I thought about that, but then I figured my family would catch on when I aged 40 years in one day. I'll just stick to the working mans drugs......coke and the occasional mainlining of heroin. Mixing the two on the weekends of course......speedball anyone?

I thought I was the only one who didn't drink that crap. Coca cola is my energy drink. I will drink a pop on race day along with water.

I drank a 5 Hour Energy once before going for a ride and I had to stop after barely getting started because of the jitters. I felt so shitty I thought I was hallucinating and I'm a 5-6 cup of coffee per morning drinker also!

Had you been paying attention to jndmx and myself you would know that you always have to keep xanax or valium on you if you're going to be taking uppers. That's like rule #3 in the drug users handbook.

I'll have a red bull every now and then. Not because they really give me energy or anything, it's just a sweet treat.
Tried a 5 hour energy once; I was sweaty and jittery all day long.
Also, I tried a monster before riding one day. I was shaking on the way to the track, and felt I was going to throw up all afternoon.

It's not like mx'ers have naturally addictive personalities or anything...
I drink a Red Bull about once every six months. Soda is crap too. Unless it's beer I'm pretty much sucking down water.

Ok one day down now Red Bull. Very slugish all day. Ive been having some kind of rash and a few hives on my hands and neck, the doctor called it contact dermitists. Read up on the side affects of energy drinks last night.
1. Rash
2. hives
3. diarea
4. insomnia
So its a 30 day withdraw to see if its the Redbull.

Call me crazy but I've actually gotten an acquired taste for pedialyte. . . I don't drink it except for days leading up to a race primarily because it's a little too pricey. I'm out on energy drinks. If I drink an iced tea after 3 in the afternoon I won't sleep. Energy drinks would kill me. Plus, when I drink caffeine while I'm tired, I go from feeling tired, to feeling tired and jittery.

What's funny is most professional athletes don't touch that crap. It's sugar water and the antithesis of what a well conditioned athlete should be ingesting. It's garbage in a can. It does pay the bills for those guys though!

You do realize they're drinking water on the podium when they have those Monster and Rockstar cans? Water is all you need. If you're sluggish, change your diet, exercise and stop drinking crap.

"Energy" drinks are the biggest crock of shit to hit the market since vitamins and dietary supplements were introduced years ago. It's marketing bullshit that tastes good and plays on the general ignorance of most consumers.

The amount of milk thistle they put in Rockstar has absolutely zero benefit to consumers. A tiny, tiny, miniscule amount is included so they can simply say it's in there, but it's not enough to actually do anything or have any real benefit. This has been well documented.

Pedialyte is definitely beneficial, but it does taste like ass, whatever ass must taste like.

Sugar water is great for athletes in certain circumstances. After a workout, you need sugar to replenish glycogen stores. I usually mix some dextrose and maltodextrin with protein. I'm not saying redbull is always a good thing but if you're needing some sugar and caffeine it's not an awful thing.

No, it's not inherently bad in moderation, but I've seen guys drink it like water and think it's good for them or a performance enhancer, which couldn't be further from the truth. We definitely need glucose and there are many other healthy forms of it besides energy drinks.

I guess I just wish people were smarter, but they're not. I'm going to go create a new energy drink now so I can get rich of their stupidity Smile

Yup, just like Gatorade. I have friends who honestly think it's good for you because of "electrolytes" and all that lol. It's not that everyone is stupid, it's just that they are ignorant. Food and nutrition is an afterthought to Americans. We spend the least amount of our income percentage wise on food compared to anyone else in the world. Our government subsidizes farmers like crazy to grow corn and almost everything in the food store has some type of processed corn in it. I'm going to stop because I'm getting way off tangent but I could go on forever about this stuff.

I have had three energy drinks ever and that was to keep me going on a 10 hour drive. Don't drink coffee or tea either. Water or rum and coke.

1. Used to have maybe 1 a month or less, until we started selling monster at work. Now I have around 3-5 per week.
2. fuck no. Drank half a monster before riding a few years ago, and I had tunnel vision and everything started getting blurry/shaky. Water or vitamin water only when I ride now.
3. I mainly drink the Monster rehab tea and lemonade or the roho tea, non carbonated and low calories. Occasionally if I feel the need for a little stronger hit I'll drink the absolutely zero. If we had Red Bull I'd probably choose that first but I very rarely buy them from convenience stores.
