It is Kehoe, and I knew he was one of the riders in the picture. I just put a quick description, but you guys are right, this is more a pic of Kehoe than McGrath.
Its Kehoe.

These are all great pics. I remember one in particular. It is of Gerrit Wolsink winning the Carlsbad GP in 1973. He is smashing the berm in a close finish. I believe it was in Dirt Bike. I've tried to find the photo but haven't had any luck. Anyone else remember this one?

This thread isn't complete until someone posts the picture of Marty Tripes shooting the peace sign while hauling ass.

LaPorte is pretty easy to find especially if you live in Orange county ..... Just cruise down to fmf (freddy mac factory) and you'll find him...... Bob "Hurricane" Hannah might be a little more difficult. Personally I'd really like to get an autograph from Bradshaw on one of his classic posters, he's still one bad mofo

There are some sweet photos in this thread. I can't say I have a favourite of all time - there are simply too many great pictures out there. It is also wrong to compare photos from different era's, IMO.

That said, I have always thought this one was cool:

This is a good one in so many ways. The rider, the place, the moment, the background, the foreground, the lighting. A lot of quality stuff going on in this photograph.

Old pieces of crap? Hah! Find me another bike that looks this good. This thing doesn't even need a rider to be considered in the greatest pics of all time. 63 horsepower ready to roost.

I appreciate that for what it is, but you are just showing your age by saying that bike is better looking than current bikes. They're cool for what they are, don't get me wrong, and there's plenty of good looking vintage bikes that look better than some bikes of recent decades. But if you're comparing a clean, fresh, trick bike from 2013 and 1983, 2013 will always win. That bike in the picture is butt ugly, in my opinion, just neat to look at because of what it is.

I know, it was just so hard not to call him out for being such a little twerp! Nothing wrong with having some aspiration in life; in fact, it's a good thing. But Davis was something else!

Do you even know what it is? No modern 4 stroke would be worthy of licking the sweat off the balls of that beast.

I'm gonna guess a 1980 CR480, probably not exactly right, but I reckon I'm in the ballpark. To each their own, but I disagree with you. I see Reedy's CRF450 and am damn near flabbergasted at the style and technological prowess of that bike. The bike in your picture is just a cool antique to me. The biggest problem with a lotta bikes today is just shitty graphics and/or color schemes, in my eyes. The last real ugly bike I can think of where the '98-'05 Yamaha 4-strokes.

Correct me then, oh mighty motocross God. Does it even matter what it is? It's old and completely out of style. The fat ugly seat, the stupid number plate and the old english lettering style. Those conventional forks sure look trick. And if my guess isn't within 5 years and an open class bike, then you are way over exaggerating how wrong I am.

No need to get pissy.Tongue That's a full works 78 RC500 GP bike. It cost more in 1978 that anything Chad Reed has ridden not even factoring in inflation. Reed's bike looks like a dolled up production bike, which it is. The RC was pure fantasy hand built unobtanium works exotica. It still is. I'd trade more than a couple 2013 Dungey Replica's , maybe more than a few for that sexy red head. Funny thing is that they couldn't fetch 20G's for that Reed bike on Ebay a few month's back. About the only bikes I get excited over in the pits these days would be the Pro Circuit 250F's.

So I wasn't that far off then! I was close on the year, and the only thing I really got wrong was the RC vs. CR, U.S. vs GP, thing. So take back all that zip code nonsense lol

What was so unobtainium about it? I wasn't even born then, so I'm not an expert on old bikes. But I don't see anything in the picture that is clearly unobtanium for the era. I'm genuinely interested, btw.

Edit: air air shock and aluminum swingarm, maybe?

This pick of the Kehoe sky shot had either MC , Lamson or Cooper behind him.......and I can't remember which. I "think" it was MC.....but could be totally wrong. Bad ass pic either way.

..and the run up to that jump was insane, huge blind jump and Josh made it look so easy with style.
