1. Seek and report the truth. Professional journalists should be honest, fair and courteous in news gathering and reporting. The following things should be taken into consideration when gathering and reporting news: check the accuracy of all information and take necessary steps to avoid error, identify your sources when applicable and do not plagiarize are among the many things you should take into account.
2. Minimize harm and risk. Professional journalists should treat their sources and colleagues as humans and respect them. Lack of respect in any field, especially communications, can leave you jobless. A few things you should keep in mind when it comes to respect are: compassion, good taste, do not be arrogant, sensitivity and caution are among the things you should think about.
3. Be independent and accountable. One thing that stands out about journalist that may not be so obvious in other careers and those things are independence and accountability. Professional journalists should not feel obligated to interests other than that of your employer and the public's right to know. Also, journalists need to be accountable to their readers and colleagues. As a journalist, you should: avoid conflicts of interest, not accept gifts or anything of monetary value (other than your salary) in return for a story, admit your mistakes and correct them in a timely manner and always report in a clear, professional and timely manner.
BTW I wasn't sure if this thread could ever return to what the subject title states but lo and behold "thar she blows!". Now I just hope monkeys don't start flying out of my butt.
On Friday you sent me a bunch of acerbic emails criticising me for being 'negative', as you put it. I was not quite sure what had rattled your cage on this subject, as I haven't spoken to you or anyone else on this matter for a very long time, preferring instead to watch others debate. I do acknowledge though that after seeing your impending meltdown brewing on here I did initiate our email exchange by asking, in a humorous way (I hoped) whether you had 'sobered up yet'. Apologies if that touched a raw nerve. Nonetheless I was quite perplexed by your unprovoked hatchet job on me.
Your last email said "Go back to the forums Rob, you belong there more than I do." So, despite virtually never posting on forums any more (unlike you it appears) here I am, as requested. Hello.
Your last email also went on to state how much more money you make than I have ever done from motocross. I thought that was irrelevant, if not actually a little distasteful. But, hey, I say 'well done' to you. Super. Splendid. 'Living the Dream', as you put it.
As you go to very few races these days I presume that you were referring to the profits from your excellent e-magazine - you know, the one with Steve Cox's title. You've already admitted to the readers of this thread that your journalistic talents are limited. One can therefore only deduce that the success of this fine publication must be more down to the snappy title - Motocross Illustrated - than the content. I'm sure Steve will be thrilled to hear this.
Anyway, let's try to drag this thread back on topic shall we?
You have said, in your most positive way, that you believe that YS are doing a great job and that the GPs under Youthstream are blooming brilliant. And that your positive positive outlook is genuine, heartfelt, and in no way related to the fact that you're employed in doing journalistic work (despite claiming to not be a journalist) for said promoter.
Is that correct? Are you sure about that?
With best regards
Rob

I'm still waiting hear what I spun and what I diverted attention from.
I'm going to need a chart pretty soon to keep track of who's with whom.
People seem to think cutthroat is limited to one industry. I'd guess that people from just about any industry could give examples of the same in their corner of the world.
I love irony.
That's the new Forum Category for this type of Thread.

It's always nice when Rob drops by with a little bit of roost & some epic bar-dragging.
Then Slavo could chime in and ask her for tit pics.
Anyway, at least I know the reason you're pissed at me. Yes, I did ask you which of the three types of journalist mentioned in the MXA article you are. Which, you will recall, was moments after you posted "what a wanker", out of the blue, on one of my Facebook photos. Which was also not a nice thing to do.
Anyway, perhaps, if you write me a nice apology, I'll refrain from showing Nerd what real irony is.
Choose wisely Geoff.
1) You wrote the truth here.
2) Sometimes the only way to win is by not playing. I'm disengaging from this radio frequency. Over and out.
What is it that you were trying to get at that I was diverting attention from.
Love how you have disengaged from this frequency, but pinned a link to this thread at the top at MT. Epic moderating there. Am I more likely to get an answer at that frequency?
