this year and what kind are you gettin? Since 2002 I have had:

1) 2002 Honda CR250R
2) 2003 Honda CR250R
3) 2004 Kawasaki KX250F
4) 2005 Yamaha YZ450F
5) 2007 Honda CRF250F
6) 2008 Yamaha YZ450F

I have no idea what I am going to get this year. I know from experience that every Honda I have owned was by far the most reliable bikes I have owned. My 2004 Kawi was a complete turd of a bike. It was valve problem after valve problem with that thing. Both of the Yamaha's were pretty reliable, but they don't corner for shit and I could never do anything to get it completely comfortable. I have ridden the Suzuki's and I just do not feel comfortable on them. I have no idea which bike I am going to go with this year. The Kawi ergos feel really good and I know my issue with the 04 Kawi was first year bike issues they were having. I don't think I would have any real maintenance issues with the 2009 Kawi's. A couple guys I ride with have 2008 Kawi's and after 2 tire changes and a few motos the black rims look like garbage. So, at this point unless I sell myself on the Kawi, I am betting I will wind up on a 2009 Honda CRF450R because I know the Hondas are quality, comfortable, well sprung, and corner well.

So, who else is rolling out new this year?

I wanted to buy a new bike each year but some guy in Kentucky was buying them all up. So I gotta stay with my 04 for a couple more years.

SXracerguy, go over to Ezell's and get you a new KTM. You can throw a rock across Crofton Ky, so you have to know him. I may keep my 07 KXF450 another year. I usually buy a new bike every year, but I like this bike so much I might freshen it up and do another year. I have just started doing vintage races with my first at Mid Ohio this weekend. After riding that Elsinore, I have realized that there hasn't been much change in bikes in the last 4 or 5 years, but my back tells me there is a LARGE difference between that Elsinore and any modern bike.

Oh yes, I know Steve well. I ride at 800 a lot. So does Yamaboy336. He is pretty quick for an old guy. No, I won't do the KTM thing. No way in hell.

I have a fairly low hour 01 YZ250F with a lot of lightweight stuff on it. The motor is fresh with only a few hours after it grenaded several years back. Thumper Racing rebuilt it from the crank up with their 280 kit. Runs great, suspension is set up for me and I can't see any major improvement in the new YZ250F to make me want another one. Other than the alum. frame, it hasn't changed much as far as I'm concerned.

My son has a super nice/clean 04 CRF250 with some nice parts on it. Fresh motor with a couple upgrades to keep it from failing as it did the first time. Again, where are any real changes to make the new one any better? We're just riding for fun anyway, no contracts on our table!Laughing

I don't know I'll have to run upstairs and ask my wife if I can get another new one or 2 this year. Probably can I've already paid off the Neptune Society.

Depending on what Honda does this year I will probably buy a 2009 RM-Z450. Haven't bought a new bike in a while.

2000 Yamaha YZ125
2001 Kawasaki KX250
2001 Yamaha YZ250F
2002 Honda CRF450R
2004 Suzuki RM-Z250

I have not ridden the 2008 EFI, but I sat on it and did not like it. The 2007 Zuk was not bad. I rode one of those a few times.

I might know you if I saw you. I only race the large outdoor track when he races there. The SX track is fine, but it puts me home at 2 or 3 am if I race there. Steve and I have raced together for years. I went to a couple of nationals with him and Tyson in 2003 and 2004.

Yeah, your name sounds familiar. I went to Red Bud with them in 2004. I use to collect the money a lot out there while they were traveling with Tyson. I won the 250 A class in Supercross in 2004 and then deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006. I got shot through the left knee and left wrist and spent MOST of 2007 having surgery on my wrist and knee and recuperating.

Well,I just plunked down some cash on a used Honda 919 today, but I'm holding out on the dirtbike.I'm hoping to get the 08 Yz450 but still pricing around.I don't really need an 09 so a new 07 or new 08 at the right price will have to do.
