I love it so far. Haven't worn it enough to compare and have not tried the brand new Shoei....light comfy built solid. I like it better than the FOX or TLD lids.

I got one this year after wearing Arai's for years, I actually like it a lot. It feels a lot better than some of the older Bells I have tried on, I also really like the ventilation. It also has cheek pads that are held in by magnets and can be taken out easily if you ever have a bad crash.

All in all a great helmet, I don't think you can go wrong getting one.

The magnet thing is brilliant.

The Bell Moto 9 is honestly the BEST helmet I've worn. I also have a Shoei VFX-W (so that's saying something), and I think the Bell Moto 9 beats it in comfort and ventilation. I love the look of the helmet too, I definitely recommend it.

Love it! I have worn all brands, but like the Bell better in all categories. Airoh a close second.

Right now we are wearing the FLY Carbon F2, FLY Formula MX Clash and the Moto-9. Like all of them!

Have you taken any spills with the Shoei? If so, how did it perform. I am in the market for the best helmet available as my son is recovering from a grade 2 concussion. Will not be riding with an Oneal helmet again.

That's quite a statement . I haven't tried on the 9 but the 8 just wasn't a good fit for my head. The old(very) Bells all had great padding and were "The" helmet. Good to see them back at it.
Is your pop doing any of the designs off the shelf ?

Bell helmets were always my favorite.

I've been wearing one for a few months now and I really love it. The fit, design, and quality is top notch and I love the innovation. Not only are the magnetic cheek pads easy to remove and install, they're made to pull out while the helmet is on to make the helmet easier to remove if a neck injury is suspected.

I haven't taken any spills in the Shoei where I hit my head, so I can't give you any insight on that. But it is definitely much better than an O'Neal by all means...

To me, the 9 fits different than the 8. Also, the chin bar doesn't almost touch your nose like the 8 did. Yes, Tagger Designs designed the BELL/UNIT replica that they just released, you will see it at many dealers.

Moto 9s are cool, but you can get a new Moto 8 for $299 vs. Moto 9 for $475. Just sayin'

How is the sizing for the moto 9? I wear a small in arai and airoh. I tried one on when they first came out and I cant remember if the Bell fit on the small size.
11/20/2012 11:58am
how does sizing compare to Moto 8?

Shoei and Arai are in their own category as far as safety and quality goes. Would you buy a motorcycle that was China made? Then why even consider a helmet manufactured by them.

I have a few different friends who have knocked themselves out in a moto9 as well.
Might be coincidence.
But im pretty sure they are just not a good helmet.

Pretty sure Bell helmets are designed and made in the USA

after spending the past 11-12 years at MX tracks nearly every weekend, I have seen people concussed in nearly every brand of helmet, If a rider lands on their head or hits their head and gets away with just a concussion, I would say the helmet has done its job!

I agree.
However these riders had never knocked themselves out on the reg till they wore the bell..
It might not have fitted their heads right or may have just been chance.
If you have the $ buy a shoei or an arai I reckon.

I would disagree, you buy a high end helment to help prevent concussion. you buy a hjc or any other low end helment so that you only get a consussion. A good helment sacrfices it self for the rider. Thats why a good helment is desinged to takes one good head impact. But i would agree no helment will prevent everything. its to help limit it.

Shoei Shoei Shoei! Ive used Them for the past 3 years and bashed my head in 6 ways from sunday, never had a concussion with one. My Scorpion on the other hand, left me riding around like a tool trying to remember where my pit was! From what I hear Bell isnt the best when it comes to preventing TBI's. I also found the liner had a lot of pressure points. Honestly I am biased when I say this because I love my Shoeis but The honest truth is they are a better lid!

I have a moto 9 and love it. Had a Shoei but just didn't fit my head right. Gave it to my son and he loves it.
As far as the fit, I've always worn a medium and the Bell is no different for me. Pretty true to size.

If you want to know about Moto 9 sizing, go to your local dealer and try one on. Trying to describe sizing is like trying to explain the sound a bike is making via text.

Braaaap. Shits easy give it a try. If my local dealer carried anything besides a XL I would.
It's actually a pretty easy answer. Yes they fit on the small side, there pretty standard or try fit a little bigger than the helmets you were comparing them too.

We have two Moto-9's (below) and they both ran a bit small but you can get different thickness cheekpads and we just swapped ours out for some thinner ones and viola, perfect fit.

We love them, no concussions here yet. LOL

Highly recommended.
