I think it was other way around. Pourcel said that about Paulin.

You really think thats gonna happen? You watch the vids of him racing and practicing at these tracks? Dude is on it, he crushes the field by like a minute and a half! That's not to say he can't be beat but no one is gonna hand him his ass. He's a special rider in sand. The Ryan's will wipe the floor with him on any other track surface anyways so he can be a one trick pony, it's cool lol

Apart from Saint Jean d'Angely of course... Smile
You mean the Saint Jean D'Angely race where Villopoto beat him by 26+sec and won the class and Dungey beat him by 24+sec's? Is that the race you are referring to?

Nope, the quote is by paulin on the cover of Moto Magazine.

Pourcel has stated before that he doesn't like Paulin however lol At least Musquin will be there to keep the peace lol

I'm just stirring shit like my buddy Machine was, Jamma. I've actually starting to pay attention to the GP's allot more, tons of talent in the MX1 class. I never thought i would say it but I'm becoming a fan of AC's, JH too. I havent heard it brought up much, probably because it doesnt pertain to the AMA, but Tony seems like he's got a good shot of breaking Everts record of 10 titles. He's already at 6 correct?

I think he has six if he wins this year. That will equal Joel Robert's record and put him joint second in GP titles. The only man in front of him then will be Everts.

Four more years of winning that MX1 class will be tough though, as will staying injury free.

What he has done is an incredible achievement to come from of scilily and move to a new country, learn english, being so good in the sand, and dominate GP motocross.

Someone made a statement, I countered it with one example where his statement was debatable & left a smiley to suggest it was kind of tongue in cheek, or at least in good humour. You then picked it up again... we could carry on picking it apart for days but that would only start another stupid USA vs the World argument and so far and we've managed to avoid it.

Herlings bike sounds like it has a Turbo damm what is that whistling sound?
Haha, yeah i'm wondering how high it rev's. the stock sxf2013 revs till 14000. Guessing Herlings bike does 14,5-15k? I have the feeling Herlings bike is much faster then Roczen or Musquin's bikes. Hopefully they will get the sweet stuff next year.

Highly doubtful, Roczen/Musquin pulling holeshots on PC kawis this year?!? Sounds like to me the rings are about to fly out of it every time he lets off the throttle, I've heard Roczens and Musquins in person and Herlings sounds like shit to me, could be part video also though.

From watching the video... you know the one four pages ago... it sounded like JH was on a 350 riding it on the limiter while AC was a gear higher on a 450. I dont follow the GPs enough to know what they ride , is that right JH on a 350 AC on a 450?

Roczen/Musquin are still running the old 2005-2012 engine. Herlings runs the 2013 engine, bigger valves, lighter, 44mm throttle body etc.

@cheapsmack: JH is on the 250 and AC runs the 350, although i'm not sure like some people said he's really trying in that vid (low revs indeed).

I'm not knocking their tracks, Leirop and Lommel are totally, totally, gnarly sand tracks that make Southwick look like hardpack. All I'm saying is there are other parts of the world with sand as deep, or deeper, than those tracks. Parts of the Monster Mountain Vintage/Vet track are sandier than Southwick. The local track in Auburn Alabama, War Eagle MX, is all sand. The Euros dont understand that, as gnarly as those tracks are, there are sand tracks all over the SE of the US that are just as sandy. RV, Reed and JS7s practice tracks at their houses that everyone sees on the videos might be loamy, but I can guarantee you that they have access to deep Florida sand tracks.
Deeper ?? I think that you don't have any idea what you are talking about bro. But don't take my word for it. Listen to someone who has riden both sides of the pond and then come to a conclusion. Someone like Michael Leib for exemple. Cool guy and he writes a very good blog about his adventures over here in Europe.

"July 25th we made our way up to Belgium from a little bit of time in the sand before the Lommel Grand Prix last week. All the guys out here have been telling me how crazy this sand race is and to be honest… I had no idea on what I was really getting myself into this past weekend. During the week practicing at some local sand tracks I was riding pretty well and on the clock I was pretty close to the top guys here in the sand, yet did I know that what we were riding was pretty much hard packed compared to this weekend.

It all hit me after my second practice that this weekend was not exactly going to be a fun one for me. It was quite strange for me to not adapt quickly to a track like I have been doing since May when I first got here. Every time I swing a leg over a bike here I have been forced to learn different terrain and have been doing well with that. In my 10 years of racing I have never seen anything like what I saw this weekend. By far it was the roughest track I have ever been on, the most difficult sand I have seen, and the first time I felt like I forgot how to ride a motorcycle. Ha ha. Me and a few others coming from America have the same opinion."

"Here I sit in a lovely laundry mat in the center of lommel, Belgium. I sit here thinking about what it is I can talk about this week. Have you ever have words actually scare you? Ever have a date on the calendar you just aren’t looking forward to? Haha. I do! Well, I am here in Belgium, and have been now for 1 week. Love it here, just about everything except for that thing called sand.
For those of you that don’t know the sand here in Belgium and have not seen it first hand, I suggest you be sure to witness it before making an opinion. It is nothing short of brutal. In a weird way, I am excited for it.

