This is a bullshit call period, honestly its more like a fucking joke. The flag was waiving and the lights were on, there is no judgement call to be made. Stevie Wonder could have seen it.

He could have fucking killed that poor bastard laying on the track and they do nothing?? PATHETIC!!

RV thinks he is above everyone else apparently. Complete disregard to his own safety and the safety of others. A lot of people are shrugging it off since nothing happened but if he did hit someone then they defiantly would be singing a different tune.

Didn't really catch it the first time cause it all happened so fast but he definitely had lights on going all the way from the turn to the lip and a flagger who was waving the flag directly at him. He was pretty damn close to hitting that other rider and track worker. A small fine and position lost would be the right thing to do to show that the AMA really does care about the entire field of riders.

Jesus Christ......some of you guys are fucking stupid.

First off.....watch that shit in real time in Scotties video. You see RV look right at the YELLOW FLAG and the YELLOW LIGHTS right after the flagger......RV is looking right at them when he goes past........by the time he lifts his head up......he has about 15' before he gets to that red flashing light.

If you have ever raced a bike ( And not one of you have at those speeds ).........how in the hell was RV going to shut off the throttle in time?

I have no horse in this race......I don't care who wins.....but some of you guys are clueless bastards.

One thing I will say........the flagger should of had a RED FLAG or a white and red MEDIC flag!
2/26/2012 10:36am
As mentioned in previous responses, Villo shoulda rolled it no doubt. Kiniry had just went a lap down to RV and was right behind him coming to that triple. He said the lights were flashing loud and clear, and he couldn't believe that RV sent it. Bottom line-RV should be fairly penalized whether or not it affects the results(5 seconds) is a moot point. The penalty should be assessed regardless.

One more thing before some of you guys get your panties in a wad......

I ran an indoor AX track for 4 years. I helped install our flashing light system.....and believe it or not.....they very seldom ever worked! As in......the riders didn't see them!

When you have a shit load of flashing lights all the way around the track , from signs , cameras , lights from the building.....THE BEST THING a rider will see.....is a FLAG! Wave it right in front of them.....and they will see it!

I have had the yellow hazard lights flashing for a good 15 seconds.....and STILL had riders jumping shit! I Know.....because I have done it myself! And our AX track had about 1% of the lights one of these big stadiums have.

You guys crack me up......no clue as to what you are even talking about.

Pause through the video. The lights were flashing before Cryan had landed from the single into the corner. At that point he had plenty of time to make the decision to follow the rules and roll the jump. Instead he continued on like its no big deal. I just wish he would have landed on the downed bike and put a hole in his cases. Maybe then he would learn his lesson.

Thats not the point. It was an infraction..he should be penalized. The hope is..that others will catch a clue you cant jump on red...for the SAFETY of yourself and others. Lucky noone was hurt this time..but without penalty the next time my not turn out so peachy.

Wow, the haters are out in full force. Mx757, kongols, dak446, adirtybagger, espionage....all of them stinking up the joint pretty badly. But mx757 takes the cake in actually wishing RV1 had landed on the downed rider's bike. What a total fucking douchebag.

It's part of the point...........what I am saying is.....look at where RV's head is pointed too when he rounds the corner......it's right at the yellow flag and the yellow lights. By the time he looked forward ( probably to the face of the triple where he was getting ready jump )......the red flashing light was a little late to see and be able to react.

I agree though.....dock him some points , or time or whatever.

Point I was trying to make.....FIM should think out their layout for the safety of the riders a little more. They "Should have" a flagger with a red flag in hand at all times .....just in case of something exactly like this.

I watch that video.....and I can't simply put all the blame all on Ryan for this. The flaggers should do what I taught my flaggers........YELL at the riders.....it only takes a split second to do it. And it gets their attention.....more than a flag and definitely more than some flashing light that mixes in with all the other lights in the stadium.

Their view and judgement of the situation isn't at all skewed by their undying love for Stewart They are all just really worried for the safety of other riders. So worried that mx757 wishes RV would have crashed into the downed bike. What an idiot

Imagine what this place would be doing if it was Stewie or one of the Alessi's who had done this..

It would be like a sowna up in here..

The only way to get someone penalized for breaking the rules now is it get yourself in trouble as well. You'd have to do something like call out the AMA/FIM and ask if they're operating on monster money.

Just like I doubt you see Malcom get fined if Bogle dosen't hit him.

I think we've seen the problems with the rule book but I'm sure the AMA/FIM still find it perfect.

They should dock him a position for breaking the rules (he clearly got on the gas AFTER the lights were on). Regardless of all the "justifications" he did break the rules and should be penalized. By him breaking the rules last night it kept the race interesting, and if they dock him a position, it will do nothing but tighten up the points.

Did I ever once say I wanted him to get hurt? Nope. I said I wish he would have gotten a nice hole put in the case, it would have taken him out of the race, and probably would teach him to follow the rules that the other 19 riders do.

Pilotdude, remember when you called for Stewarts head when he ran in to the back of Thomas. LMFAO. Stewart should have stopped in the air ,right? And yet RV didn`t have a time to back of with all those disco lights and flaggers sticking a flag in his face. Hypocrisy of biblical proportions.

Jeffro...couldn't agree more. If you want to get a riders attention, there is no better way than to get that flag right in their face...even yell at them if you have to. Those lights are worthless, especially if they are on top of the jump. It doesnt matter if its a light or a guy waving a flag on top of the jump...by that time it's too late. You have to have warning somewhere further up track to keep guys from jumping. They are racing and adrenaline is pumping.

Yellow flags and yellow lights mean caution......in pro racing you very rarely ever see the riders taking much caution.....they just keep going. Which is exactly what RV was looking at when he was rounding that corner.......I think he saw the red lights to late and couldn't do much about it.

Bottom line is.......there needs to be a better way to warn riders about stuff when it happens. There should have been a red flag thrown out right in front of him when he landed and rolled that last single. he didn't see that.....he saw a yellow flag and a set of flashing yellow lights. Something he probably sees about a dozen times during a race.......you never see any of the top guys slow down.

It's bad timing is what it boils down to plain and simple. It was bad timing for James for sure.....as he had to single everything. Which pissed me off because I was hoping to see a Stewart / RV battle coming up......and it got blown out of the water.

Thanks Hoov.....and that is exactly what I was trying to say!

Get the warning flags , lights or a God damn blow horn further in front of the wrecks......and they would see less stuff like this happen.

Bad position of the warning flags and lights is what it boils down to.

You have become truly unbalanced on this issue. Your posts show it and multiple people have pointed it out.

And Stewart's landing right on top of Jason Thomas was merely one link in a long chain crashes taking other riders out as was pointed out by many, many people at the time.

I think it was a close call last night, and even if RV1 was docked 1 position and 2 points I would be ok with that. No where on here have I blindly defended him. And I thought his handshake with Dungey after the race was pure class.

You need to step back, take a breath, and decide if you really want to be in the company of the haters where you now find yourself.

The position of the lights and flags were fine, Stewart didn't Jump.

The rider blowing by because he doesn't give a shit is the problem.

You became too biased. You want people to sweep it under the rug which I find ridiculous. AMA reaction to this incident is laughable.
