I've never had any problems getting run over by the cops on my motorcycles and I have been riding for 37 years. I either stay on a closed course (dirtbike) or pull over and follow directions they give me (street bike).......................Not ONCE have I ever been rear ended by the poilice.

Here are the extremes, the guy was breaking the law, probably endangering others. A person could probably kill this guy and claim self-defense. Or, you could stick a shot-gun in his face and tell him to knock it off, you might not ever see him do that again.
So, to the extremes of what actually happened.
Cop trying to get this guy for awhile, sees him, says, "f-him", and kills him, feeling fine about it.
Or, cop accidentally hits him, kills him, and now will live with killing when not wanting or trying to for the rest of his life.
Either way, no matter how bad his riding was, a death is too far.
Maybe if he was about to kill some-one himself, I could see taking him out.
I've seen 'pit-riders' at a track that deserve to get their ass kicked, even though they are 'at a track', but not killed!
Not knowing the details, sounds like justice would have been to go to his house, arrest him, put him in jail, and give his bike to a deserving kid. Too bad the gov. is so red-taped and cluster-f'd to do the right thing all the time.

his choice, his consequenses.

I personally think death is too final of a punishment however.....

These wheelie boyz are nothing but a bunch of criminals and thugs that terrorize their community. Maybe he didn't deserve to die, but he chose his own fate.

Classy thread.

He may have not been making a smart decision, but that kid was somebody's friend and somebody's child.

Classy? Oh yea.....spot on, imo.

We'll look for you to opine when one of these fuckwads hits a kid on the sidewalk, or crossing the street minding his own business.

yeah someones child eh? well obviously the parents raised them right and cared a lot. you can tell by the smart choices made.

these kids are thieves and thugs. they taunt the cops because the police are hand tied on what they can do about it. I don't feel sorry for people like this. they make their bed, they can sleep in it.

He was not a KID,and neither are the guys in the the wildout wheelie boyz vids. Most are adults and some late teeners.
And either are or act like Thugs.

i love how they ran to the "quality of life" prase! they pulled that same stuff in my home town about street bike noise levels...if the PD puts the "quality of life" badge on it, it will make everything ok for what they are doing...

Why do you say kinda harsh on him? Those exact people the cops are talking about in the article are out of control. Riding on sidewalks and weaving in and out of people. Only time until an innocent little kid gets hit and killed. Imagine if it was your 4 or 5 year old child holding your hand and asshole comes along and kills him. Got what they deserved. Don't ride on streets or sidewalks, don't ride without helmet, don't run from the police and everything would be just fine. I personally would add don't steal dirt bikes from people who have worked their ass off to pay for them too but that's not a fact in the stroy, just in my mind.

How can some of you stick up for this guy? No, the action wasn't punishable by death, but he started it, and had he not been acting like a total retard, giving all of us a bad name, it would have never happened.

All I care about is if the original owner got his bike back.

x 2. Is harsh, no doubt, but typical petty criminal bullshit to play the victim when it goes tits up. Like the Police guy said: “A kid spills, kills himself — we get blamed for it.”

This is what happens when communitys/ tree huggers close our tracks. I think he was the Bronx open adultclass champ for 2 years? Steppin up to 30+ 125 2-stroke class next year. I also heard the cops where jumping the startgate. Not cool.

28 is not a kid, and having a friend and a mother doesn't give you the right to endanger other people's lives. Hope the guy he stole the bike from gets it back...

I really have no sympathy for this guy. This is what you get for recklessly riding a dirt bike on city streets endangering other people on a most likely stolen bike with no helmet on.

This is one of those social issues that really seems to reflect what we have become as a society.

Everybody has their points to make and feelings on it, but my own personal feelings are that this is exactly what is going to happen when police departments (and in reality- our fantastic legal system) decides that "public safety" is a greater priority then establishing a set of laws and actually enforcing them.

Just like everyone who has had a bike stolen (like me) who have sounded off recently in these "wheely-boy posts", there is nothing like watching tax-paid law enforcement officers sit on the hood of a patrol car and just watch stolen bikes being wheelied recklessly (and very illegally) down the street.

Probably an immature thing to say and not really intelligent, but my feeling about this issue is "why can't I do that???".

I got pulled over for doing 43 in a 35 six months ago and had to take a half day off work to go to court so I could keep a good driving record for my job.
I'm lucky to have a dirt bike, but its several years old, needs about everything done to it and I won't have a new one anytime soon. I worked to buy that one, and a set of braces on my kid's teeth this year will limit my ability for buying the latest and greatest this year or next.
Should I complain that it is also hard to take a weekend to go riding?? Why can't I just ride out my garage and go tear-ass around the local roads for a few hours a week instead??

I realize its a complicated issue, and I'm sure I can be criticized on my view just as well.

I say either enforce it and make everyone accounable to the same set of rules.

If you arent going to do that, then sitautions like this are unavoidable from time to time.

At least we can hope that one kid sees how this ended, and decides to pick another path.

So, you are willing to kill a person, and be fine with it. But hoodrats riding dirtbikes on the street is not okay. Some fucked up priorities in this thread and tons of speculation. Vital at its finest.
