After missing the entire 2012 outdoor series, It pains us here at PMT to relay that sources have confirmed that Monster Pro Circuit's Darryn Durham has torn his achilles after only a few times on the bike since recovering from surgery on his shoulder. We're waiting to hear on details of the injury but a torn achilles, as you would assume, is no quick recovery. As such, at the moment we will just hope for the best and although it's doubtful, we hope to see Darryn make his return to the East coast SX2 series.

More to come as we find out more...

ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is in the knee. Achilles tendon is just above your heel. Given recovery times for knee injuries these days (RV), not sure which is worse or would take longer, but 8 weeks is pretty common to be in a cast/boot after surgery

That's a pretty gnarly injury. I would say no SX at least.

According to WebMD.com, it can take between six to twelve months before the Achilles tendon is completely healed.

Man that sucks big time. He works his ass off as a privateer to earn arguably the best Lites/250F ride there is and once he gets it he can't get away from injury! I feel for the guy and hope the recovery time is minimal so he can still have a chance at racing Supercross.

Every time i look up an a pain or injury on WebMD or google it always leads back to cancer.

Arm hurt/? Cancer

Pain in your back? Cancer

Headache? Cancer

Shin splints? Cancer

Cyst in your wrist? Cancer

Terrified me when i was like 13 lol.

Took me 6 months to be released to full activity. Snapped mine in half coming up short on a jump. It was 9-10 months before i could walk normal.

I was just stating that he has 2 months alone in a boot or cast after surgery.

Partial tears that don't require surgery can be as little as 8 weeks. If he snapped it that's bad news.

I hear ya. I think it depends on how severe it is too. He's lucky I'm not his doctor. I'd be checking WebMD right in front of him before I amputate the leg.Woohoo

My buddy severed his and had a cast with the foot pointing up for 4 weeks, then down for 4 weeks.. I wanna say his rehab wasnt that bad but wasnt released for anything high impact for quite some time.

That must be heart breaking. Sad

Weird how some guys manage to avoid injuries for prolonged periods of their careers, while others seem to just go from one injury to the next.

it all depends on how bad it is, some when they snap the achilies actualy rolls up into your calf. when i tore mine it didnt roll up but still needed surgery and right off the bat i was in a hard cast for about 6 weeks and then a boot for maybe another 6. i think i started riding at the 4 month mark. it doesnt hurt as bad as you would thin, its not like its getting sliced by a knife like you see in the movies, ive also done my acl and id say that is worse when it comes to recovery because of all the rehab. the achilies is more of a waiting came, but mentaly coming back took a lot longer to trust my achilies. so thats my insight and story

When I tore mine it rolled up and was about 75% threw. The Hospital I went to did not do anything with it and now 5 years later it still bothers me, I also tore the calf muscle alond with it.

I feel bad for anyone that this happens to.......it sucks