Setting a new challenge for myself this weekend, to have as much fun as physically possible. For one reason and that being, if I do not have fun with it, I can tell you from last year… It “will” be hell.

Like i said, if you don't believe us, believe someone who should know.
That said i must however admit that i still think that team USA will win the mx of nations. Only because there is no other country that can put forward 3 riders with the same talent as Dungey, Bagget and Barcia. I'm not sure if 1 on those guys will be able to take the overall in the class that they will be riding in because of the state that the track will be in, but i'm pretty sure that team USA will eventually be on the top step. I don't really care who wins though. I'm just looking forward to another fantastic day in Lommel Smile

As Lieb said, every sandtrack is hardpack compared to the sand of Lommel. And you really do get the feeling you need to learn to ride again, it's just impossible to know how it is without experiencing it yourself.

Someone still has to explain, if Lommel is such a special place, which requires a rider to "know" it and to be a great sand rider, then how did a bunch of SoCal (and Washington) hardpack specialists win there in '81? None of the Euro's who talk about how this track is "different" and is going to disadvantage the US team can explain how a US B Team (none of the '81 National Champs went to MXdN in '81) went over there, and not only won, they destroyed everyone. The US B team, of SoCal hardpack specialists, dominated that race so much that even if it had been scored US vs Europe we still would have won.

I'll answer that question since none of the Euro's want to touch it.

The fucking track is not going to matter, just like it didnt matter in '81. The best riders are going to win, like they did in '81. Herlings, who could not beat Roczen last year, is not going to magically beat BB or Barcia now just because its at Lommel.
I wil answer that question for you: You got no clue about how the track was then and now.

Does it look like it has the same dirt? In '81 Lommel was like an average sandtrack just like you guys have with southwick.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDlB98AZlv8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Fe2GJt9QWQ

And Herlings did not get beaten in the sand by Rockzen. No one beat him in the sand...
Also, no one said America aint gonna win. The chance you guys win a moto wil be significantly smaller due to the track conditions, that's what people are saying.

MXDN this year is definitely interesting. It's literally the home track for the KTM guys, right? Not often the MXDN is hosted at your test track haha.

You realize the first link is to the '84 MXdN in Finland and not at Lommel right? Every other sand track is hard pack compared to Lommel? You sure about that? Have you ever ridden in Florida?

I dont want anyone to get the wrong idea, I respect the GP racers a lot, but I think saying the track is going to be a significant factor is wishful thinking.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings proved once again why they call him the king of the sand. Herlings was one of the first ones to reach the first corner, but he crashed in the opening lap and his teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek could not skip him and he ran onto him. Herlings had to fix the handle bar, the clutch and other pieces of his bike that were damaged from the crash, and he started from the very last position around thirty seconds behind the rest of the riders. However, that did not stop Herlings to catch the leader in the very last lap and win the qualifying race with almost five seconds advantage over Coldenhoff.

JH is now 18,why do you try to compare him with riders who are on their top of career?Roczen and Herlings are still so young, give them time to progress.Tell me if you know riders at the age of 17-18 who can race against this two?

Looks like I was wrong about our them being prepared, and I was wrong that the GP riders were not going to have an advantage there. Clearly the GP riders as a whole, and Herlings and AC in particular, were a step above the US riders. If you read the comments from Chisholm, who is from Florida, he said none of the main MX tracks in Florida have sand like that, but Croom off road riding area does and he practices there. I've ridden hundreds of times in sand like that, I LOVE sand like that, I prefer sand over any other surface, but I was wrong that our team was going to be prepared for it.

Strange... You have riden sand like that hundreds of times. And the pro-riders from the USA say that there isn't any sand like that in the USA. You should've called Roger D and his team and you should've told them where they could find those tracks so they could practise on it...
Have you ever been to Lommel Kartwheel ? How the hell do you know from some pics and some video's just how rough the track actually is. Blake Baggett said after the race that even the spectators at the side of the track just could not see how rough it really is. Only one way to find out, and that is to ride it.
Team USA could not be prepared for it. In 10 days time ? Impossible. Most Belgian and Dutch riders know how to ride this stuff, because they grow up in it. And other riders (Cairoli, Roczen, Rattray,..) learn how to ride it just by going to Lommel several times a week for more then a year to learn how to ride it.

No, I have never been to Lommel, have you ever been to Croom in Florida? Didnt think so. Until you do YOU have no idea what kind of sand we have there. The Pro riders on team USA didnt ride where the real sand is. Kyle Chisholm, who is from Florida and rode for team Puerto Rico does and practices at Croom, its miles and miles and miles of nothing but sand and whoops. He admitted the sand is different and that it was the gnarliest track he had ever ridden, but that is from so many riders on it with no prep. Put that many riders on Croom and its gonna get just as gnarly.

Quote of the weekend from Kyle Chisholm: "if there was a track in Hell this would be it"
that is how he thinks of Lommel
