Talking wallet - Ha!

I wonder if I bought 10,000 2-strokes if it would change the OEMs mind to pressure the AMA to raise the displacement limit. If you follow the logic that buying a lot of 2-strokes would cause the OEMs to allow 2-strokes in Pro AMA and start producing them again, thenyou could say the that the lack of 4-stroke sales would produce the same effect.

I think we need some clarity from jmar.

I just got my TM 300 - I'll let everyone know how it works out. Hoping I have better luck than Denn.

Exactly what I was thinking. Get two motors for the price of one and the least expensive bike you can buy. more fun, more options. Hard to argue with.

Why would the AMA give a shit that you bought 10,000 two strokes? You two stroke lovers should read think before you post things.

But for the original question I would probably buy a 250sx, or a 125 Yamaha.

You guys DO know you can have those built a lot cheaper, right? Not an expensive dream only. I saw an ad for a 500 AND a 04 CR450 for 3G in Michigan. Beleive it's gone now but the guy was selling it as a pkge. Buy an 08 blown up, (oh I know. A shock to me too.) and a donor 500 and your in business. The 08 was the best handling of the CRFs. Just a thought.

I'd get a STIHL chainsaw. Always wanted one of those. Might pick up some work gloves too.

Saw the thread at Banned CR 500 site showing the one person's conversion work. Very nice indeed.

I expect one of the reasons the Service bikes cost more is that they build the engines fresh from parts stock. The bike is entirely new, and not a product of multi used donor bikes. Just a different way of doing it, and probably why it relates to a thread on new 2012 two strokes.

Or if you can't find a blown up CRF locally, just buy a working one and sell the engine to a blown CRF owner.

I would think the 150SX motor in an '07 CR125 frame. would be the ultimate.

Or maybe a 200XC or one of the 03-04 200SX engines.

Yeah, that would be even better. I haven't found anyone that has ever tried a KTM motor in a CR125 frame.

I did buy one. Bought a 2012 KTM 150SX:

The bike is so light and has loads of power. I liked it straight away, but after I changed to a higher bar and adjusting the sag properly it was pretty much faultless. You need to ride it pretty aggressively to get the most out of it but it flies when you do. Most fun bike I have ever owned. More photos here:

At first I would have said KTM 250sx but after reading some of the reports in this thread on it I am wondering if it is any better than my 07 RM. The magazines that still test 2 strokes say the chassis on the KTM is now better than the YZ but the RM was better than the YZ so i dont know if the KTM would be better. Engine wise I am sure i could get my RM to keep with the KTM, i have my suspension tuned for me and oversize front brake so i think i have just talked myself into keeping my 5 year old bike.

Ahh, remember the days when a 2 year old bike was out of date and not worth spending money on? Development sure has slowed

Like an amateur needs all the top-notch stuff. Fast guys go fast on an old bike aswell, it's the setup that makes the difference.

Paul Stoffers and GTS Fabworks in LA area. Certainly a cheaper route to go if you don't have 11G to spend. Who does these days? I've met Paul, great guy. He follows through on his commitments, at a very good price . No doubt the SH Honda cost more to make, they charge $6100 to buy a motor alone. From parts stock, as mentioned. Not a cheap way to go. But if you want your dream bike badly enough, it can be had. Wouldn't give mine up to go back to a 450 for ANYTHING.

Speaking of the KTM 150. What does it take to make a 2012 KTM 125sx into a 150sx?
