I have a 2008 Honda CRF250f still with the stock tires on it, they have decent tread left but was hoping for some input on what others run/race with. I saw on motosport the dunlop mx51's and maxxis IT have good reviews on them any suggestions ? Any help is appreciated : )

I'd go with the Michelin Starcross. $145 for front and rear at Motosport. Just choose the terrain you ride on. My son says there the best.

If you are on intermediate dirt mostly, run either the Dunlop MX51's or the bridgestone 403/404 combo. Your local dealer will be glad to get you them, and they will probably have them in a day and match or beat online pricing if you talk to them!

STOCK TIRES ON AN 08? WOW!!! I would def go with some dunlop MX51.. They work very well... I had some Kenda's last year lasted me half a season.. So i am gonna drop a few more dollars and get the MX 51's this year, which seemed to work great in the mid west..

Several of the top MX magazines HATE the Dunlop MX 51 front tire. They run either a 31 or 71 on the front and a 51 on the rear. I too didn't care for the feel on the 51 on the front.

I've tried all the brands and I've settled on the Bridgestone 403 and 404 for my tastes. In almost all cases I found them to have excellent and predictable traction on most tracks plus I get more life out of them which is an added bonus.

+2 on the Starcrosses. I have used all the tires mentioned here. I loved the 403/404 Bridgestone and HATE the Dunlop MX 51. But I go back the Starcrosses because they excellent in the sand and the loam. The Bridgstone did better for me when it was more hardback then the Starcross but not as good (IMO) in the sand. I moved from the MH to the MS, which seemed help with some front end washing. Just my opinion, I know a LOT of guys like the MX51....I have them on my 2-smoker...to me they like wander in the back and don't give firm feeling. Plus, they are soft and haven't lasted very long. I've ran the Maxxis before, good tire but wore fast.

Thanks for the reply's ! Yeah I bought the bike new in 2009 and rode a good 20 30 times and didn't ride much the past 2 years. I'm gunna go into my local shop and take a look at the bridgestones and dunlops and see what the local guys race with. They both seem pretty good, anything is better than the stock ones I got on it now lol. Thanks again for the help !

Don't by tires from a shop. Way to expensive. Rocky mountain or Motosports.com is way cheaper. If your not experienced at putting tires on, there are lot of good how-to-videos out there.

While the traction is good with Dunlops, the wear on them is HORRIBLE. Me personally I would go with the Bridgestone 403 404 if you are looking for the best traction with decent wear. If you are looking for a tire that wears better but doesnt hook up quite as well, go with the Maxxis. On a side note, of the couple of Maxxis' that I have ran, they were considerably more difficult to mount than any other tire. They do wear very well though.

Yeap bridgestone 403/404 or dunlop MX51 rear with a MX71 front. MX51 fronts suck, and not just because MXA says so, they really do.

I find the Michelins are hard to mount, but I have found that if I heat them up in the sun during the summer or with a propane portable heater they go a lot easier. Doesn't take long to heat them either.
