Best moto tires?

Been a while since I've bought any tires, so other than round ones with little knobby things on them, what's the best intermediate terrain tire ? And then one for the weight weenies, what's the lightest tire out there? Sand tires still the lightest?

The best tire IMO is not longer available, the Dunlop 756. The runner up combo for me is the Bridgestone M404/403 combo.

I was always a fan of the Michelin MS2 or MS3. Always seemed to work well for me, and would last way way longer than any dunflop

x2,or the scorpion by pirelli, also the bridgestone like stated above, and the hot dunlop set up mx51 on the rear, mx31 or mx 71 on the front. shop around good prices can be found.

starcross mh3, ive always gotten them. last pretty long and kick up so mean roost.

Maxxis IT. They hook up well on a wide range of dirt and seem to last. I've got a set on my 125 and my friend has Bridgestone 404's on his 125, the Maxxis rear does a better job staying planted in the corners IMO.

I have been running the Full Bore intermediates in the AMX (Arizona) State Championship, with 6rd's and practice in between. So far I'm really happy with them will re-up when these wear out. Granted our dirt out here is different out here.

Haha sorry Newman, looks like we all got our own brand! Bridgestone 403/404 combo I've had friends swear by for years.I seem to like mx 51 front and 71 rear. Ate up and tore up my 51 rear sooner than I thought :/ but it was fun while it lasted. Sounds lame but Go with your gut and choose a tread that u think looks cool, chances are that will be the best selling point / confidence booster!

Pirelli Scorpion eXtra, they are great for practice with my 2 stroke.
Also tried Maxxis IT and they last longer but whats the point when brand new tires wont grip!
Michelin Starcross is great if you need a tire that is good on both sand and medium tracks.

I recently tried the MX51 front and rear and loved them. They seem to be holding up pretty good.

I just got a Maxxis SI from Mike Farmer. He said its the new intermediate tire of theirs that just came out. I'm actually going to Milestone in about an hour and will get to try it out for the first time.

I have run the MS3 starcrosses for years. Tough as nails and the rear lasts me a good year. This year I went with a Bridgestone 403 for the front and the MS3 in the back. So for the Bidgestone is working better on the more intermediate then the Starcross, which I think does a bit better in the softer. Either tire set are great. My 2-stroke has the Dunlop MX51 on it. I am not a fan!

A Michelin with 2/3 left works better than most new tires.

I run Michelins on anything and everything. Great tires and they last like crazy. I'm not good enough to tell a huge difference in tires unless it is ridiculous and I have confidence in the way my bike is set up. Michelins for me.

Yup. They are the best intermediates and can handle everything decently. The Dunlop MX51's are a bit too unsettled for me. The rear is okay, but the front is not very confidence inspiring at all. I did like running a 51 rear w/ a 31 front.

I have tried a good amount of different tires and for pure MX, my current choice is the MX31 front and rear. The tracks I ride are really loamy and even in summer, the hard pack is minimal. If I rode places like the old Carlsbad I doubt I'd use the MX31 but they work great in loam, intermediate hardish pack, and full blown sand.

Just looking at prices on Ebay, I can get 403/404 combo for the same price as Full Bores at Chaparral.
