PARADISE OFFROAD PARK UPDATES

Trails open all week 10am to 5pm $20.00 to ride. Prepped Mx and Pee-Wee track open Wednesday 01-23 and Thursday 01-24 10am - 5pm and Saturday 01-26 and Sunday 01-27 10am - 5pm. Gate start practices on Sunday. All riders $20.00 and no Spectator fee.

I would never ride at a track that has a spectator fee on a practice day.

How do you even justify that? Are they using up your parking lot by spectating?

Probably to cover litigation costs when someone is run over in the pits or beside the track.....

Then enjoy losing tracks. Up here in WA tracks charge 30 to ride anyways, and there are even tracks that charge spectator fees on top of that. Tracks have to make money dude or they go away. Its really that simple.

I just spent 5 days in North Florida and rode for $20 or $25 a day, free to camp out at the tracks.

There are a lot of tracks on the FL/GA border. If I owned one I'd try to entice riders rather than make them pay more. They might come once and pay the extra $5 but will probably not come back and tell their friends to not go either.

Exactly-5 bucks is nothing more than grande latte at Starbucks for God's sake. Be thankful you have a nice prepped track to go out and ride.

Jeezus. Cheap bastards. Take up skiing and dump easily $75 on a ticket PER DAY. Or, any of you guys golf? I'm sure those daily fees are inexpensive.

$75 for an icy day at Killington is why I quit snowboarding =)

If you have a wife and 2 kids, $25 to ride for the day turns into $40.

Paradise is a nice mx park. Rode there during Christmas break during our trip down to Atlanta. We all want nice places to ride and it cost money. We ride 10 or so tracks on a regular basis and I don't see any of the owners getting rich. Anyone who gets upset over an additional 5 or so dollars for the track fee is already overcommitted and will be in much worse financial shape if they have a accident and need a trip to the ER.

A few tracks that have been sued by spectators getting hurt started charging $20 per person riding or not. Some of these tracks never even come close to breaking even and its even harder to stay open when dealing with court and lawyer fees. Then the insurance rates go up. We are lucky some do it for the love and not the money our more places would be closed.

Just set a price and stick with it, People will always gripe about price no matter what you do. I have the cheapest entry fee and gate fee in the state and people still gripe about the rider paying a $5 gate fee. Not only do they pay it at every other track around, most charge more!

I've explained to several riders that yes I could not charge a gate fee and increase their entry fee but all that does is create problems at the gate. Suddenly every one who comes through the gate claims to be a racer!

I'm not talking about a $5 rider fee but a $5 spectator fee. I disagree that people will always gripe about price(although I do agree SOME people will gripe about anything.) People gripe about a spectator fee because it doesn't make sense at practice. Would you pay to watch bowling practice or basketball practice at a facility with overhead too?

Track prep time is proportional to the number of riders through the gate. If no one rides there is not much track work to be done.

There is a usual viscous cycle with a track going bankrupt.

1 - People are turned off from your track for whatever reason and dont get out their wallet and say thank you. (perhaps an extra $5 per person who isnt riding on practice day keeps them away, maybe the track isnt well taken care of)

2 - Track operator doesnt see income, doesnt put money into the track by not grooming and taking care of it. Wonders why no one shows up.

3 - Back to step 1. Just word gets out, track XYZ has been shitty for the past year or two.

Ive seen it with a lot of tracks and didnt go to Waldo MX in Florida last week because I was told the track was going downhill by a few people.



As far as the $5, there is no legit reason to charge a spectator fee on practice day. Other than to double charge the guy who wants to bring a friend or family to the track.


I wonder how many non-paying spectators turn into riders paying $25/30 to ride after a while?

you guys have it so good over in the states last track i went to here in the uk it was about $55 to ride.and with petrol costing $2.06 a litre can be an expensive day once you have fueled the van and bike

Then they miss out on the extra $5 or $10 or $15 of profit when someone comes to the track with the family for the day.

I saw it last Saturday. A group of 5 adults with 5 or 6 kids, 3 bikes between them all. Setup EZUP and grill. The kids played, the 2 moms made food and lounged in the sun while 3 dudes rode.

At $5 extra per person it would have been $110 to enter instead of $75. You think they would have gone to this track if there was a $5 spectator fee?

A $5 spectator fee takes the family part out of what labels itself as a family sport.

Factor in the exchange rate between the pound and the dollar and you paid 35 pounds to ride. That sounds reasonable in a country with such a high standard of living and tax rate.

When it comes to fuel, America is as spoiled as it gets.

Hey douchbag I did say take any thing away .. I belong to a club we hold 2 practice, 3 mx races a harescambles and a hill cllimb a yr charge 35.00 a year to be a member (get a key to the gate to ride anytime ).cost $10 to practie on the prep practice days on race days its 5.00 to get in and 10 a class. After the bills or paid we still have $$ to spend to buy tractors and equipment ..And we lease the groud Ambulance on site for all events including practice days

To your math about the family coming .. My wife and and family just stay home and I just bring our kids.as I'm sure many other do so using your math .Me and 2 kids 55.00 so the track lost 5 dollars . My wife or anyone hardly ever goe's to practice days anyway so does'nt ever effect me it actualy cost me more my way but people don't bitch as much .
My way me + 2 kids = 60
So are you worrried about the extra 5

This is another way of looking at it ..Most people get upset about paying a Spectator on practice day and not the amount it cost to practice .. So if you have 10 people that say screw it we won't go . you'll need 50 spectators to show up to replace your rider you lost.

I would never pay a spectator fee. I don't want a track owner making money off of me and being able to continue operating a track and putting themselves at risk every time someone goes on that track. And by god it better be plowed deeper and prepped better than anywhere else this side of the Mississippi if they want my money. Greedy track owning moto loving sons of bitches trying to charge me $5 extra I'll take my ass to the power lines.
