That statement completely confuses me. Yes, I think teams like L&M, JGR or Factory Connection have something to do with the riders of the teams they support - They ARE the team. I think you need to re-read my posts, when you state I know specifics of contracts.

This isn't a factory team we are talking about. It's a factory support team.

Honestly

Do you honestly believe they would say that James is still under contract if they had no involvement in L&Ms deal with James?

You didn't answer any of my questions above to explain your logic.

Yamaha is not a team, they dropped their factoryteam effort. They are a manufacturer / supplier to teams.

IMO both sides probably had some sort of legal foot to stand on. Like I said, if Stewart wanted out, I'm sure the waters were pretty muddy with a defunct team & it could be feasible.

Man, I checking out. Either your really dense or not reading my posts. Eitherway, it makes it a worthless debate.

I had heard that James could break his deal with L&M but had a separate contract with Yamaha and that Yamaha wasn't going to let him out.

I didn't take much value in it but maybe it was true.

if true, what team would Yamaha force James to ride for? They don't have a factory team to put him on.

How's that? It's just to point out there's 3 players to that relationship, factory, team, rider. What happens when 1 no longer exists?

Chad Reed has a separate deal with Honda that only Chad Reed is obligated to. How so if he rides for his own team...? (Lars has gone on record and has even said the Honda deal is between Honda and Reed FYI)

Yamaha is still sending Keith to the races for one reason or another no...

From one of my posts earlier:

You're just speculating as I am. Obviously neither of us are privy to the contract's,but I do know that many sateline team riders are contracted to the manufaturer as well. But, they are contracted to a team for that manufacturer, when that team goes defunct, I would suspect the manufacturer does not have the ability to force that rider onto another team & other teams do not have the obligation to take said rider. Like I said, there's enough muddy water, if Stewart wanted out & it was all about winning, IMO he could have gotten out of it.

I had a very cool opportunity to get a tour @ Honda from one of the managers & we had a discussion about just that - only we were talking about a Factory Connection rider.

I acknowledged that a long time ago. It does not change & nobody seems to be able to answer: What happens to the Factory / Rider Contract when the team they ride for no longer exists?

idk. he signed with a team that rides outdoors. he has said when signing he was going to, and then said on the pulpmx show a few weeks ago that he would ride outdoors. 30 some more days and we will all know.

If the new generation Yamaha is such a turd as many of you claim, how come Stephen frossard and Gautier Paulin had some great results at the opening GP at Valkenswaard???

Either it's a case of a "bad workman who always blames his tools!" or "JGR can only build a bike that turns left!"Wink Laughing

How about this: he TRIED to pull two cops over, and give them a ticket.

If that's not asshole, then I guess there are new parameters.

Um, Graphite, plenty of people thought he was an asshole (without good reason) long before that incident.

And for the record, he pulled them over because THE COPS were the ones driving like assholes. He simply told them to slow down. Looking at that incident without socially conditioned lenses and what Bubba ACTUALLY DID is nothing to be considered an asshole for.

Some people are more comfortable on different brands. You've never ridden a bike and it just didn't feel right? I've always felt that way about Yamahas (even my 250F in my avatar)... and KTMs up until I rode the new 450 FE. I've always felt the most comfortable on a Kawi or Suzuki. Ever read McGrath's comments about how he felt about the Suzuki which was also different with the conventional forks?

I know it's Weege's opinion, but surely JGR was not that short-sighted to see that they had a rider who would need at least a season to recoup and get up to speed comfortably, with a possible winning season in 2013, or a possible outdoors in 2012. To think that they could win a supercross championship with a rider who has not completed a full season over the last couple of years, is simply insane.

Oh yeah, I'm wrong, he should have won. He doesn't need any time. JGR saw this, and they were right. Man, they and James had it pinned on this one.

I wonder which forum all these other people who know so much are posting on?

Everyone who blames his bike is completely wrong. The bike did not make James over jump that section in Houston, the bike did not make James crash in the whoops in San Diego, the bike did not make him jump off the side of the track in A1, the bike did not make James crash in the sand in PHX...these are ALL MENTAL mistakes. The bike is not the problem, James IS the problem. I want nothing more than for him to come back and compete and win and especially race the nationals, but he has got some major focus issues.

Exactly, everyone go look at that Everts thread and count the # of bikes he rode...James is not a rookie- He's a 26 year old veteran Champion-There should be really no excuses....

Yeah Reed and the Kawi..well go back and you'll hear Reed talk about how he was not in a good place that year too (mentally he even stated he was going through a lot of Sh***)...and look again regarding James and this year, Chad..... says in his opinion it's the pace- (In response to DV's tweets about letting James try Davi's set up). Chad is out there racing these guys.

Personally, I'd love to see James break contract, buy a zuk and build a team around it like Reed..It would take balls and in addition to that I just don't see him being happy with a fourth place finish regardless what color he's on and that fact alone would most likely mean more soil samples and more speculation on set up Smile

Really?

People say my generation is worthless, it's morals like this that lets my generation get away with some of the dumbest ideas one could come up with.

As to the idiots pointing out he didn't have a ticket book...why else would James try to pull people over? To high 5 them and tell them they've been "punked"?

His father must be proud, a Champion...whom deputized himself to rid the country of undercover cops....
Lighten up you boring old fart.

No production rule in the GP's. Who knows how much those bikes have in common with the production bike besides the plastic.
