MXDN or A1...

Pretty close for me.
Now which event would I rather attend,MXoN over A-1
Been to a few A-1's.Going to a different country for moto is a very cool experience.

A1 is better because the field is deeper/faster.

Yep that is what i think also. The mxdn i went to was the most fun event i have ever been to, but a1 simply had way more talent on the line. If they made the mxdn an individual event with the best 40 riders in the world no matter their country, that would be a different story.

While I love the MXoN and it is my favorite outdoor race of the year just because of the neat format.
I have looked much more forward to A1 in recent years though.

That would be the Individual World Championship then ... the 16 round series over different countries prior to the MXDN. Laughing Americans choose not to race it.

And like A1 it has more depth than the MXDN.

In terms of the Nationals, I don't know where you get this idea that Europe, some of Russia, Brazil, and now Mexico (lol) are more geographically diverse than the Continental United States. It's the same amount of scenery change in either series.

Except the Americans and imports have an extra 8 to 17 rounds of Supercross tacked on rather than just 4 more rounds of Outdoors if you really want to keep track Tongue

Well, he was asking which is more exciting in the run up to the event, not which event would you rather go to. I'd go to any outdoor event before a SX, but the anticipation leading to up to A1 is awesome. So awesome it's hard to deliver on it.

so true , starting not to like the mxon , with all the crap every year ,about nationality , would love to see a great race , were every one just goes for the win , and if ur team win , well good if they dont no big deal , i know its a team race and thats the point , but if dungey loses to cairoli , all the europe guy will say he had nothing for cairoli , and the US guy will say he was riding for the team , and everyone will still be talking crap

A1 I'm more of a Reed fan then anything else. Grinning
A1 brings back Reed AND a full field, if MXDN brough Reed and Villo i would be rooting for that instead.

A1 is cool too but obviously it's the first round of the season and a rider will only lay so much on the line at that point. Whereas later on in the series when everyone's comfortable, it improves a bit. Plus I just like watching MX better and there really is nothing quite as spectacular or as unique as a Des Nations imo.
I'm stoked for both, but I agree with your opinion about the first race of the SX season. It rarely matches the hype.

That is a very tough call. I think it would be safe to say that Both the events are something I prance around the living room with anticipation while I'm waiting for it to come on.

Both......two very different events. You have one where we see a lot of the fastest guys racing for their countries in the "MX Olympics "........the other one is mostly participated by Americans .....but it the "start of the season ".......not just SX.....but it's the kick off for the entire year!

Both are extremely important to me.....and I HAVE to watch both!

That's 4 more rounds of outdoors, plus a National Championship or even 2 and some invitationals tacked on can often mean over 30 races, different continents, not all in your home country,if you really want to keep up

Oh and outdoor races not 15-20 minute sprints Smile

I was at MXdN 2007 at Budd's Creek, and A1 this past January. Villopoto destroyed everyone in both. Tongue Actually I thought TDeath had it exactly right. The run-up to A1 is more exciting but I care more about the MXdN.

It's all that bollocks inbetween the two that I hate.

I've raced both... A1 most of the time unless MXDN is in your own country... MXDN in 05 in Ernee was pretty insane for us...

I go to A-1 just about every year and it is super exciting but I have to say the Des Nations at Budds Creek was the most awesome race I've ever been to.

You got a 2nd & 7th riding MX3 didn't you that day in Ernee?
I think you beat Stefan in the 3rd moto of the day MX1/MX3.
Second behind Townley in MX2/MX3 (Townley rode almost as good as RC that day -that was an Epic ride for him).
However, the Sunset Tan guy beat you in MX1/MX3. Smile
2nd OA for France that day!

I was there that day, first ever des nations for me in person. Unbelievable atmosphere on that bank. We were so crammed in you couldn't leave all day or you lost you place.

BT rode great that day. In second moto, we let Pichon go inside and I sucked on the start. Came back 7th, not too bad and got the job done for 2nd overall... It was a tough weekend for me. Popped my knee out in saturday practice crashing in the 1st turn (it's on youtube somewhere) and had to run a stock engine with a Doma pipe (which I never rode with before. lol). Yamaha US didn't want to ship engine stuff because my deal was ending a week later. My mechanic just brought my suspensions and bars... Healthy and with my factory bike, I think I could have beat Calimero in moto 2. hahaha

THis, feel the same. Sx is all glamour, mx is more true.
