see him flip the bike 90 deg while getting t boned by Grant. at that point Stewart is right there to fall on top of Reed also. The only reason this has any legs is because of who was involved, Shit like this happens all the time. BTW, had Grant not been there Reed would have been in great position to battle with RV.

I only saw what Villopoto saw. The lead. Everyone else is fighting for second place. At the end of the season nobody remembers second place. Reed, Stewart and Short should retire. Who won the Superbowl two years ago? Who did they play?Evil Evil Evil

Pop pretty much nailed it with this post I think. I watched it over and over and this is what I see. I'm not sure if Stewart actually hit Reed in the back either.....but James was completely fine on the front wheel when Reed started swapping over to the right and hit Grant. To me.....it looked like Reed made the mistake all on his own , but I'm not sure.

I do find it kind of funny reading some of the slams towards Reed from some of the hard core Stewart fans though. Mainly because the Reed fans have been slamming on the Stewart fans for years because of all the mistakes James has made over the years collecting other riders on the track. THIS time.....I think James is pretty innocent.

Bottom line.....I am bummed they both had a shitty night and let RV run away with it.

I spotted Reed's whiskey throttle before the crash even happened. In the replay, looked like Reed got out of shape, cut to the inside in front of Grant, and Grant stayed on the gas. Reed's bike did the damage, but Grant helped it out. No need for a 30 year old hissy fit though.

Pause just as the CBS logo goes down for the slow mo, hard to tell if Reed goes side ways first or if he goes side ways from the tap from behind.

Can't wait to see the go pro footage from the rider behind him, it will tell the hole story!

Grant cannot be blamed for that at all, he got smashed form the side in the last whoop and had no where to go, I would say he had no control once he got hit.

Luckiest rider regarding that crash, Ryan Dungey! was he last out of the first corner or what, IF that crash does not happen he comes out of the corner 18th or 19th and in a lot of trouble, instead squeezes around the outside and races to 3rd.

Some good luck for the Dunge at last, good to see.

So much is going on in that incident I'm not sure how you pass blame on anyone. I chalk it up as simply being an unfortunate race incident.

there is no such thing as "just a racing incident". this is vital, and someone has to be to blame damnit...

I was pretty much calling Reedy a douche in another thread, but in the Dirt Shark interview CR said he felt somebody slam into him and push him up high...and he was pissed because he thought James had taken him out. That's what the "bike slam" was all about, and why James had the WTF look on. Reed pretty much admitted He & Millsaps touched in the whoops...clipped Grant, and they took out the field. Crap happens!

Guess I stand corrected. Blush

"CR said he felt somebody slam into him and push him up high...". To me, it looked like it was Grant, but it's hard to tell.

Let's see the GoPro!

Agreed. Clearly half the people here have never raced. Bunch of dicks. There used to be some cool people here to bench race with....sadly, 90% of the posts are keyboard heroes calling pro racers idiots or c graders or whatever.

After watching that Stewart interview, my new found respect for him continues to grow. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wouldn't be upset if Stewart won all the remaining races.

It looks to me like Reed gets a little out of shape and goes to his left and clips Stewart's front tire a little bit, sending Reed back to his right and hits Grant. After that, they both fly up the berm into Stewart. Then they proceeded to pretty much take out everyone.

As far as the throwing the bike or helmet slapping goes, Reed just got Stewart's bike off of his. No big deal. I didn't see Stewart slap Reed either, so I'm not sure where that claim is coming from.

It's a racing incident that will happen sometimes when you're in the pack. That's why every rider says the start is so important. 5 of the 7 top guys were involved. Chaos.

Also, Barcia's crash was completely unrelated to the big pile up. Dungey and Barcia locked bars and Barcia slammed into the face of the bowl turn.

Reed may have whiskey'd thru the whoops, but he got hit by someone else in the bowl turn and that is what started the mess.

Was not Reeds fault.

Racing incident pure and simple. The odd thing is they have a whoop section directly out of the first turn with a full field going in. You would think at that level, they would have worked the whoops and taken. That rutted line out and fixed them. If you are on the side your wheel would get pulled into the line an really screw up the pack just like what happened. Very dangerous. Sadly Feld should have made the call to change that. Stew needs to get over Reed. Always pissed at him and stealing gear designs. Anyone else notice this? Chad starts his own team. James buys in to L&M. Sells shares when he is leaving the team. Then decides to make gear. Looks eerily similar to shift. Oh well, James was not at fault for the crash though. Ole boy needs to repair his knee and come back healthy in the summer.
