So you guys are absolutely sure Wharton refused a pay cut because some guy on Vital said he did? I really don't know where some of you get your information that you're so sure of. Same guy said that Trey is staying at Honda for a big pay cut a couple of days ago.

As far as Mitch, back in 2006 his offer to Trey was the same as Geico's. I don't know why so many people believe that he doesn't pay good salaries. There are other things to consider when making these decisions.
Wait.....you mean everything I read on here isn't true?
Dang, I gotta re-think my life.

Happy 4th to you and the family Kari.

Does it actually make a championship closer or does it just seem that way in the minds of people on the internet who think PC is the magic bullet for every rider who's not on one and not winning?

Come on, i highly doubt theres a big difference between one factory bike and another, PC is amazing and i'd be on one in a sec if i got the call from mitch, but you got teams like eleven 10 running up there with PC now. PC wins because of the riders first and foremost. They have the fastest riders 90 percent of the time. They get those riders because there is the impression that the bike is so much better due to the fastest riders winning on them in the past. Its a vicious circle for everyone else. Geico and to a lesser extent KTM are proving otherwise this year. Tomac or Barcia on a Rockstar bike would turn public opinion around quick smart.

In my opinion ofcourse Smile
The other part of the equation you are leaving out is how the team is managed. Mitch Payton is a very passionate and tough guy to work for. In McGraths book he talked about how Mitch made him a better rider, and while he hated the disciple it was exactly what he needed at that point in his young career.

The bikes do make a big difference as well, Alex Martin has stayed with Eleven10 mods even though he has had offers from bigger teams. Chad Sanner builds a better bike than some of the bigger teams that spend all their money on 18 wheelers and payroll. PC just happens to have the entire package and also supports these kids when they are coming up so the loyalty factor is a big part as well.

"Inked" - Was that a pun? Haha.

Pingree made it very clear in the podcast that Millsaps deal is for the Rockstar Suzuki team, not H&H, not Yosh, and not BTO. He said he had heard it from two different but reliable sources.

Well... I know that Millsaps has an offer from Cary, not sure if he has others or not. I don't see Rockstar Suzuki stepping up with a 450 rider(s), but I know nothing about their plans. I guess we will all know soon enough...
Take it to the bank..... Rockstar Suzuki will have a 250 and 450 program and have a amateur rider (program)
Wharton is a done deal (lites)
Anderson is a done deal (lites)
Millsaps is a done deeal (450)
Izzi done deal (SX lites / outdoor 450)
Owens done deal and will move up for outdoors 2013 (lites)
All from a "very good" source!!

Hey Mrs. Canard, how is Trey doing ? Hope he is healing well, would be nice to watch him ride out there. Hated seeing him hurt again, along with all the other riders getting hurt. The part of this sport I hate.

Respectfully - the crash of 2008 changed things on a financial level for everyone.

Comparing any form of monetary contract: property conveyancing, salaries, retirements, sporting contracts etc, etc between 2006 & 2012 isn't reasonable.

Wharton didn't refuse a pay cut he was offered "X" and agreed to that number then "X" became "Y" and he decided he'd rather get paid a different amount at a different team.

I was told the Trey story from two long term Kawasaki employees and one at Honda. Presumed it to be somewhat reliable and threw it up here - causing offense is never my primary motivator so if I have please excuse me.

Let's not forget the title to this thread is "RUMOURS" not "FACTS" and as Mark twain once said "Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story "

Can't wait to have another of the truely "good guys" back out there. And I'm sure you feel the same way too, it's got to be hard on you sitting "on the sidelines."

I think its funny the way most people on the internet think that PC has some magic possion brewing in their shop that turns subpar riders into a national champ. I beg one person to name me one guy who has left another FACTORY team and won a title for Mitch who couldn't have won a title on another bike. Only five riders have won national titles for PC, and one was on a factory bike fitted with PC graphics. All five of those guys could have won on any other brand.

The only rider that has ever done it is Weimer, and he won on a Honda too and could have won a title with a Honda if he applied himself. PC didn't make Weimer better, it was Weimer new program that made him better.

As far as riders getting paid pennys compared to other teams? Another myth. Guys that move up from Team Green to PC make the same money they would make on any other team, guys that Mitch takes a chance on that come to him for a ride, don't. Pourcel made 400k a year riding for PC, he wouldn't have made any more anywhere else.

Englishman--no offense taken EXCEPT when I read things that I know are not how things went down. The people involved in the negotiations shouldn't be talking, and I didn't, Trey didn't, so it is annoying to read things that are put out as fact, when they're not. I realize it's bench racing, so I'll just stay out of it next time. It just seemed like people were jumping on Wharton when no one should know the facts except the parties involved.

As far as the comparison, I wasn't comparing 2006 to 2012, but Geico to PC.

Not the same team. Rockstar Suzuki is currently the lites team and Metty is on the Yosh/Suzuki team. Rockstar looks to be expanding efforts and bringing on a 450 guy with the 250 guys for next year. This is great news because it adds another ride. Hopefully more teams follow suit and some of the less known guys will get a shot with some decent equipment.
I agree with you on the extra team thing however it seems to me that all those teams pick up are not guys trying to make a name for themselves its riders that just left a factory ride it looks to me like that when they go to the downside of their career and they can do well sometimes however they are on the downside of their career and those teams pick them up for the name and who they are

I know you have at least one of those wrong! Leaning that way but sometimes money talks and then the bull shit starts flying. I think it is way to early for anyone to be signing contracts. Only 1/2 way thru the outdoors.
