Have owned this bike since new in '76. Don't know how it managed to stick around, as many , many motorcycles have come and gone since then. It has been in boxes since '92.
In the last 6 months, this is what I have ended up with. Just need to mount the silencer.

I have both charge coils for the stator NOS, a spare cdi unit off a running bike also, just in case of no fire.
Will throw some gas to it friday, and see what happens.

I don't remember seeing too many of those back when they were new .
Other than that, runs good. Peaky little bugger. Had forgotten just how zappy the old 125 was.

It almost brought a tear to my eye to ride it after all these years.
Dennis, this bike had clay still embedded in it from Golen Eagles on certain parts. Hated to clean it off in a way.
Big thanks to my good friend Dan Ward of Bay City Cycles for wheel lacing, boring, crank rebuild, and engine assembly.
If you are in central Florida, Dan is one of the good guys. Has been racing and repairing bikes since the late 60's.
I would love to find a 76 today.
Project Racers is only one of two I have seen that is still from the original owner. These bikes are now extremely rare in the Yamaha world. I was lucky to find mine all in one piece. If you look closely at the bikes you can see the differences. They are minor......... but they are cool bikes.
The 76 was basically a YZ without the monoshock. The earlier MX series was in no way competitive with these models.
I know of one person who has five MX125C models, along with some spare used parts here in the states. One other fairly complete bike also in Kentucky.
About a year ago, there was a really nice one on Mark's page with a blown engine. A junker on Ebay about a month ago.
They are out there , but not in numbers. Trying to find some of the parts unique to this model is the hard part.
The airbox , airboot, and splash guards are pretty much extinct. My bike has a cut aftermarket rear fender. I do have an NOS unit, but needs to be polished up, as it has some scratches. This fender is near impossible to find. Only contact with a good friend allowed me to get ahold of this fender, who had it for years in his collection.
The dished rear sprockets are another hard to find item. That is one thing I am still looking for, as all I could find was an after market PBI sprocket.
Yamaha still shows many parts available, but when they start the superceding process, the new stuff sometimes just does not fit quite right, although it will work.
I am on to my next project, which is straightening out my 1970 Indian 50 Boy Racer, that I have had since new in '70.
This is not a picture of my bike, but mine is identical (was). ANY parts for this bike , name your price.

I am happy with the old Yamaha. It's like a used car, though. If you look real close at it, there are some things that are just going to have to be the way they are going to be. I really would like to take it out and pound a few laps on it, but just can not bring myself to do it.
Not sure which is more brittle, the bikes frame or mine.
